@@sickthemagHey Tom for your side pipe idea why not cut and flat flange the zoomies under the body so you can separate the lower portion so you can make one straight through to zoomies portion and other to a side pipe that has 2 U slot mounts that slide over a round slotted bushing mounted under body side of car for side pipe to mount for quick and easy slide on & off mounting so you are not removing full header pipes just lower zoomie section/sidepipe for quick changes .
I just had a idea when you were talking about it on the video for the Nomad also totally love the build concept and cant wait to see it come together .

There is a guy that has been racing in the A gas class (7.6) at the nostalgia events at Bakersfield for years. He runs a ‘66-67 Chevy II wagon with a blower motor. The car is called Home Wrecker . It’s a really cool car. You are taking the idea to a whole different level! I do think you need to reconsider the tranny. You are going to need to soften the hit and shifts at lot in a car with that much power. Trying to tune a clutch in that thing will drive you to drink!

Man, I can't wait for this. Eyes started to tear up when I heard all the parts Dennis and Tom were talking about. More so when I heard Nomad.
That bad boy IS "different". That's for for sure!! ....and I LOVE it!! Can't wait to see it all done!
This build reminds me of the things we did in a shop I worked at some years back. The owner started it as a restoration shop but we also did a lot with street rods and customs. One car I really enjoyed was when we got a call from a landscape contractor who was fighting with his neighbors. He told us he had a car that he wanted to do two things. First, he wanted us to make it pull the wheels on the street. Second, he wanted something that would piss off the whole neighborhood. We get there and he takes us to a garage where he shows us what we had to work with,---- a 1964 chevy CORVAIR!! We brought it back to the shop and I started by taking the car completely apart. While I was waiting for the 1 3/4x3 1/4 rectangular tubing I took a plasma cutter and got rid of about 80% of the body's interior sheet metal. About 2 weeks into the build the boss and the customer started brainstorming and came back into my shop to see how the chassis was coming along. Our bender couldn't do the hard way bends in the tubing so I just got the back half tubes back and in the jig and was using my laser squaring tool to layout for tacking. The customer was thrilled to see we had such a precise way of squaring the frame. His first question was, " Can you chop the top 4 inches?" He and the boss also wanted to alter the wheelbase, front wheels forward 4 inches, rears forward 4 1/2. The top was no problem. I just took the rear cowl panel, cut it in half longways, and fit a filler piece to allow the glass channel to fit the back window frame. The wheel opening locations were a little more challenging I took the fenders off and cut out the wheel openings, cut 4 inches out of the front side of the square left when I cut out the wheel openings, and fit a piece behind the gap left from the first cut The piece from the second cut wasn't long enough so I had to make a new one with the English wheel and the panel bag. When I was finished my part of the build ( I built the chassis, mounted the body, designed and built the front and rear suspensions, and did almost all of the metalwork ) and sent the car to our body shop. I had agreed to get paid when I finished the roller and do some other jobs until the driveline went in and would be paid for that also. I brought the car to the body shop and went to the office for a check. I had been working and not getting paid for months so the $20,000 check was gonna be real nice. Instead, I got a sob story, so I packed my tools and told him " I won't come back until I get paid." I would stop by every now and then to see about a check, which always wound up in a yelling match until the time he told me it has been too long and he doesn't owe me anything. His second mistake was pushing me to the door. He wound up on the floor. A few months later he calls me all sorry and says he has some money for me. I'm figuring he will meet me with a bunch of guys to kick my ass so I call some guys to go with me. We get there and he couldn't be nicer. Not only that but the Corvair was sitting there, done with a blown small block, and ready to go. The boss hands me an envelope with cash in it then asks "Do you want to drive it?" I got in and started it up. Took it easy going out onto the highway, went to a side street, and got on it. Rode the wheely bar 1/2 a block then parked to count my money. $2,000?!?!. If I had sued the bastard I could probably park this car at the Sherriffs garage.
I see the meeting with Finnegan had some positive effects. This is gonna be so awesome. I can't wait to see this thing rippin

Blasphemi was a car that they never planned to make fast and is a seriously fast drag car. It's a bit outside of the box but still within the gasser rules. This burned the box, stomped all over it, and pissed on the ashes.

But blasphemi is a true hemi not a hybrid chevyhem but it is a good idea thought

I can barely wait to see those two cars featured in the Revell/Monagram new product lineup. I will make the trip to see them run! I've been building model kit cars that I actually touched since I was 6, from my mom's photos, Jerry Ruth's truck , Dick Shwarts's 64 falcon "Piggy" , PNAP econoline ,,, all from Puyallup Raceway '68-'74,,, I've worked for Ted Gourd at Thunder "Orange Crate" ,,, There's just something about a full tube frame car with power to spare pushing it. I feel 20 years younger just watchin you guys speculate in silence. Keep those guys motivated Taylor.

