The highway has since been left to ruin in many parts, but those dedicated enough can still travel its length to experience the combination of retro cool, faded Americana and quirky characters who occupy its miles from Chicago to Los Angeles.
Sick The Magazine's Tom Bailey wanted to experience Route 66 for himself, and what better way than in a '62 Chevy Nova Gasser that he'd just bought? In this feature length presentation, follow along with Tom as he drives Route 66 from Albuquerque, NM to Springfield, MO in the most engaging and horsepower-filled way as possible.

Tom is spot on. When the interstates came through it put a hurting on these small towns and businesses. We just finished a 8,000 mile cross country road trip over the last six months and we chose to take all State Roads to see the small towns and what they had to offer. It was sad seeing those towns fading away. Thank you Tom & Luke.

The wife has a vacation coming up. I am trying to talk her into cruising a stretch. We live in OKC, it isn't like we have to go far to get there.
I sit beside myself knowing things we had growing up is now considered antique.
It is actual factual. Drag and drive makes for a fun event when you don’t have many thousands to blow. I know the cars a brought were 20-something thousand dollar cars that were nowhere near race cars. Just your average weekend fun cars.

That's my dad's car! Thanks for the video, good for the memories. The incessant cabin noise, the blower whine, the locker clicking away in parking lots, the janky shifter and switch pitch converter... That car has done its job and I love it.

Having gown up on Rte 66 in small town Ok with a long history before and after the highway came and went. I still love to run the old road every few years. I know parts that are not accessible from the current road. The town still thrives today.

I grew up in Rialto, CA, and Route 66 went through town. One of the cool stops was the TeePee motel.
