My favorite part about this scene is that he loves their passion, he just wants them to use it the right way. All of our qualities can honor God, but leave it to our fallen nature to dishonor Him 😶
His words are showing us We are All need to act the way Jesus even when angry is the way we want to react . Instead breathe take a moment in the heat of what it is going on ask for Gods Jesus Wisdom
John really came a long way and matured a lot by the time he was writing his Gospels for the Kingdom... Jesus acknowledges him with thunder and lightning, which is why he smiled looking out the window... That was my takeaway.

I love how in Mark 3:17 Jesus named them" sons of thunder", But as You keep reading you don't know why he called them that, then this scene happens in Luke 9:51-56 and it all conects. I love it.
Ohhhh 😮😮😮😮😮this is so right. So mindblown🤯 God is so awesome how He shows the connections (aside from the fact that at the moments prior to me watching this video, I was really struggling with what is similar to James & John's feelings. I think these boys were named Sons of Thunder after their father, Zebedee, whose reaction to his sons ditching the family fishing business was so epic it became legend. They lived up to this nickname because they inherited their temper from dad.
Has anyone thought it could also be that when people used to say God spoke it sounded like thunder? So essentially he was calling them children of God? Sons of God just with metaphors like his parables

A prophet gets drunk and gets naked?!
A prophet and curses his grandson who is not guilty?! And makes him a slave to his uncles for a crime he did not commit??
It is not our responsibility to repay a wrong, only to ask for God's strength and grace to allow us to forgive and continue to carry out His will for us.

One of my favourite scenes because the way Jesus tells them off like a loving Father would discipline his kids.
They were like a storm on the sea, yet God used them for great things. The passion in their hearts just needed aimed in the right direction. God's forgiveness, mercy, patience, and loving kindness all displayed so beautifully in this scene.

I am extremely happy with my faith in Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and my relationship with Him. I will not argue religion with anyone. I appreciate that you think I may need help, but I assure you I have all of the help I need in Christ and Christ alone. I will pray for you to find as much love, joy, peace, hope, and faith as I have found in my 34 year relationship with Christ serving my Heavenly Father. Yup, in older movies and series about Jesus, they always view "John" as s faithful only. His flaw characteristics as like being hot tempered and has racist tendencies and sometimes lack humility or even humbleness (he thinks he's among the best or even most loved by Jesus) . It's actually nice.
How quickly we forget the teachings of Jesus and let our emotions take over. Oh, to have Him physically there beside us to hold us back. I love when Jesus says, "you would have used the power of God to bring down fire on them all because you don't like them?" We are no better then they if we return hate for hate.
Boy can I relate to James and John. I'm a hothead and it's a very difficult thing to change about myself. My grandmother used to tell me as a child that patience is a virtue and watching this scene drives that point home even harder. Jesus would probably call me the "Daughter of Doom!" ;-)

I just love the scenes in which Jesus goes from seriously wise to condescendingly sarcastic within seconds.
I think we've all felt like John and James... and, I feel fairly certain that we've acted like the Samaritan's who threw those rocks at them too. I forget all too often to be humble when I'm walking with Jesus. When I I get angry at someone else and I begin to resent them, I tend to overlook the fact that we all belong to Jesus, and there are no favorites in His flock. He cares for us all equally, and all are welcome to join Him, regardless of what they've done.
Jesus, the savior, has the focus & the skill to continuously redirect conversations back to the priorities of Righteousness & salvation from sins & corrections of priority errors. Jesus is awesome. Each of us should have faith in him & imitate him. Each of us should continuously redirect our conversations with other people back onto Jesus. That is why we exist! ✝📖👑

The lord states “let vengeance be mine” it not our responsibility for revenge and if those that wrong us do not repent and ask God to forgive them, they will get divine justice on them. Don’t hold onto revenge, just take comfort knowing God sees it all and is writing it down.
I love how Jesus reprimanded the brother's just like any concerned parent would have done. But he also talked to them and directed the boys to stir their passions in a correct way...to be leaders and to use humility at the forefront. I love when Jesus said that you're no better than anyone else. It's true. If we all thought in this way. in the kingdom of God, there is no room for pride ...only humble and willing people who would be teachable.
I can watch both seasons over and over and over again and never get tired nor find the word of God to help me with whatever is going on in my life at that time. Without fail. God is clearly all over this project. Love you guys at The Chosen….BTS and on-screen xoxo
He already knew no amount of insult will overshadow his glory, even at the Cross for he knew that FATHER is faithful and will raise him from dead. Lord Jesus I pray to you that we learn to be as obedient as we could and follow your word with all the faith, loving and forgiving each other.Amen.

