      I'm Reckoning if it's not suitable for kids it's really not suitable for adults. I know full well that nudity and sex are always there to pack the seats because people want to see other people naked. I get it but it's also evil. Clothing represents armor a form of protection against the sexual gaze. The actor actresses turned into a sexual object to be used by others essentially raped remotely. They can be used as an object of masturbation for all eternity long after they're even dead. It's a form of controller power over others. When somebody has clothing on it has never been seen naked except by their natural intimate partner, then they have that protection. In real life we don't see other people naked so why should the audience. The only person we ever see normally is our intimate partner of which they really supposed to be only one for your entire life but since the nuclear family is being destroyed, that ideal has been wrecked at least for the time being. I suspect when the pendulum swings the other way it's going to swing very violently and not without justification. In any event watching other people naked and having sex or at least simulated sex, maybe, he is all about exerting power over the actor and actress and that power is shared between the producers, director studios, even the performance unions, and of course the audience. In general one cannot say that there is ever true consent and on the rear occasion where somebody is anxious to get naked on film or stage or on television, it is very likely because they suffer from the recognize mental illness from the dm5 manual of exhibitionism and/or narcissism. In which case when you're mentally ill, you really don't have that kind of consent as well. Nudity and sex are never required to move a story along or to understand the character. We always have to judge other people's character by how we normally see them every day and I work lives or as we interact with them in a more normal setting that is almost always non-sexual. All nudity is sexual because a sexual thought will always pass through and I really don't care what the other circumstances are, or the participants ages or physical shape, nudity will always even briefly bring up a sexual thought or you're lying to yourself because every normal human being is going to have that. How about we start trying for something a little bit more enlightened and not the base, crass or crude. Sex, nudity and sexuality belong between intimate partners and only and I repeat only between those partners because then there is true intimacy. New did he also does represent intimacy and intimacy that can never happen between the actor and the audience. That intimacy only belongs between intimate partners. Yeah I know, acquaint idea, huh? But then I was born a very, very, very long time ago. A very long time ago.

    In my humble opinion, Lindsey Wagner, was by far, one of the most beautiful women to ever appear on camera. She guest starred in a couple of episodes of Blood & Treasure that aired just a few months ago. I'm glad she's still active...having grown up in the 70s, and being a fan of both Bionic series, it's like seeing an old friend...They don't make 'em like Lindsey anymore!

    • @richardranke3158
      @richardranke3158 Před rokem +7

      I heartily agree. I was fortunate enough to meet Lindsay Wagner in late 1971. She was with her husband(?)sitting in back of me on a rapid-transit train. She was reading the script for the movie Two People that she'd be in with Peter Fonda. I chatted with her a little bit and when I had to get off the rapid I said goodbye to her with,"If your name's ever up in lights I'll remember you." I saw many shows that she guested in over the next few years, but ironically I missed her first appearance in The $6,000,000.00 Man. I sure made up for it by seeing her Bionic Woman series,including her award-winning performance. That was the two-parter where a lookalike imposter was trying to switch places with her. Lindsay really added depth and emotion to an otherwise gimmick-show.

I feel very lucky to have been able to be a witness to her talent in the 1970's, and to say nothing of the many other great T.V. shows of that decade! The Six Million Dollar Man 2 part episode "The Bionic Woman" was NOT intended as a back-docor pilot ... it was simply that the episode was a rating bonanza --- which led to her return! The actual 'back door pilot' was the 'Six Million Dollar Man' episode 'The Return of the Bionic Woman' AND it was sooo exciting! The show was unique in the 70's and Lindsay Wagner was wonderful; also a series with a literally very physically power female lead was relatively unheard of at the time; this mix of actor & unique premise made 'The Bionic Woman' an extremely wonderful series and Wagner's portrayal ( to this day) was both endearing and intense. A rare case of the spin-off bettering the original series. Though the MOST amazing heart rendering story of both series was her original introduction in the 'The Six Million Dollar Man'. Jamie's ultimate breakdown filmed in the rain, just prior to her death... to this day remains one of the MOST heartbreaking scenes from any TV show I've watched ... let alone her following death scene, where Steve Austin ( the ultimate alpha male) broke down and cried. This was an unseen behaviour for male heroes on 1970's TV.
    "The Bionic Woman" will FOREVER remain THE highlight of 70's television scifi for me and Lindsay 's Jamie Sommers remains deeply etched into my memories!

    Just to let everyone know, Mr. Majors is indeed alive and well at 83 years young!
    For the people who made this video, you should preview your videos and make sure everything is right.
    I started watching Six Million Dollar Man when it started out as pert of anthology series and then when it was on it’s own and after Bionic Woman went out on her own…
    It’s a shame these ended when they did, but I enjoyed the reunion movies they did.
    I think they might have confused Lee Majors with Richard Anderson and Martin E. Brooks, who played Oscar Goldman and Dr. Rudy Wells respectively.
    In the pilot movie, Martin Balsam played Dr. Wells, but didn’t play him in the regular series because “….he didn’t want to be the one to fix something on his electronic tush every week….”.

