"NATO is not buying Ukraine time. Ukraine is buying NATO time." - Prof. Timothy Snyder
I agree with that statement. Putin made it clear he won't stop at Ukraine. Ukraine is trying to fight this war the best they can so that this war doesn't spill over into the rest of Europe. If Putin decides to attack any of the countries on the border like Hungary, Slovakia or Poland, (I don't think Moldova has joined NATO) then NATO will have to worry about being pulled into this war.
Ukraine doesn't need to join NATO. NATO needs to join Ukraine!
After Ukraine unconditionally defeats then partitions Russia into rump states what will be the purpose of NATO other than to protect Europe from Ukraine?
Exactly. They should be begging them to join
BRAVO !!!!
WELL SAID !!!!
True. They teach us how to fight a 21th century massive landwar and how to fight for surival as free people in a free nation. Something Putinlovers wil never understand, the value of freedom.
Fuck yeah!!!
Every single NATO country could and SHOULD learn from Ukraine's bravery, resilience, determination to defend their country. They are an example of pure courage to all those wibbly wobbly highly paid officials and politicians in all Europe and America.
I must agree
Superb comment, Jane.
The egg on the face of Trump and EU acolytes...and others...imagine watching 120 130 k enemy maneuvered on your borders..and agreeing with lickspittle Lavrov...
Right on well and truly said!
Man, they are letting Russians get a lot of territory purposely so to make NATO's countries and their population get involved directly in the war.
Jen Stotenburg visiting Kyiv is a positive sign. It shows that NATO is serious about Ukraine's future place at the table.
Many family's have personal historical connections to Ukraine, among other nations
Ukraine needs to "Jon the Table Now." Who cares if there is a War
No, it shows NATO is continuing to string Ukraine along and has no intention of ever accepting them into the alliance.
@@horrornovelreviews8358 To what end? Can you elaborate?
Ukraine will be accepted into NATO. The UK France and the USA will bring pressure to bear. 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
The Ukraine is surely an example of defending democracy and the free world. It makes me angry that countries like Hungary, who benefited a lot from this protection, are now the reason for weakening it.
"Ukraine" not The Ukraine
it is a country not a un named collective province
Please dont say "The Ukraine" this is something Russians do and it suggests Ukraine is an oblast of Russia and not its own country, which it is. USSR used to call it the Ukraine, its long since time to escape that past.
The Hungarian government under Orban is an absolute disgrace!
I'll not fight for that cocain-hellgebete "democracy".
Hungary has shorter memory than a goldfish. 1956 is not prehistory.
Ukraine is the most creative and competent military force in mainland Europe!!….

The EU believed in the economic 'friendship' with Russia, Putin just thought to use gas and oil as a whip to hold Europe back whilst he attacked Ukraine - Putin proved the EU leaders were asleep to the threat he poses. The hand of friendship should've been extended to Ukraine years ago, we have to help our friend in need. Slava Ukraini 💛💙🇺🇦🇬🇧💛💙
Agreed...we actually have been helping ( us in the UK....) since before 2014....
Hindsight is 20/20. A democratic Russia looked like a strong possibility in 1990. Putin's did not show his true colors until the Chechen War.
Ukraine will be such an asset to NATO after this cruel stupid war. We need more western leaders with Churchillian spirit. At the moment Macron seems to be leading the way but others are slowly, much too slowly waking up. Stay Safe Anna and Slava Ukrainia ❤❤
Unfortunately, this usually seems to be the Achilles heal of democracies. Churchill and Roosevelt knew what was coming, but people refused to believe the threat.

American media largely ignores civilian casualties in Ukraine. Obsession with Gaza as if that was the only place on Earth with loss of life and human rights abuses.
That's true, but here's a good little sign- my local Protestant church in the rural South donates money to help build wells in Eastern Ukraine where infrastructure was demolished by russian war crimes. Also, they give humanitarian aid in Myanmar and Pakistan. ❤ I love to see it

Slava Ukraine!
I have a son who is interested in joining the army here in New Zealand. As a father, I would be proud if NZ stationed him in Ukraine along the Belarus or Moldavia border, so that Ukraine's troops could be redeployed where more urgently needed. France has championed this emerging concept of non combat contribution of manpower. The world is behind Ukraine, not just with arms and treasure, but with our sons and daughters who wish to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. More countries will have the courage to join France- it is only a matter of time.
Moldova border isn't the problem..Even not Transnistria..🤓
@@martinkasper197 You are right- Transnistria is irrelevant. It's not even a country. The Moldavian border ties down Ukrainian security forces better used elsewhere. Coalition forces could easily carry out border defense duties with this non escalatory use of western manpower.
@@SwarmerBees Any NATO forces in Ukraine, even on the border with Moldova, would be seen as escalatory.

