Helloooooooooooo friends! I genuinely had so much fun making this scene and video, it's so cool to be able to easily create this type of art in Unreal now - and even more mind blowing that you can get this type of quality in real-time. I also wanted to do a step by step tutorial like this to show an actual workflow that you can apply to any scene. Hope this is helpful and thank you all for the support, it really means a lot 🥹🫶🏽 - Krátké a kreslené filmy
For everyone who had the texture issue with foliage in version 5.4 only appears when the cloner is at World Center X0 Y0 Z0, resulting in black textures. A temporary solution: offset the Z axis to 0.01, which resolves the problem for now.
Yes! Thank you for posting this - just got back home and I'm glad yourself and others are helping people with questions in the comments 🙏🏽 Really means a lot 🫶
Thanks really great tips
Thanks !!! 😁
Still having trouble with this. Offset from 000 doesn't work :'(

Hey, first off: thanks for the tutorial! This is so cool!
For everyone having issues with the black material - there's a temporary solution:
Offset the Z axis of the cloner to 0.01 - this resolves the problem and shows the material again
worked for me. Thanks
BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....................... I've been searching for a tutorial like this for like soooooo long. I can't believe it's finally something that can be done inside of Unreal Engine 5.4!!! Really really really appreciate the time you've put.....
New favorite page. Your tutorials are the perfect mix of information and pace. Please keep creating more!
Ali, you're destined for greatness, thank you for sharing such powerful knowledge with the community! Super easy to follow, charismatic, and extremely clean presentation. Kudos!
Hey man your tutorial was really helpful thank you. Don’t worry about correcting yourself so much, you’re doing great 👍
Nature is healing! Amazing effect!
Amazing simple tutorial man. Very easy to follow. I feel like II absorbed possibly 100% of that in one watch. I also really liked how you show the bugs and crashess that are still prevalent.
Very relaxing, love the music background, and of course your amazing tuto. CHeers
Thanks everyone for the amazing feedback and support 🥹 Seriously means a lot, and also I’ll get back to your questions ASAP! In the middle of travelling at the moment so once I get back I’ll be making some more fun tutorials 🤞🏽🫶🏽
You are the actual goat for this.
Instant like man. Good job😊 subscribed
This is absolute gold! You have a unique approach on the new cloner and the detail of your teaching (and bloopers) are very much appreciated! Please keep us informed as you learn more about 5.4 Motion Design!
Thank you so much! This kind of comment really hits hard and I genuinely appreciate it a lot 🥹🫶Yes the videos will keep on coming!
Oh man, I've been struggling with the growth effect for 6 months. Thanks for the tutorial, it's super amazing! Now I can't wait for 5.4 to bring this project again. Motion design from 5.4 is super powerful
same 💫💫💫🎉
This is the tutorial I have looking for !!! Thank you very much !!!
Great work Ali!, Nicely presented All the best inshaAllah
Thank you for great and detailed tutorial. Learnt a lot in a really practical way
OHYA! Thanks, will definitely use this
Soo many possiblities ...thanks for the tutorial man...i was too lazy to do this in blender... now i can do this effect in unreal...great....make more these type of tuts...great tutorial
At the end, where you are moving he sphere effector, would be a great way to attach to the feet of a character, so as the chracter walks, where it steps, depending on the length of time they stand there, foliage could grow or die. Spawn seperate Cloners for each foot. I could just imagine a dragon with fur like grass, and scales on its underside walking through a prairie, and where it steps, prairie flowers grow, and then wither and die as it walks away
Truuuuee - I've had an idea in mind of something similar where the effector is a child of an object and making a cool scene based on that
This is super cool!
Thank you for the workflow. Wanted to see sth like this so it click better for me.
amazingggg tutorial thanks
I really loved this video! As it's new, there isn't a lot of content out there right now for UE 'Motion Graphics' tools in 3D pipeline - similar approaches that you would use to C4D or Blender, like you did here. I've seen some for a 2.5D pipeline, almost similar to After Effects 3D layers (but easier use), however, proper 3D for motion graphics within Unreal is certainly of interest. Your content on this workflow is a great wealth of knowledge, would love to see more.
