    Do this - but know that you may need to initiate a brake pedal position sensor relearn procedure.
    In some cases, it relearns on its own, such as when replacing the throttle body; in some cases, it will only relearn if commanded to through a commercial grade scan tool.
    If changing the sensor does not stop the problem, call around and find a mechanic who is familiar with a brake sensor relearn command. This applies to all current GM vehicles, so its a common procedure.

    FIXED! My 2014 gmc acadia slt was showing traction control off and service stabilitrak after just a few mins of driving after about 35mph if I accelerated more than 1/3 throttle the truck would cut power in quick intervals making the drivetrain shake hard. So after finding that my brake switch sensor was always triggering the lights to be on and it had to do with the slack that built up over the years in my brake peddle... changing the sensor wouldn't fixed the problem... so I added a small piece of plastic to the sensor to fix the problem. I've been driving it alot over the last few weeks with zero problems! Hope this helps someone.

    • @tony6261
      @tony6261 Před 9 měsíci

      Can you explain what you did by adding a small piece of plastic to the sensor?

    • @brandonwarner2881
      @brandonwarner2881 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @tony6261 The sensor is shaped, kind of like a tuning fork. By gluing a thin piece of plastic about an eighth of an inch thick and the same width and length as the fork arm to the inside of one of the arms that would rotate
      the sensor towards the off position. If you lay on the floor of your truck and look up at your break linkage, you'll see the sensor have your ignition on, you can touch the sensor and hear the relays click when the break lights are activated and deactivated and it will give you a sense of where that sensor needs to be positioned to work correctly when your break pedal is at rest.

    This sensor, it can be tested, it is a potentiometer (such a variable resistor) you must to use a multimeter, from the center to anyone of the pins it must read 869 ohms (aprox) and from the center to the other pin it mus read 3.41 kilo ohms, if you move the arm to the other extreme, you will see how resistance value change, and the readings exchange, which first read 869 ohms, now will read 3.41 kilo ohms, and which first read 3.41 kilo ohms now will read 869 ohms. My 2010 GMC Acadia is giving the messages, "Service Stability Track, Traction Control OFF, and Engine Power Reduced". The traction control light and check engine light are both ON on the dashboard. The local auto part store (AutoZone) did a scan and told me I need to replace the "Accelerator Pedal Sensor". Is this a combination of two separate problems? Do I need to replace both the "Accelerator" and "Brake" pedal sensors? I can barely make it one mile before the car starts to act as if it's about to shut off on me. Please Help Me...I purchased the car used in September 2018, and all this started with the first Minnesota freeze which wasn't much later. I haven't had the chance to actually enjoy my new car... :0(

    • @gabeulrickson2496
      @gabeulrickson2496 Před 5 lety +1

      No. Stabilitrack uses both sensors. Engine power reduced is generally caused by the Throttle/Accelerator position sensor. I have fixed this problem that stems all the way back to 2004 silverados and impalas etc that show engine power reduced, when the pcm doesn't have any visible communication with the TPS it goes into engine power reduced. Seeing as these cars will still be driveable with the service stabilitrack message, my suggestion would be to replace the Accelerator Position Sensor like your parts store recommends and clear the codes and see if service stabilitrack comes back

    After I start the car If I apply the brake the light turns on, and then when I release the brake the light would turn off. However 5-6 seconds after I released the brake the light would turn back on. I did it a couple of times and then counted the time between when I let my foot off the brake and the time the light came back on and it was always almost exactly 5-6 seconds -- after that time the light would go on and stay on as long as the car is running, even if in park. while the lights are on and I am driving I could apply the cruise control during the 5-6 seconds while the light was off but once the light turned back on the car will not allow me to tap them off with the brake pedal. so the Cruise is useless besides the car being ridiculously unsafe.
    Another thing!
    Another strange thing with the light is that if I just apply a little pressure to the pedal, I mean just enough to move it , not enough to actually slow the car down or even brake at all, the brake light will turn off. The light turns off the entire time I apply that little bit of pressure, but once I let off on that pedal ( It's very difficult to hold at that place for very long) it resets the 5-6 second "clock" and then the light would just go on after that and stay on. So I thought. if it will shut off from that small amount movement, maybe I can adjust the sensor so it is a tiny bit "Off" the regular mark.
