Lately I've been trying out new stuff, both in content and style, doing vids not only on history, like Israel's, but a game, Morrowind, and now a TV show/Book series, GOT. These were vids i wanted to make for sooooo damn long, but couldn't because of the restrictions of the previous way I did things. I'm giving non-historical topics a chance, since there's so much more freedom with shitposting you can get away with on them on CZcams.

Not sure if they didn't notice it or just chose to willfully ignore it. They stated they wanted to make GoT appeal to soccer moms and NFL players. But they are definitely hacks.
From the beginning they cast aside anything to do with magic, wanting nothing to do with it and as mentioned, to try to appeal to mass audiences.
My take is that they just didn't't want to deal with the extra complexity it brings, given their episode by episode of the last season reveal how little they understand of what they themselves are writing, much less of what they overall books have.
Most of that Lovecraftian stuff starts to appear more in the later stuff. Like an early released chapter of Winds of Winter is when we see that Euron isn’t just a psycho larping as a sorcerer king, but might actually be a real, existential villain.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes is easily the anime that best handles a dynastic, long-spanning war of military tactics and political intrigue (as well as simply being the best anime, period). Only issue with doing it would be the detail necessary in keeping Reuenthal's eyes consistent.
Outside of anime, the Three Kingdoms era of China also has enough complexity and major figures to be worth a video series of its own.