Nice simply tutor, thank U...very usefull
Great video - thank you:)
5.4 I didn't have the manual, so I didn't know much about the features, but thanks to this tutorial, I've learned a lot. Thank you
love your videos! ✌
loved it thankyou very much
This motion tools will help not only in motion graphics but in games too, I hope performant will be good. Thx for tut.
its lovely
Yes, more please😍
This is nice great job 🤙🏾
The UE 🐐himself, thank you fam 🙏🏽
thk you so much for this video, it's very cool !!
Very cool!
super cool❤
amazing_ thank you so much bro
I love the first frame, it looks like two hands in shadow in the shape of a dragon.
❤ thanks for this
THANK YOU
Thank you for this tutorial, this was extremely helpful in my understanding of the current work flow for a project, though the meshes really did not work for me. However, I would also like to request if you could also create a niagra tutorial for the same foliage growth in unreal that would be extremely helpful.
Amazing bro, subbed ! but where do you get 5.4
Thanks for the tutorial, this looks awesome!
But is it possible to clone alembic instead of static meshes?
I tried adding a geomеtry cache to the cloner, but only one working alembic animation appears, you can only increase the number by manual copying
Doooope!!
master
I wonder how to setup the basic studio and light. do you have any plan to make the basic setup?
Thanks for the tutorial. Question: My cloner grows in certain spots only by default ;) I added over 30k samples and I am using the wooden barrel from Quixel. this happens without having the Scale "0" effectors in those areas. it seems the mesh does not have vertexes there to spawn. but I am not sure. 2nd question is: The cloner on the tree bark spawned randomly in the space and not on the tree bark. So, I had to use another asset.
cool! it's possible to attach cloner into an animated character?
I had just watched your Cloners and Effectors video yesterday and was going to reach out to you to see if you knew a way to do this sort of effect. I've had a portfolio project in my head for years where it started as a zbrush piece but wanted to bring it to live in a game engine and now, it seems I can. Thank you
Now I just gotta wait til 5.4 releases for everyone!
Just a curiosity question you might be able to answer...can you use effectors to material swap/transition?
@@R0NINnoodles I thiiiiiiiink there might be a way! I'm doing some testing of that now and will make a video once I get it working. Can finally test things out now that I'm back home on my PC 🥹 Also thank you for the kind words! Also definitely keen to see the folio piece 🙌🏽
it seems that boundaries are being pushed by UE5.4, enabling the simulation of Houdini effects like liquids and particles, procedural growth, and wind! 🔥
Hahahaha for sure! Still quite far from Houdini/Blender/C4D I have to admit 😅
Hi! Great tut! Anyone else get the issue of the "lillys" (or other vegetation) appears everywhere in the space but not on the actual model?
good music
Very cool, this is helpfull, thanks🥰 are you planning to put some template online for learning purpose?
Yes I am! Just trying to figure out the best way to share the templates and also make sure they last through different engine versions + are the most helpful to viewers
can you please share your render settings?
are you able to add this effect to text? When I tried changing the cloner to effect my text, it only displayed on one of the letters in my word
Great video! This was a lot of help!
Question: The material for the plants...I made a material just like yours, but it still isn't showing any color in the viewport. I tried forcing an update and turning it On/Off a bunch of times. Is there anything else that you, or anyone else, know any other ways to remedy this issue?
Offset the cloner to 0.1
I don't know if it's in large-scale architectural and plant scenes.... Push and scatter combination changes. What will happen
Niceeeee, It's time to ge back to unreal I bet. Is this path traced or ray traced? If ray traced it's pretty close to path traced from other renderers
hi Ali thanks for your video, what is your pc spec? because idk why im lagging asf with only 5000 instance in cloner with a pretty good spec :o
Just recently upgraded my PC after years! Specs below:
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
RTX 4090
128GB RAM
Many thanks for this tutoriel ! when i drag the Lilys meshes into the cloner, Unreal crash :( do you know why ?
