- The Florida Gators faced the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2008 SEC Championship game. With both rosters full of future NFL stars this game did not disappoint. Led by QB Tim Tebow, the Gators were able to come out on top of the Tide. Tebow threw a touchdown pass to Riley Cooper late in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Tim Tebow finished the game going 14-22 for 216 yards and three touchdowns. In addition he had 17 carries for 57 yards.

The tebow years were my favorite years in college football. It brings back great memories of the old SEC
@Rowdy Jr. really? There are so many greats in the SEC and you think about sorry ass Sarah Fuller at sorry ass Vanderbilt? Lmao we don’t claim Vanderbilt in the SEC😂
It was peak SEC dominance. When people said SEC defense it really meant something. In my opinion it accelerated everyone to move to the spread attack. It didn’t matter that you could grind other ACC Big 10 or PAC 10 teams into submission, eventually you were going to come up against an SEC defense that would just mercilessly bust you up
Man I remember watching these games and the gators basketball play off runs at the same time with my best friends best times ever!
@Rowdy Jr. isn’t Vanderbilt a charter member. The sec football became the powerhouse by the media after LSU dismantled Ohio state. Older fans knew the sec was the stay at home conference
The SEC is still as good or better. Everyone is just a Dawg now so not many players are dominant anymore and Clemson snags more of the better recruits in the area now. They should be SEC tho. Everyone forgot about Tebow when Cam, Manzeil, and Burrow were doing their thing.
So many NFL-Greats-To-Be on this field. It's unbelievable.
Aaron Hernandez really killed it out there too.
Damnnn man lmao
💀💀
True.
Lame
Was that supposed to be funny?
I have seen a lot of Tebow highlights, but I forgot how fun to watch Julio was in college too
Roddy white drove me crazy with all his dropped passes but unlike Julio he played and was rarely out and finished his career here because he’s not a piece of shit holding out with 3 years left on a contract. Fuck you Julio!!
Before any Julio fans pull their panties out of their crotch what I’m saying is the truth it is what it is. Oh and roddy is still the best receiver the falcons ever had. Look it up.
@@garydobbs5159 I’m not a Julio fanboy but Julio has better stats and played a year less than roddy except for roddy having 3 less tds. And he broke roddys falcons reception record Idk what you tryna say other than if you’re a salty falcons fan I get it

The amount of nfl talent on the field in a college game on both teams is absolutely unreal. Not to mention a gold medalist to boot in track and field, Jeffrey Demps.
Also, this Florida team may go down as one of if not the fastest teams in college history. Don’t think we’ve seen this much speed at so many positions before
Chip Kelley's Oregon team was quick as shit.
And they had a future felon murderer too! Good timez

But got whooped in 2009
the 2001 Miami Hurricanes are the only team I have witnessed with unmatched NFL talent, but this UF team along with 2019 LSU are the closest.
Nostalgic as hell. One the most exciting players to watch in college football history. Tebow was a beast.
Aaron Hernandez can’t believe there was a time where he was playing
@Darkstrider24 yeah. Also he & Gronk was a formidable duo for the Patriots as well.
Well, you arent a murderer until you murder people. A troubled and great football player

This is too soon.
Why can’t you believe that? He was literally in college before he went to the NFL and did bad things….”can’t believe there was a time” lol?? Wtf lol
The rosters on both of these teams is insane.
Watching Julio Jones playing against the Florida Gators back then and now Julio Jones is a wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just shows you to enjoy the journey of this thing we call life.
Team Tebow will go down as the greatest leader of a football team in history. This man willed his way to victory leading from the front. True gladiator
Love him or hate him…Tebow is one of the most dominant college football players ever. His college stats put him in the conversation for best college player ever too.
The NFL is a different beast. its a tough league, but yeah he had a great run with Florida 👏
@@jraybay agreed. I think he could have been
In the league much longer if he would’ve played a different position. Maybe even a hybrid QB position like Taysom Hill but he just doesn’t have the skills to be a starting QB in the NFL. Not to mention it’s been 11-12 years since his rookie season…
And then there was Cam Newton. Who was so much better than Tebow.
@@bobsmith6857 Then why was he playing backup for Tebow?
@@OmgItsZakkE because urban Meyer and dan mullen are stupid and racist.
They won without Percy Harvin which was amazing.
Same thing I said Percy probably wouldn’t made it fair
And 2 other playmakers also they were standing with him
Anybody with Percy Harvin on their team needs to learn to win without him. Has he EVER played a complete season?
Percy. My favorite Gator of ALL TIME.
Yea it was but as good as tebow was he had an awsome core of receivers
What made Tebow great was his knack for perfect TIMING! He knew exactly what to do at the exact right moment. That’s what made him great.
Great college player.
Not so much in the NFL.
Elway lied to him and then Rex Ryan purposely ruined his career because of that Thursday night game in Denver.
I suppose his 47% accuracy rate had nothing to do with him being cut so many times.
@@kwamestamps35 plenty of nfl quarterbacks have been at or lower. You would have to go back aways. He was a 50/50 guy. Half of the time he would run. I always liked the option offense and some teams in the nfl would use it from time to time. Makes the game exciting. Old school football.
@Mr X you lost me when you said Gase was a better coach then Ryan. Total nonsense.
There was so much talent in this game alone. Crazy how good Julio was in college I really didn’t hear about him until this game. Great game and I just love how Bama flew to Tebow when he ran, but the contact Tebow brought.
He was a true freshman, but this was his real showcase game for the ‘08 season.
Julio was a big time #1 national recruit out of high School. 😂
Back then when Florida was a dangerous team. They had a great year in 2008.
All I can think about watching this video is how Florida was so dominate at the time and yet haven’t done anything since because of the man on the other sideline.
@Rowdy Jr. Florida went 13-1 and won the National Championship over Oklahoma. After this game, Alabama was upset by Utah (who was in the Mountain West at the time) in the Sugar Bowl.

Both of these teams were so stacked, and man Tebow made some phenomenal plays. This was peak football, new age talent that was still allowed to play the old school way.

As a LSU fan 2008 vs UF was one of my favorite of all time, but I hated UF and playing UF during the Tebow years. Dude was like the Tom Brady of college football. UF was a beast every year. Staunch defense and wide open offense with tons of athletes.
Unlike Bama who relied on a game manager, one star WR and a 1-2 big backs carrying the run game, UF was versatile AF. Tebow was pretty much a QB and fullback and Rainey and Demps were small speedsters that were great complements to a power runner like Tebow. Cooper, Murphy, and Hernandez was a trio of future NFL starters, and Percy Harvin was the X factor that you put all over the offense.
Julio a 1 star🤣 shows your knowledge
@@Toast2222 Not taking sides, but I'm pretty sure the OP meant to say that Alabama has one (lone, single, unitary) star receiver, not their rating.
@@MrWzeljunior That's not what he meant. He hates Bama and is probably one that still feels like Bama stole his coach although he was the head coach of Miami. I live in Louisiana and I hear it all the time
Three Florida head coaches in this game: Meyer, Alabama OC Jim McElwain, and Florida OC Dan Mullen.
