    It's 2022. I bought new a 1987 G100 Charade as my first new car at age 29.
    I still drive it. 280,000 km on the clock. I replaced the radiator, clutch, exhaust about 20 years ago, and it's had a new brake kit every decade.
    What can I say.. indestructible? No. Durable beyond belief, oh yes. And fun to drive.

    It was introduced to the usa in 1989 i think . They failed to sell many cars but a famous car magazine said its the Mercedes benz of small cars highlighting its structural rigidity and build quality.

      I bought a left over 88 in 89 over here in California and drove it for 17 years and it was virtually flawless.Sold it to buy a 2004 new Mini Cooper.( I had nowhere to keep the Charade )I am on my second Mini now a 2012 and I love these cars but they are not as reliable as the Daihatsu and expensive to fix! The Charade sold poorly in the U S A and did not stay too long

    WOW!! My husband has Daihatsu Charade (1994 or something about that). It's IDENTICAL!! We have identical car. Black, with the same stickers. The same. I can't believe. I was thinking our car is unique:DDD Charade is really incredible car:D Little "something" with huge potential;)

    My mom's first car is a Daihatsu Charade. I am proud that such tiny little hatchbacks are very durable and reliable. Pity that she sold it for a Hyundai Accent.

    I am a 1986 Charade Blanche owner from Pakistan. This car is still loved in Karachi. The 1982, 84,1986 and 88. There are so many cars of these models especially 84 and 86 that 1 out of 10 cars is a charade here. I would like to know which other countries it is still running in? Also in what proportion? I read somewhere that it was a big flop in the US.

    I bought a 1989 Daihatsu Charade right out of the dealer. I was 20 years old and financed the damn thing at 20% interest (bankers like to screw over kids just starting out) It replaced my 1980 Datsun 310 Hatchback. The Charade was an awesome car. I regret selling it.

  • @powerfultoa7
    @powerfultoa7 Před 13 lety

    @princepersia1 Of course it's irrelevant, as I didn't suggest a "dream car" in the first place. Point is, you don't appreciate a car if it's working or not (my main point), as it seems to me a car by your definiton needs to be expensive or desirable. Nothing wrong to dream a nice car, but if the dude's ride works like a charm and the only thing he uses it is for transport, then what's the point of having an even expensive car to do the same thing?

  • @princepersia1
    @princepersia1 Před 13 lety

    PoS? You call the E55 a PoS? Sure it's not a Lamborghini or super expensive but it's better than a Charade. Give it back to my dad? What do you mean "back"? I'm not giving anything "back" to anyone because nothing that I have isn't mine. The point I was making is car's are cheap, even 5k can get you a decent car, why get that piece of shit? There's NO excuse, it's not about the money, it's about the car itself.
