Im watching this from the side of the road
Did you make it home king?👑
I like the fact that you show as the common mistake inside the video instead of other youtuber where they just verbally say it.
My exact problem
how do you verbal say anything?
@@ptbietz What he's saying is that other youtubers don't demonstrate other problems such as the various types of things sticking into the tube or how a tube can be improperly seated. They probably say "if your tube is not seated correctly, do this". This CZcamsr actually demonstrates with both verbally and video snippets. I hope this helps clarify.
💯 The thoroughness of it allowed me to discover that I had a leak at my valve. This told me exactly how I bust the tire (improper inflating) & told me exactly what I needed to do to avoid doing it again.
Thank you PackTool!
I was considering making a bicycle repair youtube channel, but it looks as if there is no need for it. This is the most thorough, helpful, beautifully HD how to video series I've ever seen. Amazing
Never give up on a dream
Do it anyway. Variety is good
Still do it man, I’ll need your videos to help myself and others
do it for wheelchairs too
I'd do it anyhow. You may have an approach that someone else didn't think of. After al, these guys have every tool imaginable and a shop set up just for bicycles. We don't all have that. Some of us would like to see the "everyman" approach.
Man, you saved my life. Husband always change the flat tires he’s gone on to another life leaving me with a flat tire on the trail. Your instructions covered every single thing I needed to know I was successful thank you so much
that is really beautiful to hear. Im glad you were able to do it and still ride. Best of luck to you and rest in paradise to your husband 🙏
❤
I haven't put together bikes for a long time my son and I jumped on CZcams so he could learn and we stumbled on this channel. I want to say what Amazing! instruction this was!!! I was impressed with your showing multiple valve options and your side by side shots, clear instruction and brilliant lighting made this video easy to watch and easy to understand!!!! We will be coming back here for all our bike referencing needs from now on! Well done!
Couldn't agree more with your comment Chantel. it was a delight watching it. No hand held 'I'm too stingy to buy a tripod' shaking camera, no heavy breathing behind the camera like the presenter is about to have a heart attack, no giggling behind the camera, no focus problems, no rambling, no dirty dingy garage, no some random cat walking in the shot and then the presenter goes off in a tangent about the cat and no "Editing??? what is this pagan magic you speak of???? Editing, never heard of it"
A very good video, with subtle humour, like 'find out what caused the puncture" and there is a massive bolt thru the tyre
That's the same with me! he is amaazing very clear and helpful instructions, even for a simpleton like me that has never done something like this.!
@@siobhannelson493 you're not a simpleton- merely unlearned. you are correcting that and i applaud your desire to learn.

Just replaced my front tube using this tutorial! So proud of myself. Thank you to the team putting this content together.
Extremely helpful. This actually took me the same amount of time to change the tube on my bike as it did to watch the whole video. Thank you. This was the first time I have ever changed a bike tube. Great Tutorial!

I agree. It's the most informative. One click, all I need.

Really enjoyed the self hand-slap when inserting the lever at the valve. Gonna remember that now.
This video saved me a lot of time waiting for appointment at the bike shop and about $20! I had a spare tube and was able to make my first swap at 45 years old! Was also a good mother/daughter teaching moment. Thanks!
I'm 40 and just changed an inner tube for the first time ever. My 9yo is so happy.
What an exceptionally well-made tutorial. You thought of everything for us and obviously have great respect for your audience. This was extremely helpful. Thank you for posting this!
I am just going to buy a new bike.
Artur me too this is just too much
You are so lazy.
I don't think y'all realize this is a joke.
I often think this is the sensible option. The definition of madness is "doing the exact same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome". I always expect I might master this one day without a nervous breakdown and copious amounts of bad language and tears in a rural field surrounded by dung.
D Fine this comment is legendary
Good video. The tools make this process more easy.
Many people will just pay for the service, because it's easier.
Agreed. But I realized if I can't change a tube or tire myself I'll never fix a flat on trail to get home
came here to see if it's ok to still use screw drivers, like I did as a kid
Bernie Smith I guess it depends on your bike. I’ve done it alone several times. I kept getting flats in my rear tire. I finally realized I needed a new tire as the one on the bike was badly worn. I replaced both tires and tubes alone. Much success to you.
Tyre levers
I used spoon to remove the tire. I guess I damaged both of my new tubes. That tire lever is essential tool.
I know how to do this but watching park tool is so relaxing
I keep coming back to this video whenever I need to repair a tire tube.