One of my favorite scenes in the show. Absolutely love Jesus’s reaction to when John looks rather sheepishly and says well it sounds pretty bad when you say it that way and Jesus laughs. It suggests that there are times when we can make God laugh. One time, when I was alone, it occurred to me that I wonder if anybody has told jokes to God before. It’s interesting to think about the fact that God is all knowing and yet we mortals still have free will. This makes me wonder if they’re actually are times when we say things that God doesn’t expect. Is anyone else aware of places in the Bible where it was clear that someone said something to God that he was surprised, particularly, anything that made him laugh?

Not that necessarily made Him laugh, but He was surprised by the faith of a roman centurion once. It's in Matthew 8:5-13
I recon we do make him laugh. Come to think about it isn’t there a scripture in the bible that says angels are entertained by children? I Might be off there a bit . If He blessed us with humour why wouldn’t he possess the same quality ? And on surprises can you imagine God taking the Jews out of bondage in Egypt opening up the sea for them feeding them etc only to watch them build a stupid calf out of gold and have them bow down to it. I don’t think God saw that comming.
I mean God already knows our entire life from beginning to end, so nothing can surprise Him it's impossible to surprise God. Doesn't mean He can't joke around. While Jesus is God at the same time He is man, He has to eat, sleep, use the bathroom. So in His human nature He found them funny, in His divine nature He already knew what they were going to say. Idk it's hard to comprehend.
When I like so much about this show is the humanity that Jonathan Roumie brings to the character of Jesus. Think about it. Here is Jesus, Creator of heaven and earth, God in the flesh, chastising James and John, then after He makes His point, can only chuckle at there genuine regret and innocence. How easily Jesus forgives.
When god decided he wasn't going to flood the earth anymore, I think he learned from seeing Noahs grace and his spirit and was pleased and in that moment he learned from the beauty of his own creation
I love how this is portrayed. Thankful for the Godly creativity of the writers, producers, actors and all the staff of The Chosen. They do the work, but God gets all the glory!👏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻❤️
I remember as a young boy hearing thunder and being afraid. And my father would say "St. John and St. James are playing football up in heaven"(ye, all big football fans in the family). Didn't quite understand the meaning of it then. :)

Yes the Samaritans believed based on what the woman at the well told them, without seeing any miracles. Plus Jesus was invited to teach in their synogoque. WOW!!! He had to correct them. That shows us today that we cannot always react to bad experiences and miss out on what God has for you.

I just realized out of all the 12, only John got to die of old age. This is gonna be heartbreaking
and John was the only male disciple at the foot of the cross. remember they also tried to kill him too but he survived so he could write revelation in his old age.
Yes....all of the students died horrible death except John...but they welcome it...they knew it....they accept it.
I can't help but wonder how the Heck they're gonna pull off the resurrection and thereafter. They're gonna need the Holy Spirit for that crazy business

This hits home it's like Jesus is calling me out and telling me that...there are people I dislike or hate to the core same reasons as the sons of thunder (they're rude, mean, someone I see that can't be trusted) and when Jesus said "you're so much better? You're not" it hits me so much I got silent and reflected about my life...
I hear "I said quiet!" from God at least 5x's a week when I'm tempted to run my mouth or "clapback", so it's nice to see/hear it on screen. 😂😂😂

I love how "Jesus" was holding back laughter when James and John talked about sending fire down from Heaven to burn up the Samaritans. He scolds them then After he is done scolding them then he laughs. Can you imagine how many times we amuse God with our little temper tantrums. Not because He thinks our sin is funny but because We're like small children so quick to react when something doesn't go our way. God sees us as little children. That's exactly what we are little children who need constant redirection and that's exactly what our Father does. He scolds us because He loves us and wants us to be able to go home and spend eternity with Him
That was so awesome. Cried all the way through it. Went to the Christmas Special in the theater last night - brought 3 guests! It was AMAZING!

