Liberia has a beautiful & unique history. They named it Maryland because that's where they came from but at least we weren't colonized by the French or British. Judges in Nigeria still wear white wigs as if they're British & are still in the commonwealth. And At least when we get our act together in Liberia we won't have to fight for land, those white folks in South Africa will never give the good land back to the Africans. Long Story short,I was born here but both my parents are Liberian & I love ALL ASPECTS OF MY HOMELAND

Yom Rap If you love all aspects of your country that should include the white immigrants that changed your entire world, also the whites made that land fertile and rich, and when they're all but gone and you get all the land back your poor management will result in starvation. Zimbabwe was the bread basket a few years ago, not now.

Black Diamond, stop calling your people A TRIBE. Have you ever heard any European refering to his people as A TRIBE? Grebo is your ETHNIC GROUP and not a tribe. That word has negative connotation and actually is used by Westerners to portray African groups as primitive and savages. That is why when they talk about conflicts among groups in Africa , they always say TRIBAL WAR but when they talk about the same thing in Europe , they say ETHNIC CONFLICT. So we Africans have to be careful about the words we use to portray ourselves.

I would love to go to Liberia to rebuild and restore but there's still a lot of discourse with the natives and "foreigners". Our ancestors were taken from Africa and returned to land that was purchased yet people still feel we don't have the right to come home. Another civil war is not what I want if my presence is a threat.

This is bullshit reporting. The American blacks who returned to maryland were not welcomed by the grebo people because the American colonization Society tricked the Grebo into treaties that they did not understand. They land were taken by force to be given to the Americans and this sparked a war between the Grebo and the Americans who were supported by the US navy which open fire on the Grebo villages. The grebo had to flee for exile in neighborhood Ivory Coast. There is not telling how many grebos were massacred by the US navy in the war to take their land and give it to the former American slaves. Even the Maryland settlement were originally name the Republic of Maryland-In-Africa.

@Cool How did it belong to Afro-Americans when there were indigenous people already there? Just cause they were black doesn't automatically grant them access to the land. Furthermore, many of the Afro-Americans felt superior to the natives and pretty much set up a similar oppressive system like the U.S. I'm Afro-American by the way.
