The mind should not be a storage place for ideas, but a generator of high-quality ideas. Well said!
Agreed
Love this concept!!
absolutely
Yes
I literally erote that quote down. Brilliant
True pure focus is the wildest feeling, I just went into flow state when working on a modeling project for Accounting, I didn’t look at my phone or even the time on my computer once. I started at 7pm and finished at 11Pm and when I was done it felt like I was only working for 5 minutes.
Adderall does it
Similar thing happened to me once, I was preparing for my exams, doing a night study, I sat at 1 and finished at 4.30, felt like it's just been 30 min or less...that feeling is just amazing!!
@Linh Nguyen how is it being a modern slave lol?? Being under phone for hours is more of a modern slave than working lol. Working is the right way to use your energy
its because the flow state if your able to notice feels like your in slow motion
Video games is actually the first time I discovered flow state.
More on the delayed gratification: A good strategy is just to get bored.
Imagine you get no internet for a whole day. It is something you wake up knowing you can't do anything about. You will read that book, clean your room, wash the dishes. Anything will get more interesting than just doing nothing.
You procrastinate because your life is too interesting. If you make it a little more boring, you will do what you must. That "delayed" gratification is not "delayed" anymore if it is the only one that exists in your life.
The way of thinking you described
has led me to this decision: Whenever I go to a library I leave my smartphone at home and take with me an old phone without Internet connection.
Deep
A variation of this is time blocking an activity. That's when you fully commit to doing the ONE THING you want to do for a specific block of time. You do this ONE THING & nothing else.
Say you want to write a book. You close the door, tell everyone not to disturb you, get rid of all electronics (or if using a comp, use an app to keep you off internet).
Then you sit there for an hour (or whatever) doing nothing but writing. If there is resistance, sit there doing nothing.
Because you've eliminated everything else, you'll eventually get BORED of doing nothing & start writing.
Do this every day & you'll make progress.
Aka Dopamine Detox
Yes I agree my sister was recommending to me a dopamine detox and I wanna do this for sure thanks!

Yes, it was really quite frusturating the fact that this list was not working 100% sad :( what i want in my life just the ability to control this state 100% fully
Let things come.

When I sit down to write, I leave my phone in another room. Personally, I find music distracting when writing, however, I light a candle. I only burn a candle while writing, so it triggers my mind that it’s time write. I also have a firm “no Internet” rule while writing. If I need to look something up, I make a note of it in a separate notebook I keep on my desk, use brackets in my manuscript where I’ll need the information and continue writing.
Melissa..as a published author & working on my next book, do whatever works for you (clearly ; ) Famous contemporary author-don’t recall which-said ‘writing’s not hard, sitting down to write IS’... how true for me too (especially w/ a 9-5 & other pursuits)!!!
I wish you nothing but success.. who knows, your book could revolutionize the world! But even if ‘just’ one person, you’ve revolutionized *their world!!
STOP reading the comments and focus on the video.
A huge thanks ahaha

This is that much more important with individual with ADHD like myself. Our focus tank is small to begin with, though we can "hyper focus" at times. Monkey ×2 tbh
@Karan For me: Become extra interested in it (very difficult with bad instructor), or get into competition with another student of your approximate level (for the best grade/scores-keep it fun), get a tutor that makes it more interesting than the instructor (perhaps offers better insights and alternative approaches), or wait until the night before the exam! But that last one only works if you can perform under pressure like I do. Pressure gives me focus, it's not good for everybody. Perhaps an accountability partner to "quiz you along". You have to WANT it to make any of these work and even when you find something that works this time, it may not work next time. Be flexible. Check out "How to ADHD" channel for more good stuff.
@Karan i would first do research on adhd, get to know your condition ( and your mind) and understand it better ( links : czcams.com/video/_tpB-B8BXk0/video.html www.additudemag.com/understanding-adhd-hyperfocus/ ,) Then what I did is changed my internal and external environment so I get in my flow ( www.verywellmind.com/what-is-flow-2794768 ,) for ex, I removed my ps4 from my room, added a 4×8 white board (external) because of this I'm more productive and chances of me getting into hyper focus increases . Make systems to help you out ( organization system, second brain system, reward systems etc) and for me meditation helped me the most, but like the individual above said , for us adhders the level of interest will determine how focused we can be. You can get in to hyper focus in reading bc your into it. But not math, so what I would do is change your perception on matH, I used hate math but when I realize how important and amazing it is, my interest level when up and now I love math(learning in general) , the universal language. Anyway I'm still figuring out what work for me, every mind is different, btw I'm not on medication
Oh and keep a positive mindset when doing research, the truth sucks.
I totally agree with this and to get niche in this area is important because there are slight differences. I have to find all tips to help in this srea.
Karan you have to be in a war state of mind , if one of us go to war we all go to war, we are not here to take part we are here to take over
To me, it is hilarious that we must do such things in order to prevent ourselves from not doing what we actually want to or need to do.
I mean, how much control over ourselves do we humans really have?
Ask social mediw
Hey guys, it's normal to find difficulty in reaching the flow state at first. It takes practice!! Embrace any progress; you'll get better soon!
Knowledge is power.
Applied knowledge is powerful!
Self-mastery is the ultimate form of power.
I have power over my mind--not outside events--
realize this I will find strength to not merely bear what is necessary
but love it.
Great comment dude
Most people are not willing to do something hard. If you are, then you will set yourself apart from the crowd. Sometimes, you just need to keep going when you're not yet seeing the results. This was true of my meditation music channel. When nothing seemed to be going right, I just kept making videos and now it's paying off as subscriber numbers are growing. Never give up.
Ur mixes r cool btw

