WHY does it matter if the item was found in 2016 or 2017?? What does it matter? Isn't the most important thing, what was found, right? Or no?
You guys are amazing! You have inspired me to get into the hobby (at age 54) by showing me the thrill of the hunt. I spent two weeks watching all of your episodes and have decided to get out digging myself and get some much needed exercise. So far I've found one memorial cent and a bunch of trash, but all holes matter. Thank you very much for all you do for metal detecting and for your community.
Mark Haas I am the same age. Haven't done much detecting over the last 20 years. Just too dang busy. My goal this year is to dig me some good coins. My first detector had an on off switch. I dug silver with that. These new machines, even the cheaper ones, are capable of finding coins. Just got to get through the layer of trash.
Don't let your age get in the way....I didn't start digging until I was 59....love it and I'm still at it.

I am 64 years old today and I'm just getting started. This is an incredible hobby considering a lot of my friends go ice fishing and the most they can hope to bring home is a frozen trout.

My husband and I was watching your video's last night. We were watching the one where Bob finds the huge 22K Gold ring with the initials that looked like LBM Clane. At the same time were watching the video's I was doing some research on one of the popular genealogy sites. After taking a good look at the engraving on the ring I could see that it was JB McClane. So I looked up that information. I came up with John Burch McClane, born 31 Jan. 1820 in Delaware. He and his family were living in Maryland up until about 1859. At that time John Burch, his wife Helen and their children moved to Oregon and are listed in the 1860 census of Salem Oregon. They have a 1 year old son (named after his father, JB McClane) showing on the census and being born in Maryland.

It's amazing that we can pick out a find and years later we could actually walk out and show where the hole was we found it at. I can go thru a bucket of finds and for the most part tell you about it. Stand back and look at all your finds, They add up to a museum. Amazing hobby!

The hand drill that bob found is actually an artillery gimlet for cleaning out the vent hole of a canon. It is not a hand drill and it is very possible that it dates to the Civil War. That is an excellent find. Let Bob know. It is in awesome condition.

That chunky gold ring is awesome. I'm a chronic screener, no beeps. I'm at two 14K rings, small 30s or 40s wedding bands, unmarked exc. 14K. Found a seated Quarter, one Indian, 1886 at Yokohamas, all WWII era. A few V nicks, 83, 98, 2x07, a walking half, 1942S in 2007. Some Barber Dimes. My Best, probably. "Pantheon Saloon, good for one draught beer, Enterprise Brewing co., Jim Dodd agent, Honolulu." I was thinking of this, digging in Town 09-10 and found it out here in the Country in 2016. Found some other good stuff, 1915 Territorial Motor Cycle tag, 17 Bicycle tag, 17 Browning mach. gun tripod serial plate. I am now a bottle digger, though I've been digging for "Neat old stuff" from before I was ten, living in the Cal. countryside. That's not a bible, but a matchsafe.
Do you ever find U.S. great seal buttons backmarked "John Gaunt & Sons, London"? I found one in the big WWII dump past Makaha.

Watching this video got me into metal detecting just a few months ago. You guys kick ass.
Now that was an awesome show ! Could'nt help but sit thru it . That Militia plate is too dang cool !