@@Adamu98 naaa, purists lost their MINDS with the caddy, people were just kinda upset with the hemi in Blasphemi. They realized that car was not an original that he cut up, he built it from the floor up that way.
If you’re following Alex’s car being built, now we know why she kept saying “We can’t show that car yet”.

Dennis has said he doesn't do cameras, after having done some starter videos of my junk its a ton of extra crap to deal with. Lighting, shooting, editing, even a simple one takes time. Time better spent bending metal, welding, and making body parts.

Jonnie Lindberg's car was so awesome to see but it turned out so tragically, it would be awesome to see kind of the whole thing reimagined and I can't wait. Every time Dennis and Alex said don't mind that car on their channel I was like "what is the big deal?" Now I get it and damn! It was a big deal. Can't wait to see Steve Morris's contribution. Just watched a video about the SMX water jacketed hemi and it's an awesome platform
I race a historic Model A that was a A/ altered in the 1960.s. This car is going to be truly sick. Thinking out of the box to a extreme, I love it. Big fan here, Thanks for all you do Tom, and Dennis.
Tom, when I first saw you on Garrett's channel I thought to myself this is one of them old school boys that don't have any business in 2020 because they can't bring their thought process forward in time. Not only do I now understand you are fully capable of coming forward in time, you are thinking outside of the box and challenging the norms. I hope you like a fire under old school and burn it to the ground with The nitro that's still on fire coming out of the exhaust. Force them forward Tom.
This calls for a new class, 'ModGas', don't hold your breathe on any NHRA decisions.

Well, you knew these two together were gonna be trouble looking for a place. Who cares what class it fits into. It looks like fun! I'll see it run in person, just gotta remember not to forget the earplugs. If you run out of room, or you want the beer colder than 90 degrees, I'll try to sneak a mini-keg through the pit gates in a suitcase. Just don't mind the ice water dripping out of the seams.

Did you see Tom's videos on fire safety? Really informative. He definitely knows what he's doing (and who to ask when he doesn't) in the fire safety department.
@@trumbley22 yeah and he said that he leaves the pin in it and doesn't even want to use it because it's too big of a mess to clean up.. You can't have that mentality with nitro. And nitro fires/explosions are FAR more common, even at low percentages because it's so explosive.

For the rear windows, maybe you could put hinges on the front with a minivan style latch in the rear with a quick pin that allows you to swing the whole window out. Then you'd also be able to just vent the windows while driving down the road.
I've been waiting for the break down on this car every since I seen it in the background of on of Alex's videos! It is going to be one badass ride, I can't wait to see it go!!!

Can't wait to see how the firewall / windshield is designed with the motor set back. And we all know there will not be a gap / hole to be found to keep the fire out.
For the rear windows, what about something like the doors on the luggage compartments on a Greyhound bus? They open straight up staying parallel to the side of the vehicle.

I got an old fart story for you... It was the early '80's, I was ~30, and partners in a shop doing repairs, auto body & glass, and a parts store. We also had a industrial sandblasting and painting company. We had employees doing most of the work, and my partner and I had all the tools to build street rods and do antique auto restos.
I'd just sold an unfinished '35 Chev 3 window to a kid for WAY too much money, after it was in a local parade, (being towed by our Model A shop PIckup). I was counting the money a couple hours after the parade; we were a few beers in, when a friend said, what ya gonna build, next?
I've always wanted a '55 w- a BBC & manual trans; a wheel standing, frame twister. Someone said they had a cherry 2 door post they'd give me, and it was off to the races.
A couple hours later, I had decided to build a '57 era Funny Car. Alston rails and tube, turn the sedan into a altered roadster look, with a hemi. In a month, I had a huge Olds rear from a Vette gasser and a cast iron, Hilborn injected, 392 Hemi with an Isky roller, a Magneto from an alcohol funny car; (their back up motor). It was the first year of the Camaro semi-McPherson front struts, and staying with '57 era' theme, I bought some from Koni and turned them into coil overs for for the front.
A couple months down the road, and I had cut the body into skins, and got a glass front and trunk lid. I was learning about Hemi's and had met a boat based 392 guru about 45 miles away. He started asking me about the cam, and I got a blank look on my face. I told him it was an Isky 123XYZ, so he said call Isky and find out.
I called Isky Cam a few days later, and here's what I heard: "Yeah, this is Ed... what can I do for ya."
It still is a chill up the spine experience/memory... We talked for at least a half hour, with me writing as fast as I could.
"Yeah, this is Ed."
Give it hell, Tom... you're living life.

Talking about trying to figure something out for the zoomies.... do springed slip fit collector that slides over the zoomies and into the side pipe. So that you only have to pop some springs and slide the pipe off. Works well for us sport bike guys for our exhaust systems, should work fine for your street exhaust and make it quick to change over.
