Even mentioning the Seminole mascot as being potentially offensive is absurd. I don't know how many times this must be addressed. Not all Native American mascots are created equal. And the Seminoles have been doing it right from the beginning. A quick search on the history of their mascot will show that its a non issue.
They made Florida stop doing the GatorBait Chant because someone on twitter found an antique racist Jim crow sign from Louisiana...So it won't be long before they change fsu mascot... I myself find the Glitterboyz the most offensive thing about fsu
@lonesomeknoteye the Seminole tribe gives their endorsement to the school to use their name and do the theatrics. They'll keep trying to change them but I think FSU might have a little more ground to stand on than other mascots that have gone by the wayside.
Exactly. I'll save the Google search. They are allowed to be the Seminoles because the actual Seminole tribe has given their blessing for FSU to use the name. And speaking of the mascot, the person who potrays Chief Osecola has to be a member of the Smeinole tribe. And in terms of what he wears on the horse, that's supposedly what Seminoles wore when they went into battle. So in way, they aren't being offensive to the Smeinole tribe, they are honoring them.

Saying FSU's use of the the Seminole as a symbol of the university is in some way controversial or wrong just screams "poor journalism" Anyone that spends 0.03 seconds looking into the topic will realize that the university does it correctly, with solemn respect, and with the full and literal blessing of the Unconquered Seminole Tribe of Florida. They literally have to approve everything the university does and FSU adheres to their wishes 100% What a dimwitted disclaimer.
Maybe do your homework on whether the Seminole tribe dislikes FSU using the logo/name. This shabby reporting is unfortunately commonplace now for ESPN.

Have museums about it and inform people of the bad things that happened and show why it was bad.