Thank you for making these videos. They always arrive at just the right time.
You deserve more credit for your high quality vidéos brother. I always get motivated after watching your content.
Take on challenges, like do the same work in less time or work on new subjects.
It will increase the probability to enter a state of flow.
I started watching adifferent video on 'flow' but stopped halfway through, after 5 seconds of this video I was captivated. Extremely well done, concise and insightful. Thanks so much.
When I I enter the zone my mind was full with the best moment of my life
1:52 I love this comprehensive list of external distractions.
I'm always looking for ways to be more productive and simple lists like this always help
This video honestly blew my mind and in the best way possible. Thanks for this ;)
This video was really enjoyable and full of awesome information! My two action steps are going to be to become more regular with journaling and writing stuff down, as well as turning off all notifications and putting my phone far away from me while I work.
Meditation sounds interesting.. I'm not there yet, but I am interested in trying it eventually!
To tame the Monkey Mind I use a To Do sheet, a Good Ideas sheet, and Calendar sheet in an Excel workbook.
I no longer worry about appointments or tasks due because everything is calendared.
I capture ideas on either the Good Ideas sheet or an existing Project sheet (I have many projects in various stages) so they are put out of my mind until later when _I choose to review and marinate these ideas._
At the end of the day, I review my calendar to mark completions and / or revise my tasks for the near future.
If I can, I try to reward myself for completing tasks I really don't want to do, such as yard work.
One of the best videos ever - fantabulous!
Excellent video. Thanks for posting.
Anybody feel a bit of fright with intense and calm focus??
It almost feels too smooth and as if you’re effortlessly moving with a splash of intense awareness.
Idk maybe I’m just crazy but aren’t well all brothers!!💪🏼
This is so helpful thank you for this content 🙏🏼
This is valuable info and advice, illustrated and to the point! Definitely subscribing
Thank you for this video.
Thanks for talking about internal distractions
Everyone always says put the phone away and stop going on social media but that doesn’t really work for everyone and it’s hard to just stop thinking about other things at the snap of your fingers
May the Flow be with you.
Great Tips...Thanks!!!
He’s not lying the flow state is powerful I had people on how did I do something they never seen before and my response was” I don’t know how I did that and I just went with the flow” 😅 migatte gokui is powerful as said by this guy
move it!!! been doing slowly this but didn't notice I was doing it!
For people that have a struggle starting or get anxious when you do stuff, this is a message for you, the moments that you are not doing or you feel that you are not doing enough, just, breath and do nothing, as the actor de Captain America said in one interview(yes, I do not remember his name), just shhhh, don't think, let it go, those moments of stress are just not worth it :)
(For more information about this look for Captain America, what would you have said to your younger self? You will find the video about that, I enjoyed it)
Hope you all have a nice day.
Chris Evans is his name.
Thanks me later.
Thanks for this
Wonderful! Perfect timing too as I am studying for the GMAT exam. Lol 😂 Apparently CZcams is a huge distraction of mine that needs to be managed. Thank you so much for this video 😊
thank you very much

I started putting my phone in another room and turning on focus music.. able to get far more done this way. Idk why a phone close by is so tempting!!

the monkey and tree analogy kinda freaked me out cuz like 2 minutes before i closed my eyes and let my mind run wild and i was parting the sea, riding the sharks, playing with lions and tigers and i started swinging on the branches and soon as i got the to swinging on branches part he made the monkey analogy😳
i've never heard a british person say the phrase "Monkey Mind" so many times, but i need more
Good video
I once reached for state in piano tiles

