  • In high school weight rooms across the country, summer training is well underway. Here in Ohio, that includes Massillon Washington High School, where players recently returned to find a training facility now fully revamped with the best in American-made Rogue strength and conditioning equipment.
The Massillon Tigers have a legendary sports history in these parts-24 state championships in football alone-so their expectations for a custom outfitting job were high. Fortunately, that’s how we prefer it.

Looks like very nice equipment… My high school wrestling program was lucky to have a matt that was only 15ish years old #SameEducation

It's possible they have a fund set up by Paul Brown and that was used to pay for the huge outdoor and indoor stadium and weight room.

The following is from The Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone, MN, who is cleaning up the tragic mess left year after year by Massillon High School. These particular victims of Massillon HS are lucky - the other tigers used and abandoned by Massillon have since disappeared, fate unknown...
"For decades, Massillon, Ohio’s Washington High School was famous for acquiring a new tiger cub (known as “Obie”) every year.
The cub was dragged out in a cage on the field, traveled with the team, gawked over by fans.
The school would get the cubs at the beginning of the school year and use them just for that one football season. The next year, they’d acquire another one.
This one high school was responsible for fueling the breeding, cruel and exploitative cycle of so many cubs being taken from their mothers and disposed of when they were no longer a draw."

They might be ranked 460th in education in the state of Ohio, but daggum they gots #1 football weight room. This is laughable.

Do you think the socioeconomic status might have something to do with that ranking Bob? The top ranked school districts all seem to be wealthy suburban schools why is that Bobby? Maybe school rankings are a bad barometer of the quality of education that can be achieved at Massillon or a school district like Hudson.

All massillon cares about is football it's sad. I've lived here for 8 years now. Like what about a skatepark or sf fixing all the potholes

@@josephcordell3102 tried a skate park. The skaters destroyed it. The potholes have nothing to do the school.

Booster money. Why don’t you guys get it? The money is donated by former alumni towards the football program, they can’t just take it and put it into educational programs. Take that up with the city and the state, not the football program.

Quick question: What does their chemistry lab look like? I’m glad that they spent all that money on a place that a minority of the students will get to use.

StuckInActive did you look at the schools website and see what their academic facilities look like? Or are you just guessing? I’d be willing to bet the majority of that was payed for by boosters who give money DIRECTLY to the football program.

MY GOD! This school's budget...on par if not better than many good colleges. An indoor football field. Rogue equipped gym??? Even schools in some of the best neighbourhoods don't even come close. I was from such as neighbourhood. (not to pat myself on the back) An area where parents were at least doctors, lawyers...etc. Some owned known franchises. Average income was likely over $240k to a few million per year. Our gyms were tiny rooms with YORK gear. We didn't even have cast iron plates. Had the plastic filled with plaster or cement type. :) Kids weren't going to play pro sports at my school...most became dentists, doctors and top business people. This is in Toronto.
Add no school has the room this HS has. Did have an out door football field. But not on the level of this school by any faint stretch. Ohio. Who would have thought. :)