What is really cool about both of them was the fact that they were always very down to earth. In fact, numerous people who had met and known both Lynne and Wagner often remarked at how truly kind they were and that they never had an ounce of pretentiousness about them. You would never guess that they were even famous. It's been hard enough enduring the loss of such great celebs just this past year. Looking back, I saw The Bionic Woman as just another superhero kicking butt -- and remember only cringing when she was undercover in a beauty contest and actually sang for the talent competition. I believe she covered "Feelings (whoa whoa whoa feelings...)" with a cheesy orchestral arrangement.

    This was one of my favorite shows because Lindsay Wagner is such a likeable actress. The camera loves her and so do the fans. I watch all her movies. Lindsay Wagner is an extremely underrated actress. Proof of point is she wasn't just on the Rockford Files she was chosen to be on the pilot episode and was one of the few guest stars to come back as the same character. The way the second episode was written I think they left it open to see the character again. They even had the character Beth Davenport Rockford's lawyer jealous of her.
    In my opinion the reason for the popularity of the show Bionic Woman I think is due to Lindsay's ability as an actor. She had way more range than Lee Majors therefore the plots could be much more complex. I didn't see it, I was 16 when the show was canceled, but I don't think Lee Majors could handle such a subtle plot for his shows ending. No offense to him but Lindsay Wagner is/was an exceptional actor

    Loved, loved, LOVED these shows as a kid! I was absolutely heart broken when they didnt come back the following season, but not really understanding things like cancellation at such a young age. I had the Steve Austin 12” Action Figure Rocket and my sister had Jaime Somers, though they always seemed to make cooler accessories for her than Steve (I still want that Mission Brief Case/Purse thingie even tho now I can’t remember what features it had that fascinated me so as wee child). :-) I did get annoyed that Steve’s left eye was just a black oval so kids could use his bionic eye…a weird gimmick that I think failed utterly and made the doll, er Action Figure, look terrible. I remember some enemy ANdroid figure had masks and one was Steve Austin and it looked just like him! So sometimes I’d pretend he was the real Steve becuse he looked real and didnt have a giant black oval for an eye! :-) The rubber roll up skin to see their bionic parts caused me endless frustration as mine popped off and I couldn’t get it back on…man I wish I could go back and help my young self, I was so heartbroken when a beloved toy broke and adults just didnt seem to care or understand the importance! :-) More recently, several years back I saw a bona ride Steve Austin action figure in the smaller Star Wars size-scale, but when I went to order Steve and Bigfoot (Squee!!!!) they were both out of stock and never have been available again to this day! Another heartache that felt all too familiar from memories. Sigh, I guess if I had gotten then I’d have been forever wanting a Jaime Sommers to go with them, and would have instead been stressed about that. No wonder I’m a messed up adult, LOL!!!

    In the series it was revealed that before Jaime Summers-Steve Austin became Bionic and like his counterparts had been injured then restored with artificial limbs. A German Shepard named Max the Bionic Dig was adopted by Summers and went on some adventures with Her having new legs and a bite to match. However there Bionic Bigfoot, another Bionic Agent who opted to have regular strength instead having gotten carried away with his prosthetics. In a crossover episode Jaime-Steve and the Bionic Bigfoot who had been rebuilt by benevolent aliens teamed up to throw a charge into a volcano to stop its eruption. One standout two parter in the Bionic Women was when Jaime had to take on a mega computer determined to carry out its creators bluff that he would destroy the world by making it real. Andre the Giant played the first Bigfoot on the Six Million Dollar Man and the next was Ted Cassidy on thr crossover at almost 7ft tall who had played Lurch on the Addams Family a decade before. One tricked they used was to run the film backwards of a stunt performer actually going off not on a building etc so it appeared they jumped to it instead and the slow motion of the characters using their Bionics not speeded up like running was another.

I just watched her latest movie, "When Jack Came Back" and cried my way through it, and now and reliving my childhood, once again, through the "Bionic Woman". Doesn't matter if she is 27 or 74, she is stunning, and highly talented. I have ALWAYS admired her commitment to animals, the planet and clean living. She walks her talk, which is a rare trait in someone in an industry which appears to value deceit. I always go back to "The Bionic Woman" and her movies when I need comfort, as I do "The Waltons" and "Little House". My very favorite episodes were those of she and the the first "Max"- excellent acting by both she and Bracken. That dog should have been kept on as the series should not have been cancelled.

