Wow. It was an honor to be in Chamonix to witness Jim Walmsley become the first American man to win the UTMB. What a special moment for the 20th edition of this iconic race. We talk to Jim about

What an absolute legend! It’s so honourable of Jim to acknowledge his wife’s sacrifical support.
Also, Jim and Zach’s bromance and respect towards each other is the coolest thing ever.
As usual, great interview Dylan. Freetrail has done a phenomenal job this past week in capturing the best bts and most organic chats with some of the best people in our community. Thank you!

Thank you so much!!
Jim is such a humble and kind human. But when he had to drop the hammer he did with a level of athleticism that is unrivaled. But Zach and Germain were incredible as well. What an incredible race and finishers on the podium.
I am a big fan of Kilian but Jim as well as Zach are amazing athletes and great guys overall. I've been very happy seeing Jim winning this UTMB, he deserved it, he has been grinding hard these last few years. Congrats Jim!
Hard to not be a fan of any of them really!
Yeah, I mean he moved to France just to train for UTMB for Pete sake
Such a buzz seeing Jim finally win! So happy for him, and Jess!
I was so sad when last year he just didn't make it to the podium after leading for such a while. This year he revenged himself! What a hero. I enjoyed the race very much.
What a "giggle" you have placed in my life! Mr brother, was also a runner, and years ago said you were so advanced, that you would explode beyond recovery, but.....What a supporter Jesse has been ..Great!
Was cheering out there for Jim and am so happy he did it. Huge congrats to Jim for this great accomplishment! I feel like many French think alike and were genuinely hoping very hard it would happen. Thanks Dybo for the interview!
Thanks for watching!!
We are all Scott Jurek. Massive sigh of relief. Congratulations Jim!!
So glad to have witnessed Jim win this year! I dragged my tired post-CCC a** to the city center to watch Jim take the win, and he was welcomed with SUCH joy by the crowds...I'll definitely cherish this memory!
I was rooting for Zach but i couldn't be happier with the way the men's and women's races went. Thank you very much DBo and Corrine for all the content and commentary
Such a historical win! Congrats Jim!
❤
It’s never over til it’s over!!! I was riveted to the feed!!! And then that hug with Zach @the finish!!! (I’m not crying. you’re crying). So emotional!!! Loved it all…now I can breathe
What an effort Jim! Black Canyon is calling your name
Well done Jim. I want to give you a big hug man. Huge congratulations man! Great interview,
Thanks!
Brilliant interview DBo. So pleased for Jim. Thanks for all the brilliant interviews and content this week
Good interview. I would encourage DBo to add quick mentions of how far through the race each of the aid stations you mention are--especially the first time you mention it. It would help listeners who haven't run the race (the vast majority of us, I assume) understand the competitive aspect of the race much better.
Good point, will try to do this better in the future!
So so happy for Jim and Jess, what an inspiration! Dylan, thanks for the interview, very high quality.
Excellent interview with insightful questions from an experienced runner perspective. Great work.
I enjoyed this as I enjoyed the UTMB race coverage. Congrats from Germany! Well deserved.
So great to see such a quality human achieve this level of success.
Such fantastic post-race interviews. We have loved the coverage all week, Freetrail!
The race strategy and mental winning are awesome. Congrats Jim.
So stoked for Jim to win it finally after all the attempts and blowing up and after all the sacrifice moving even to a different country! Great year for USA overseas! Not gonna lie it was quite annoying seeing a couple of haters on the main live feed constantly saying that he had DNF or that he would .. the win was a perfect cherry on top!
Thanks Mr. Bowman. Great interview! Congrats to Jim.
I’ve been following Jim for the past 7 years and it’s pretty interesting to hear him interviewed now compared to the early days. I can certainly forgive the cockiness of young Jim, the way he conducts himself now he’s a brilliant ambassador for the sport and comes across as a very special human. Happy for him!
Couldn't like this video fast enough! Huge congrats to Jim, such a great race and battle with Zach & Serge🤯 🙌
Congrats to this big dude Jim, super simple humble and down to earth guy. Threw up an amazing and very inspiring performance. It's really really a joy to have witnessed the whole thing and run through the emotions. WS up next!
Well done man! Great race, brilliant interview! Pure inspiration!
Jim is such a sweetheart❤❤❤
So stoked for this guy and his journey. Legend!
Well done Jim!! The absolute goat 🐐
Dude he did it!!! Congrats man wow
He did it!
Great interview! Jim's honest takes on the whole experience were so refreshing to hear. Good job DBo!
Congrats to Jim! Appreciate the interview DBo!
Thanks for watching!
What an awesome post race interview of both zach and jim. Huge kudos to Dbo. Perfect work.
So happy for Jim
❤
Not wrong turns this time😂 GO JIM!
NO WRONG TURNS
Hardrock! Hardrock! Hardrock. Come on Jim.
Great interview. Thank you! Go Jim
Great to see another Frenchman take the win! Jim is definitely now more French than he is American. He will be a French citizen in 3 years.
He’s got the accent at times.
Legend.
Awesome..congrats Jim! Love the part about Jurek...epic exchange there.
Way to go Champ!
Another awesome interview. Love it. Any chance you could give the mileage when speaking of various aid stations? That would really help us visualize the race. I’m a big fan and maybe it’s just me, but I have close to zero idea of the location each aid station. Of course I could totally be an outlier.
Zach in my eyes is the Steve Prefontaine of Ultras
Next stop: TOR330
Surprised anything is 'more affordable' in France.. GW JW🏆
Jim gonna crush the WSER record again...
What hokas are those in the background?
Where can I get that FreeTrail shirt?
Hoka is coming back in a very strong way
How about that 1st Time American Male! :)
🏳️🌈 Jim ❤️ Zack 🏳️🌈
Not a fan of the interviewer interrupting Jim so often here. A lot of times it seemed like he had something interesting to say but needed more time to vocalise it in the right way, only to be cut off before having the chance to say it.
Congrats to Jim! Please when he's talking let him talk. With all due respect, interrupting him to tell us what you thought he was doing is less interesting than what he is or may tell us. But thank you for the interview. Go Jim!
Please don’t watch our videos, thanks!
He looks just as rough as i feel 😅