I disagree. An invitation from NATO now does NOTHING to improve Ukraine's military situation and is akin to NATO showing all of it's cards to Russia in this game of poker.
Hello Anna 👋🏼 🌻🇺🇦🙏🏻💞I would comment more, but I am cooking & getting ready to move out to forest.
Congrats once again🥳
NATO needs to say that it will treat Ukraine like a member in terms of arms support, even if personnel are a country specific response.

The world should have stepped in when Putin invaded Crimea.
Anna unfortunaly it's true. NATO article : Countries at war cannot be part. I know it's terrible.
That rule should be rescinded or nullified.
I agree. Also in Eeurope the rules must change: no VETO in EU and NATO especially for Orban and Erdoghan
Ukraine will overcome this, Ukraine and it's desire to be a free, sovereign country is in a different league. The resilient people of Ukraine have earned the admiration, respect and protection from the likes of Ruzzia ad infinitum. Now the US has finally put it's supposed values first again, it's time to call Putin's bluff, use the proceeds from confiscated assets and turn this war around decisively. Outstanding truths exceedingly well-expressed with heart and soul-Slava Ukrainii!
I vote Ukraine in NATO!
"Ukraine will not be invited to Join NATO until Russia permits". Well said! It is shameful just how little courage the USA and Europe presents to Putin.
is the desire to get US, or even easier, European troops into Ukraine, who are mostly younger than the Ukrainian men who won't fight?
@@icu17siberia "They need ammo, not a free ride. Won't fight? Are u tripping? Ukrainian men and women are doing the fighting along with foreign volunteers and a few others but NO... no one is calling for NATO soldiers fighting for Ukraine.
Sadly France and Germany turned down Ukraine's membership to NATO in 2008.
@@franceyneireland1633 Ukraine was simply not ready and sadly turned down,
I think they have made great strides in sorting themselves out...
In 2004, the Ukrainian presidential election was a significant event that led to what is known as the Orange Revolution. This was a series of protests and political events that took place in response to allegations of massive corruption, voter intimidation, and direct electoral fraud. The election saw a close race between Viktor Yanukovych, who was backed by the Kremlin, and Viktor Yushchenko, a pro-Western politician. The first round of the election was held on October 31, 2004, where both candidates received about two-fifths of the vote. A second round was held on November 21, 2004, which was marred by widespread allegations of fraud, including the poisoning of Yushchenko, which many believe was an assassination attempt by the pro-Russian faction.
@@franceyneireland1633 In a lot of ways Ukraine is a different country now compared to then. Much of the Eastern world is leaning to the West.. if only we care enough to encourage such entreats
💙💛💙🇺🇦💙💛💙
Hi Anna. I believe Ukraine already has a seat at the NATO table despite that it has not joined as a full member yet. I think from NATO’s perspective, this gesture you mention has already been extended, in that part of the path to membership was eliminated for Ukraine in the interest of speed, an exception made, and NATO regularly says aloud that Ukraine will be a member, a matter of when and not if, and will make the alliance stronger. Ukraine is also working with NATO in multiple capacities. I understand how you feel, and I wish Ukraine was able to join many years ago, but from my perspective there is no hold up except the rule you mention and NATO is anxious to include Ukraine. I watch every NATO conference and briefing and it feels like this is just considered a given nowadays, a 100% sure thing, only in time. The U.S. is still signalling that too. This month, Blinken said “Ukraine will become a member of NATO. Our purpose at the summit is to help build a bridge to that membership," in Brussels, so perhaps something more formal like you are hoping for soon. In my view, it cannot be soon enough. NATO will be stronger with Ukraine. 🇺🇦 ❤
Well done, SB, that was an excellent, long post! I can’t make any long posts on Anna’s channel! Hugs to you!🤗🌻🇺🇦🔱

