Of course the work is beautiful, but I just had to comment today on your sweet way of speaking. I have a son about your age and I cannot imagine him describing anything as "just like your cleaning a baby's face." to describe gently wiping the paint off of the door handle. I'm so glad the world hasn't stolen your special way of seeing and expressing yourself.
Ha ha, thank you very much. I do have a funny way with words 🥴😊❤️
Love that transformation with a greenish colour!
Step back, have a cup of tea........ I love this guy! Beautiful transformation!
🤪🤣🤣🤣
Dear Jonathon........Wow, truly scrumptious !
Excellent tutorial! Love the distressing and dimensions piece.
The colors are so Harmonizing, so Calming.

I just finished my first project (a curvy desk) following this tutorial. It came out beautifully. Your channel is the best.
Oh thank you so much it really is appreciated and you keep up the good work I hope to hear that you’ve done many more project soon enough 😊
I’m already onto the next. I love doing this. I’m naturally messy as a painter so your free and easy style really works well for me.
@@carolynhunt7333 That is absolutely the best way magic definitely happens when you allow yourself to be free
You and I have the same taste of furniture Jonathan!! Lol the look of faded beauty. Thanks for sharing. It’s a real beauty. Have a blessed weekend my brother ⚜️🤍⚜️🤍🙏🏽
Love the colors
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your detailed explanations, especially how to use dark wax effectively.
Thank you for being reassuring about painting over wood. My mother told me my whole life.....NEVER EVER PAINT OVER WOOD. You have made me brave. lol. my first project is her hope chest, that was handed down to me. Will be doing some napkin decoupage. Wish me luck!!
So beautiful ❤️
You make it look so easy, and your laid back teaching style demonstrates how much joy you get from the art you create.
That blue piece to the right is stunning, but I’ve no place for the color in my Apt. I would love to see you do a red/orange piece that would mimic the technique you used on that blue one. Thank you for your time, for sharing your talent with us
Oh Sandy thank you very much for leaving me such a lovely comment I’ll be sure to try and get a red or orange piece into one of my tutorials pretty soon ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful piece of furniture. Your choice of paint is pretty. You are a great teacher and your explanation makes it easy to understand.
Oh that makes my heart sing I’m so pleased that it comes across well as I am a visual learner so I’d hoped to think that this would help lots of other people 😊
I really like the Chateau gray, didn't realize how green it is. Looks beautiful
Yes people say that, in different ways a lot of people think it is a grey but I see it more as green😊
Marc... I need a bigger house to be able to paint all of these things myself and keep them.
What a gift you have ❤️🤍💙

I'm loving your videos. I have a large bookcase of no great merit that i'm going to use these techniques on. I'd love it if you would summarise the products and colours used in the description. :)

JMM -- Well , that was masterful! Your choice of colors. & waxing techniques & patiently teaching is much appreciated .. The piece is beautiful & just gives such an elegant vibe .. the wall hanging above it is gorgeous ! Love the way you style your home !
Thank you so much really appreciate you taking the time to give me such a lovely come out happy painting have a lovely day 😊❤️🙏
I found a toothbrush and/or a tile grout cleaning brush found in the dish brush sections, gives more control with the fly specks. just a tip.
What a beautiful piece. I’m having the best time binge watching your channel. Jonathon, you are so very talented, so very creative and a great teacher. 💋
I've just finished watching your Crackled Country French finish and loved it, but of course now I love this one too! I think I'd like to do something like this, but using an Annie Sloan blue as the base? Maybe?
Would you ever consider using decoupage paper in those middle panels, portraits perhaps, and making them look as if they were real paintings? This was such a wonderful tutorial! I love the fly specks. I grew up in New England. Fly specks were everywhere on the outsides of the painted wood window frames, but they weren't painted on.🤣🪰
Thank you very much you are an amazing teacher your description is so detailed! I love the way it turned out! I can’t wait for your next tutorial!
Oh thank you so much that really means the world to me 🙏❤️
Haces un trabajo precioso, la pena es que no entiendo todo lo que dices, pero me encanta
Wow!! So gorgeous!
i use a stiff toothbrush and do the flicking. you need a stiff bristle brush. you have more control. more water too.
Outstanding project piece and tutorial. I felt like I was watching and learning from a truly knowledgeable furniture artist who can recreate timeless historical pieces. Happy to discover your videos!
Wow thank you so much that really means the world to me and welcome to my channel 😊🙏
Woah!! One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen 👏😍
Wow that’s a great compliment 🙏
So glad I found your channel. You’re an excellent instructor and artist. I’m getting ready to paint an eight foot long library bookcase with a ladder and this has given me the confidence I needed to tackle this piece. Thanks from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
Oh thank you very much and wow what an exciting time to be painting something so mammoth please send me some pictures I would love to see some progress of how you get along with your project 😊😊😊
Dark wax is fascinating
❤❤❤
you can also do the flicking with your wrist
💓💓💓💓
I recently found you and love your Videos. It gave me a lot of inspiration.Want to paint and decoupage 2 small furniture pieces. The Annie Sloan paint is wonderful ,but so expensive.I know you work with her.I might have to start with a different brand.Do you have a suggestion?,I am learning a lot from you. With patience and believing in me I can do it.I love the pieces you do.Super nice.Thank you for sharing your passion.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Do you think that you would do a piece with very bright colours? My house doesn’t do pale or greens so fingers crossed for something different as far as colour goes. Love watching your vlogs I learn so much.
Yes I’ve got a blended place coming up soon with real bright colours I think it might be perfect for your style should be coming up in the next couple of weeks 😊
It’s over distressed to now it looks like it needs painted again. It was so pretty before
I always get red bleed through when I paint over mahogany. Any suggestions on how you block that from happening?

Please advise on treatment of wood worm........THX
In the UK I use a woodworm treatment card Q Pannell it’s very simple and very effective
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove I’m in the US and a client purchased a French armoire that arrived with a ‘colony’ of woodworm. She was not able to use it and thus it is stored in a barn. The winter freeze may have taken care of the problem but I would like to know a better way. I’m not familiar with the British method. Can you supply more info? Thanks. Judi Nigh, Kentucky, USA.
I’d probably not do the fly speck because it didn’t really need it and most importantly, I’m too chicken
A little question some say after waxing you need after months to rewax again is that correct ?reprotection again ?
It’s a great question and I would honestly say I have never rewaxed after a month not unless there is a scratch or some other issues what I would say is it would probably take nearly that amount of time for the wax to cure properly so to be careful and tell him it’s hard time to harden and cure
Hello 👋
What did you do with the top?
Just exactly the same as I did the sides 😊
Oh I Forgot Was that the Brown Wax or the Black ! It was a bit Hard to See 🤔
It was brown wax it’s my absolute favourite ❤️
I think a bit less on the scuffs
Do you sell these
Yes I do sell my work but unfortunately this was done a long time ago and found its new home back then 😊
Loved the aged look Until you did the flicking of paint & then didn’t like it anymore as that just looks terrible on it
Ugh the video went black midway thru!
hello. I am so sorry. The piece is unique. I would not paint the furniture. It tells a story!!!!
I LOVE YOUR WORK...BUT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU DISTRESS EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE YOU PAINT...??
So you useless these