Kinda like ultra instinct

BRUH OMG I JUST DID THAT A FEW HOURS AGO! ALSO THATS HOW I MASTERED THE FLOW STATE
@@Ok-km7ju WAIT WHAT
It help listening to music - like chillpop or classical music when you study. Getting on the meditation wagon too. Thank you for sharing wonderful advice - the eternal student
So basically this whole principle is the marshmallow test for adults(instant vs later gratification)
That's mindblowing
I would suggest an overview of the whole video bringing out the key points in the video at the end to make the video better and easier to digest
Thank you for your video; can you provide us an example of how you meditate? Do you focus on breathing? Or are there other ways to limit distraction in your thoughts?
This video/article certainly can do wonders for productivity and I really like it. Unfortunately it misses the core concept of flow. Flow is in a sense instant gratification as it in an autotelic experience. Meaning the thing you're doing is enjoyable in itself. If you reach flow state, you don't need to remove yourself from distractions because you lose interest in them. While it helps to have no distractions to increase the chance of flow, the main thing people should be doing is match the challenge with their skill. Something is too hard or too vague? break the task down. Too easy? Do something extra to give it more flair!
The whole concept of flow is to make every aspect of life more enjoyable and is described as the optimal experience. It can happen in sports, work, art, cooking and is even documented in war (weirdly enough).
Distractions (such as the internal distractions) can also induce flow. The key is to get into flow with things that matter, and I think that's an important distinction to make as most of this video is geared toward removing other potential flow-sources. Which I ironically did not do and now I am writing this nitpicky comment.
thanks, i now can achieve ultra instinct
4:57 "thinking is a double edged sword" *draws single bladed sword*
Doubled edged not double bladed
i was also thinking about it, the single sword has double sharp sides to it.search double edged sword 😂, the video is not wrong.
@@WhatGarage They're the same, you dingus.
When im playing games i actuallly do it but in some situations i can do that flow state when you experience the flow state you will make unstoppable and you will dominate the game but this is hard to do
and always concentrate and dont lose your focus
Ultra Instinct!
Tip:When your trying to go in the flow state Calm down your brain like chill it out kinda like let everything go.
Awesome!!!
i wil do it!
1) Meditate
2)download a websiteblocker
Thanks!!!
So cool to hear your thoughts on being in the flow state!
I like the video, but this one made me chuckle: 5:01 - 'thinking is a double - edged sword' and a drawing of a LITERALLY single edge sword appears :D
How do you meditate? Everyone says meditate but what exactly is meditation explain plis
Exactly
@Shadow The Judgehog -- I say this with respect to you: Don't expect a CZcams commenter to answer your question; go get the answer yourself by searching for _meditation._

Isn’t it crazy just how much of a distraction our phones have become?
Betterment Initiative didn’t even realize how addicted I was to my phone
Betterment Initiative we’ve become slaves of our phones
What’s a phone?
U got two options in gaming 1 improve slowly by losing constently or master flow state and become unbeatable its really hard to go into this state but its improves u ten fold
Ultra Instinct is real... We did it boys
it took a lot of effort just to watch through this video.... god damn it i need to really work on myself
Pls don't say Goddamn man.
Thanks!😊🤗🤔😃👍
really thank you for the information i will give my own example of the flow state hi my name is Phillip i have took a good look in to the matter of the flow state the flow state is where you take the time to work hard on a task that is difficult of your relaxed and have a clear mind in my idea of it the flow state it is know to kick in about 10-15 mins if you do not have any distractions in what your doing something that you can to do to make it speed up is to meditate for aleast 20 mins before going to bed or find a way to stop all distractions by using items like ear plugs or power off your phone to stop it from ringing if you want to try and enter the flow state at will well you cant the flow state tho its like a temporarily 6 sense if you need to know there are 5 senses and you can stay in the flow state up to 5-6 hours if your a master at it and you go into it often because have master the way of focus well that all i got to say.
sir can u show us how to meditation on your way? thanks
This is a nice video on focus and concentration but those are very different from accessing a true flow state.
Flow from one youtube video to another
Basically stop thinking and just do what your thinking of, don't think how your gonna do it, just do.

What if you need to use your phone for research
I was distracted by this video while doing my work!!! Good video though

So mind is like current and distraction causes mind to short the productivity
funny thing is i know all this, because i've been looking up these videos every once in a while for years now.
nerf monkey mind in next update pls universe.
For me avoiding external distraction is very easy rather than internal distraction. They are first level of a video game and a last level of a video game.
I've had this numerous times lol basketball and gaming was triggered it for me all ik is everything is so quiet
I have no other choice for this good video except subscribe
You can achieve this by literally staying up all night
Lmao
That doesn't sound _too_ crazy. No one will distract you because everyone else is asleep so you can accomplish deep work.
or by waking up at 4 AM
I did that already and nothing didnt happen just a headache and and sleeping half of the day
❤️
It is difficult when you have to work on the computer but the computer itself becomes a source of distraction via internet connection. It feels like my focus has degenerated to that of a house fly.
I think I reach this in work from time to time, but I'm not sure
Is it a sign that if time goes very quickly, that you're in flow state?
Video games is actually the first time I discovered flow state.