@@SomethingBlonde-oc7sc
Try to switch to "latest" and then back.
Not enough defence missiles the eu is asleep. Need 17:patriots. It's just 17 billion what's the problem??
worse, its just 1 per country that have them, and there are ~200 in Europe now
It may be the case that those measures may be not publicated.
Ukraine should have joined NATO years ago, but other EU countries still believed that Putin was some sort of honourable person and denied that possibility on request of that creature. Now we have this.
Unfortunately, NATO can't accept a country that is currently at war. Even if went forward, there would be member states that would likely vetoe it (as disgusting as I find their leaders).
However, since this should have been done and was not, the member states could do a lot more to aid Ukraine:
- On the ground technical advisors for the weapon systems.
- Short, medium and long range Air Defense systems in quantity and enough interceptors.
- Long range striking capabilities (e.g., ATACMS and Taurus).
- APCs and IFVs
- Ammunition (we all know the problems with these.
- Surveillance equipment.
Whatever is needed.
My comments are being axed again...🙄 Trying again:
Ukraine needs NATO. But NATO needs Ukraine at least as much! 💙💛🌻🇺🇦🇳🇱
NATO doesn't need anything except the member countries to fund their militaries as they agreed to.
@@TheBandit7613 Really? So the hands-on experience in and knowledge the Ukrainian army has about fighting russia, the country that presents itself as NATO's biggest enemy, are useless to armies from NATO-countries?
@@iris1224wwad Russia is not actually a strong military. They were using untrained men and f'ing prisoners! We (the US) sent our outdated weapons from the 80's and 90's and look what they did to Russia. The US will never fight like Ukraine is. Go in with overwhelming air support and establish air superiority in 24 hours. Hit communications, radar, utilities, airfields, ect. Ukraine vs. Russia is basically WWI fighting with artillery, fox holes, shelling ect. We are WELL past WWI tactics.
@@TheBandit7613
You know full well that the 2% of GDP funding you refer to is a GUIDELINE, not a prerequisite of membership. It is also money individual members pay for their OWN defence. It does not go to NATO.
@@philippage60 In 2006, NATO defense ministers agreed that each member country would commit a minimum of 2% of its GDP to defense spending. PERIOD. Most have not been following the recommendations, relying on the US to do the spending. The US is getting tired of making up for the lack of spending considering we don't live in Europe. Time for members to pull their own weight, don't you think?
Some might think they can simply pretend to be friends with russia and try to forget about the war. I most certainly do not, but I do believe that those who would rather not help are becoming marginalized. Hopefully more people start to support Ukraine. If that happens, there's little chance the powers that be will stop sending aid. Slava Ukraini!
I agree with you that is the only way to stop it
Kharkiv, a city of over a million people is under daily bombardment by russia. Over 20,000 homes have been destroyed since the start of the war. The situation is similar to the Blitz in London during WW2. russia is hitting the centre of Kharkiv daily with glide bombs. It has targeted fire stations throughout the region with Iranian drones. It uses 'double tap' strikes to kill first responders. Civilians die every day. Since December 2023, Kharkiv has been hit by more missiles than at any other point in the war. These are war crimes.
Kharkiv has up to 12 air raid alerts every day. Because of the proximity to the front line, they have only about 40 seconds to get to cover from ballistic missiles. russia is trying to destroy the city and cause another wave of refugees. This is what russia does. This is who they are.
It is a real pain to hear this every time. Even if it doesn't help now, knowing that Russia can never win the war and Putin his regime will be held accountable for its crimes can provide some relief.
@@JorgeniLund If it is a pain, don't do it.

Hello Anna, you make excellent points, NATO would benefit greatly from Ukraine being part of NATO but the least democratic Hungry will object.

With all love to Ukraine. Right now, the country is on life support, and only foreign aid and brave Ukrainian soldiers are keeping Ukraine alive.
Ukraine will be invited when the country is strong enough to be a partner, militarily and financially. We love Ukraine but please understand you have to recover. Again, please do not take it negatively. We all want you to be in NATO.
Thanks for your update. NATO requires applicants to have settled borders and issuing the invitation for the final step of the process, the membership action plan, requires unanimity from the existing members. Convincing Hungary and Slovakia (at least under their current governments) to go along with Ukrainian membership will require very delicate yet firm diplomacy.