i’ve been installing tubes/tires for 20+ yrs and that shit has never gone this easy hahaha
After just one watch, I now feel like I am capable of repairing my tire.
I'm with. This guy teaches faster than Morpheus teaching Neo kung-fu.
Thanks! I just bought new tires for my bike, and I've never changed them before. This video brought an end to two hours of confusion.
This was a godsend for me. I had been dreading trying to take off my wheel for repair myself out of fear of damaging the new parts, but your tutorial was the best find for me. I would pause and rewatch segments to follow your steps and I finally got the tubes replaced. Thank you so much, I will be off riding my bicycle
Nah
This is exactly what I fear too 😅! I have very limited money and I'm so worried I will blow this tube 🫣. I'm concerned after watching this 😂 Especially considering I have no clue how much air is enough or not enough 😬
That was a real good how-to video, thank you! I just removed my hubby's back wheel and changed the tube on my own!
Glad it helped!
Thank you most helpful to an 82 year old
Subbed because of this video. Precise, to the point, and detailed enough to be informative but not oversaturated as to make the video 30m long.
Park Tool videos are great! Very well organized and produced. I like that they show how to do everything on multiple bicycle parts. Thanks guys!
Thank you. I just did 4 wheels and inner tube. Was definitely easier watching you do it. My hands hurt but my kids will be so excited!!
Glad it helped!
I frequently find myself watching "how to" videos and I'm usally left frustrated because usally they either don't show important steps or waste way to much time with nonsense filler to try and make the video longer, but this one was genuinely a great "how to" video. Nice job👍
I’m repairing a tricycle tire as a beginner and this was very helpful
Park tool just manages to consistently make the best videos on bicycle repair across YT. Excellent camera angles, clear directions, perfect captions and excellent sequencing of the process or steps. Thanks for all your vids.
I return to this video every time I need to replace a tube. Thank you!
Love the popping sound when the tyre sits in the rim properly☺😉
Thank you, super video. I haven't changed a bike tire since I was 11 years old (61 years ago!) Needed a brushup, yours is perfect, very professional.
Cheers to people that grew up without a dad that taught them this. You’re not alone

As a cyclist, I was ashamed to admit that I don't know how to change a tube until this video came along. So detailed and beautifully done that I have the confidence to buy a tube and change it myself after only watching this video twice. Hope my tube last long enough before the next puncture.
No need to feel ashamed. I replaced tyres and tubes for the first time today, including I unmounted the wheels from a bicycle for the first time in my life.
There's a first time for everything. You will only fail if you never try.
@@marioschroers7318 True. Very true.
Never done it either, it's my first bike in 15 years and I never learnt this stuff as a kid
Thanks for the help. I've been able to return to a childhood passion that I left aside for about 7 years, because as a kid, I kept trying to pump up the tyre, not realising that the tube was busted. Thanks to this video, I realised that I had a perfectly functioning replacement tube sitting there the whole time, and once I learned how to install it, I was all good =).
Man, imagine how many people would have to find all this extra stuff out the hard way if this video had just been a basic how-to and nothing else. These guys really went above and beyond.
Just repaired my first inner tube for twenty years after a half inch slit was found in the tube after it blew out .
New rim tape was applied properly on both rims and a patch applied to the tube .
But a winner in the end with help from the video above .
Thankyou that was really helpful for a dad to get his son on the bike, from a dad who hadn't learn bike stuff all his life.
I just changed a bike tyre for the first time in my life! 🎉
I am 50! This video was spot on. Thank you 😊
I am 46 and came here to say the same thing!! Thank you! Very clear and easy to follow steps.
Excellent instructions - now I install them like a pro!
Thanks for this video. It was all I watched to fix my son’s bicycle wheels. Having put the repair aside for about a month,i contemplated taking to a repair shop , this video was the fix. The joy on his face was priceless. Thanks again
Very clear and descriptive explanation. Loved how you covered each possible problems.
Hi! I just recently got myself a pair of those amazing TL 6.2 . Best levers ever! they made the installation of my Maxxis Hookworms so enjoyable!
1:43 “Bad! Get away from that valve you naught little hand” best part of the video
Thanks. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out the difference between a tire and a tube, even with reading multiple articles and spending a lot of time staring at my bike. It made no sense and it was so frustrating 😂. Then I figured a good visual aid would help. Took me half the video, and then it clicked. Ohhhh! That makes sense!
It’s a good thing too. I realized today my tires (or tubes I guess) aren’t holding air and go flat in minutes. Not very surprised, I took my bike with me on a 6 month RV trip across the country with a cheap bike rack.
But now I know I should only need to replace the tubes. Which is great cause I really like my tires. We’ll see how long they can last (if they are still lasting).
🤗
Awesome dude, simple and no extra talk. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you! Way easier than what I was trying. I managed with the back end of spoons in place of tire levers
Never changed a tube in my life, and now my bike is ready to go. Thanks!
I used this video to help me to change my rear bike tire tube. I've NEVER changed a bike tire tube EVER. It took more time than it would for a pro but I need to know how to do this as I plan some really long bike rides, solo, and I don't want to be that helpless woman on the trail. This is better information than another video I watched. I HOPE I did everything properly. I have an old 10 speed bike I'd like to rebuild and I will put the new tires and tubes on that as well. Thank you for the information.
Awesome. Thank you.
A little embarrassing. I use to fix my bike tires my entire childhood but for the life of me couldn't remember the steps. Even put a hole in the new inner tube trying to fix it by memory. So here I am.
It happens dude
Wow that’s _a lot_ of visual examples of potential issues, thanks for putting so much time and effort into getting and collecting them all in together!!
I was able to fixe my bike for the first time alone because of you, thank you !

