On a deck that uses these hidden fasteners, how can a single board be removed without having to cut it out of place?

The video says "drive the fastener without pre-drilling". But the TimberTech website says "Pre-drilling is always required when installing Cortex in TimberTech decking." So which is it?!

From a technical perspective, the system works as intended when installing without pre-drilling. However, pre-drilling does guarantee the absolute best outcome and many board manufacturers recommend it.

I have used the TC-G system a few time with and with out the gun so my question for you guys is. Can other types of screws be used with the TC-G fasteners? I noticed using an Impacted even going slow the screw nails still seem to break the heads off or strip real easily. Thanks Davan

Where do the plugs come from

They are made from the same composite capping material. Cortex (and Pro-plug brand) are packed w/the screws, plugs and the countersinking bit, but some people do cut/make their own plugs with a plug cutter to varying degrees of success.

Camo is the way to go. Much easier and faster than these methods

Lol what’s the point? As long as the deck is sturdy. Who cares about screw holes

I'd assume the point is for folks who are installing a hidden screw system. You could imagine those individuals not wanting an "almost" fully hidden solution and this fits the bill. I would also say that considering the construction of composite decking you should get better longevity as simply screwing through the protective outer shell will expose moisture to the inner core of the board. Might be getting pedantic here but I do see some benefits myself. My biggest question is how do you get these darn things out if you need to replace the board :)

Boo. Let's just weld it. Strike Mark's and slag burns but it sturdy as@#$%

I care about them. So as many other deck owners who prefer clean look.

Why spackle hammer dimples / screw holes in sheetrock as long as the wallboards are sturdy? It's a finished vs. unfinished look