Avery good scene. What struck me the very first time I saw it was the words Jesus said - We are no better, we are all the same. Everyone one of us needs him.
The Son of God… wish he was still here with us in the flesh… but, it is even better in the Spirit because that doesn’t ever die as long as we accept it faithfully!
Also present in the Eucharist in every tabernacle around the world. His promise in John chapter 6.
I see him everyday in the eyes of his believers and in their hands as they do his work. This really helped me today. I want to be a better disciple. A better follower of Jesus Christ. I fall short a lot. So inspiring. I think I have watched it 8 times,and it means more each time. Amazing

You know, in so many passages in the Bible, Christ can come across as distant and almost not human (though, of course He was thoroughly human and thoroughly God). But this depiction of Him ... laughing, putting His arms around His friends, etc. ... is just so great. It really gives you the feeling of why people were so attracted to Him.
This is a brilliant scene + lesson for followers of Christ not to react to provocation from those who mock Jesus! We need to spread the word of God as Acts says. And in a humble way! Amen. 🙏🕆❤
Love and compassion towards our brothers and sisters in the faith and towards all those we meet brings honour and glory to God and his Son, and it would be hoped that as our light shines it would bring those lost in the darkness to brighter future of a promised paradise.

I love how they portrayed John as a bit entitled with his relationship with Jesus, there's a few evidence in the Book of John where the author stated that he was the disciple whom Jesus loved also the scene with Mary saying "he loved all of you, you just have the need to say it more often" is a great reference as well.

Jesus did not say, "I am God." There is not a single text in the Bible. Jesus says, "I am God." He said more than thirty times that he is a prophet and messenger. He said he's human more than 82 times. This is what the Qur'an says that Jesus is the Messenger of God.
This aligns with the mission of Jesus, as taught in Islam, where Jesus was sent to the Children of Israel to confirm the message of the past Prophets - to believe in the One True God.

It is free from geographical, racist, and status oriented concepts. It is Perfect and it is the complete way of life. All these qualities are chosen by Allah in His Only Religion: Islam. Its details are in in the Qur’an, read it and come with an open heart because none can expose better than the World of Allah. The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. He did not author it. He was unlettered. Its translation is available in many languages in bookstores or in an Islamic Center close to you. Take the time to read it and come/call the Islamic Center, or speak to someone who re-verted and submitted to Allah Alone.

This is just a small part of all the verses that claim Jesus is God. Lets not even talk about more then 5000 manuscripts that claim the same. If you don`t understand what Trinity is that is another thing but don`t share islam before critically aproaching it with same criticism as Christianity. Christianity says that Jesus died in unimaginable suffering and on the cross. Look up through Roman history how that looked like, it was so painful that we had to make a new word for that level of pain "excruciating". Bible says that Jesus rose from death. While Bible tells this, qur`an tells a story about how Jesus didn`t die on a cross but it just appeared as such, and if He didn`t die how can He rise from dead right? Now when we look at these 2 stories we are split cause how can we know which is true one, so we looked through hystorical evidence. Search and you will see that there are a lot of atheists, agnostics, and even muslims that after looking through manuscripts claim Jesus died on the cross. That isn`t even a question anymore which is first spot where islam is seen as a one big lie ( i am sorry if this sounded rude, i know how much islam means to you but please just try to look neutrally in both and you will see the truth). Then after those letters and evidences that Jesus died on the cross even the letter of Pontius Pilate to Tiberius which says about how hard Pilate tried to save Jesus from the death but he couldn`t. Then we have the letters which claim that He rose from the dead. While that is the case for the Lord, for Muhammed is different story. History claims that he was rapist, murderer, psychopath, and a lot more. He forced his idea to kill all Christians and Jews. First writing of Muhammed were found around 150 years after his death and they were lost, and the guy that wrote it rewriten it but rejected 80% of it because it was unbelievable in a sense that he knew it was a lie. Then there is famous argument about how can we say that Bible is true today when it has went through all those translations. Well we have so much polylingual people today. I believe that you speak at least 2 languages too. So when you translate from one to another is that a bad translation? And keep in mind that this whole process is controlled by Holy Spirit... My advice is that you pray to God to reveal Himself to you but really believe that He will and then seek and you shall find.

You get those messages out of context and confuse people with it. First read the whole Bible try to understand everything as one story and not partially and then attack with a verse that you yourself don't understand.