Thanks Calvin! I am a 52 year old woman and just successfully changed the tube in my bicycle tire.
Great informative video. Clear, concise and to-the-point.
Great DIY video. Saved me a trip to a bike shop and avoided paying $ for parts and labor. Thank you!
They make this sound so relaxing and easy. I'm that guy that is sweating profusely with greasy black fingers on the side of a road while my bike club decides to be nice and "wait" and provide an audience watching me repair my tire. All while I'm thinking in my head, "fck me...I have white handlebar tape"
Hahahhaa
Haha I was thinking the same thing😀
Same experience bro
Nice video. With this information I can better manage my inner tubes and keep them fit for the road. Thanks
genuinely really appreciate the time you took to go through the different punctures and how and why they happen. i watch a lot of baking/cooking videos and my pet peeve is when they say 'dont do x or y will happen' and there are 0 examples (in their video or uploaded by anyone else) of what they're telling you what to watch out for. going through all the scenarios of how a tire pops and overinflating the tire to show the exact type of pop you'll experience is incredibly informative
Thank you so much for this helpful video. I was able to successfully replace my bicycle's inner tube with your help. I'm a 59 yr old female, and I've never changed a bicycle inner tube before. You made it easy!
I love your channel, it is so useful and the way you explain is great and easy to understand! Thank you for all these videos and I hope you will keep them coming. Best of luck!
Thanks Calvin, since its been 50+ years since I've done this, great to watch someone do it correctly, I just did the front 4 days ago and already forgot how to do it. Thanks to CZcams and Park tool! Mission acomplished!!
Very detailed explanation on the different possible situations that might be encountered when changing the tyres. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. The instructions were so clear and I changed my first bike inner tube for the first time with this video in 21 minutes. I love the parts where you describe where it can go wrong.
Important for me was to deflate the tube well when taking it off and inflating the tube partially before installing the tire. Otherwise it's quite difficult getting the tire off and on.

I buy and use parktool tools as much as possibly as I can. Because I get the education for free from parktool.

How are there 250+ dislikes for this video? CZcams "bots" or "creative" algorithms? Makes no sense to me. Great instructional video. I would have given it two thumbs up if it were possible. Cheers.
This is a very thorough and clear video. I appreciate you breaking down many parts and doing so in an engaging way. Seeing what damaged parts look like and why that happened is also beneficial. I'm looking forward to working on my two bikes soon.
Thank you for teaching this single mom so I could teach my kids! I am NOT good at this kind of thing but I did it, thanks to you. Terrific video and so helpful!

Old dude cycling for the first time in ages says, "Thank you!"
the trick with a soap water to put tire in right place is awesome :) thanks
I am eternally grateful, had a pinhole puncture and had to replace the tube. I was trying to fit a continental gp 5000 clincher without tire levers and spent three hours juggling with trying to fit it onto the rim without any success. I was about to take the rim the next day to a bike shop. I looked for various videos for guidance but yours was the one that worked. I took a deep breath, followed your instructions and worked the bead around the rim patiently. It finally fit! Love the channel. It was my first try at replacing an inner tube too! Thank you!
First time, and so much easier than I expected. Feeling accomplished!
everyone here knows at one point they just used a screwdriver instead of tire levers or in a real pinch a butter knife, lol, we're all guilty of it.

Hi from Wellington. I have a lot of opportunities to make use of your very good tutorial with the roads here, full of glass shards and wires. 3 punctures in 4 months.
is it okay to use a air compressor at a low setting to inflate a bike tire
With the proper fitting, an air compressor is definitely acceptable.
Park Tool makes a bicycle-specific attachment for air compressors: www.parktool.com/product/shop-inflator-inf-2
Otherwise, a standard Schrader valve attachment is adequate, as long as you are mindful not to overinflate. Check with a pressure gauge as you fill.
Thank you very much! I'm huge into mountain biking, but since i'm quite young i didn't know how to properly change a tube and all. After watching this video I now know how to properly do all of the necessary things involving bike tires. Yet again thanks so much! Keep up the great work.

Then you need to stop working on bikes.

That's as thorough of an instructional video as I've ever seen. Thank you very much for all the facets you shared for replacing a bike tire tube. Very helpful!
Thanks so much. I changed my first tube and tire tonight by watching your video
This was so helpful. Now, all I need is a new tube, tire, bike levers, maybe an air pressure inflator to save me some energy and time, oh and some money to purchase all of this.
I just watched a video where the mechanic suggested ending at the valve when mounting because it gives the opposite side of the tire room to seat itself in the inner, deepest, part of the rim during the mounting procedure. That makes installing a tight tire much easier because it maximizes bead clearance. If the opposite is done then the valve interferes with the tire's bead and that reduces clearance. It makes sense. This is apparently very important for some notoriously tight tires such as Continental Gatorskin tires. A similar technique is necessary to mount car tires by hand. You have to position the bead over the deep center of the rim or the opposite bead will not clear the rim without extreme force that may not be possible to apply by hand. In fact , rims are designed precisely to provide this clearance.
Thats correct. That is what most tire and rim manufacturers are suggesting now. It can make a big difference.