    One of the most important factoids about "The Bionic Woman" is that Jaime was brought back due to public outcry. When they killed her off at the end of the arc, people started writing in and expressing their outrage. Some schoolteachers even said that their pupils were traumatized by her death. So, they immediately began negotiations with Lindsay Wagner to convince her to return and do her own show.
    Lindsay had a lot of trepidation about it. She loved acting, but ultimately set her sights on becoming a schoolteacher herself. She was concerned about the violence and general cultural decay's effect on kids, and wanted to make a difference. She first turned them down, so the network approached her again and raised her salary offer. She declined again, and they raised it even more. Meanwhile a friend of hers told her, "Think about all the millions of kids you could 'teach' with a show like that." So, she had a meeting with the network execs and said, "Look, instead of throwing more money at me, give me some control over the character." They relented, and she set her ground rules. First of all, Jaime doesn't kill people. She only uses her bionics to protect, and violence as a last resort in self-defense or to accomplish some nonviolent goal. Also, the character has to be smart, funny, kind, and 3-dimensional; no airheaded bimbo to put on a poster. Lastly, Jaime gets to be a schoolteacher in her real life.
    Unlike the "kick ass" heroines in today's superhero films, Jaime Sommers was a true feminist icon. She didn't try to become like a man, or use typically masculine traits like aggression to accomplish her goals. She used compassion, understanding, bonding, and intellect...all things that women are good at.

    One of my favorites. I was a teenager during the run of TBW, and Lindsay Wagner was the reason I watched. She was a hottie!

    Thanks for covering the Bionic Woman. Loved that show. I actually had a crush on Jamie when I was a little kid.

    Jaime's "death" was absolutely devastating, I was sitting on the couch and could not even look at my siblings cause I knew I'd cry my head off! I'm so glad for the tide of outpouring of upset parents that producers were prompted to bring beautiful Jaime back! Loved Jaime's and Steve's bittersweet love story and of her making home for herself in the loft, also the classroom scenes when she had ripped that phonebook in half to settle the brats! Especially, also loved the Fembots and 'Doomsday is Tomorrow' and how Jaime fought the computer brain of Alex, that was some excellent writing and acting! This is a show that had such a humanistic nature, though some episodes much better than others! Another I had really liked was the Lisa Galloway storyline. Even after all these years, from time to time, I always must revisit the show! :)

    I never got around to seeing the series finale four years later after it was aired because I was in the army. But when I did see it that was a great episode because the little girl call her the robot lady which affected her mentally because she was Cyborg that was one of five of my favorite shows

    Cancelling The Bionic Woman was a stupid move by ABC, because it killed both shows. Without Jamie Summers, The Six Million Dollar Man lost its central story arc in season 5, which was the relationship between Steve and Jamie, and it reverted to the show it once was in its first two seasons. The Bionic Woman moving to NBC for its third season meant no more crossovers with The Six Million Dollar Man, and it suffered for the same reason. Without Steve and Jamie, you couldn't have either show.

    Six Million was consistently a bland action series until Bionic Woman came along. Bionic Woman however was wildly uneven in tone and quality. It could be either amazingly good or utterly unwatchable. I was so happy when NBC picked it up, only to discover a bionic dog added to the cast. It was also sad to witness the Jaime character, a tennis pro/school teacher/secret OSI agent, constantly have one rises after another yet never seek counseling or therapy. Ultimately what killed both shows was the exit of showrunner Harve Bennett as a producer over at Universal. He set a tone neither series could recapture after he left.

    I was definitely more a fan of the bionic woman, I found her to be a much better actress over all, and not just cause of some crush, but she was believable, and her shows story lines were much more fun and dynamic. Lot of interesting facts, but unless I missed it, didn't really hear why it was cancelled?

      The Bionic Woman was superior, I think the combination of power and femininity made for a powerful and rare combination in the 70's ... then add the elegant powerhouse of Wagner's performance and we were given one of the best scifi series of the 1970's.

    • @Bob-1802
      @Bob-1802 Před rokem +1

      There was a writer strike at that time that surely didn't help and the plots suffered from that. This probably put a nail in the popularity of the series.
      And the series didn't show any "true" bionics even though they had access to much better special effects that in 70's.

      @@Bob-1802 that was one of the few things that rubbed me the wrong way. And yeah they in a way made the same mistake with Justin's Knight Rider. It was the big government, holier than though attitude. I still admire what Lyndsay and the rest did... The best part was that they told a story and took you with them on an adventure.😁

    I read that Lindsay Wagner has a premonition before boarding a plane and decided not to go. The plane crashed killing everyone on board (Look up American Airlines Flight 191 on 5/25/79). Other articles state that she merely felt ill.

      Yes, I distinctly remember reading about that decades ago. She and her mother were about to board when she had that premonition. Had she refused to board today (and the plane ended up crashing), the FBI would've interrogated her within a couple of hours of the crash. I believe another man, called David Booth (Boothe?), also had 10 nights of nightmares about that flight (or perhaps it was a different flight?) and actually alerted the FAA. They took him seriously but were not able to track down the flight in time due to sketchy details from Booth.