Sorry I really don't know - this version is not very stable so I'd say if it keeps happening try using a different plant model? Thanks for the kind words 🙏🏽
killer. can this use wind to rustle the leaves?
You could enable the wind effect on the quixel material and it should work!
omaga i think i'll migrate to 100% unreal in a few months
🤩
thx for the tutorial, reall nice technique.. just one question: when I up the count of the lillys to 7500 they son't cover the whole bark like in the tutorial. they seem to cover spots more densly but not the whole thing
I'd say to just keep playing with the seed or the type of cloning it does (vertices, faces etc.) - I had to play with the seed a lot until I got something that looked right.
Thx for the reply. I will play arround a bit more..
Hello, I downloaded 5.4 just for this effect. I never had any problems in 5.3, but 5.4 takes a very long time to loading screen and I crash at the slightest operation. What can I do? 5.4 does not work properly. By the way, my computer and system are quite sufficient
Dang, didn't know UE5 can do that. Pretty interesting.
one app to rule them all
hello ali I want your advice for one who want start learning 3d for motion graphic b3d or c4d?
honestly I wish I stuck with Blender - it was the first ever 3d software I was introduced to - but C4D is really powerful, however they've made it reaaaaally expensive as of late and tbh Blender can do all of the same things if not more. C4D has great out of the box tools and I personally love the UI and the system of how generators, effectors, and scripts work. Also if you want to work in the product viz/marketing industry in 3D, a lot of studios use C4D which is definitely a factor when looking for jobs.
@@ali.3d but everyone say c4d better for motion graphics and 3d proudct
Question 2: I keep trying to do the spawn on a pillar mesh. Everything is spawning, but it is spawning the meshes just off to the side of the mesh. Is there an offset somewhere that can adjust this?
Make sure the rotation cloner is all set to 0. That fixed it for me
Yep as @wang3D said, you can also use an effector to adjust the rotation of all the clones - I usually add a single one in to control the rotation of all my clones so they are rotated the same way. You can also use the "Range" setting within the cloner and just make all the rotation values the same.
❤
Thank you! But I have a question, when I render ,all the plants will disappear. That’s why😢
Maybe try the console variable "foliage.ForceLOD 0" ? Or reset the cloner coordinates, or re-create the cloner.
@@ali.3d thank you! I had resolved the problem, I rendered the frame when the foliage appeared ,then the foliage can be rendered. But I don’t know the exactly reason. I will trying with you way!
Gangster!
Move the cloner to 0.1 offset to fix the textures
TY
well when i put the cloner to mesh and select the mesh the plants are gone and not appearing back tried it on a different mesh and sadly same result, good tutorial doe !
Is your cloner at the origin? Try moving it away from 0,0,0
@@ali.3d I also had this problem. I moved it to the original and it worked. Thanks!
For some reason, the when the Layout Name is set to Mesh, it's not working, even with other meshes not just foliage. If anyone knows anything about this please tell...
Does restarting the engine make it work when using Mesh? I was having this issue sometimes as well. Usually just removing re-adding effectors worked or just dragging the clones out of the cloner and back in would also work sometimes. Also just make sure the scale of your clones is big enough to see
When I change the Cloner's layout name to mesh, my foliage disappears. However they are visible in the grid and different layout options. I tried to tun it on and off and even force cloner update but to no avail. Did anyone have this issue? Any fixes?
Same tbh, I'm trying to see what's wrong. I changed the foliage to movable, tried Force Update Cloner, nothing is working when selecting Mesh layout... I'm even using the same mesh as the tutorial here, just a different foliage plant.
@@ramixsabeh hey, I deleted the cloner and just restarted the entire process and it worked.
@@wang3D Thanks man, I'll try again and see if it works...
@@wang3D Okay so my problem was that I wasn't resetting the location and rotation of the cloner to default (0.0,0.0,0.0) But thanks for the help! I cleaned out my scene just as you suggested and that lead me to understand the problem :) Thank you
@@ramixsabeh awesome!
because the sheets have only one color and do not keep the original material... I am learning slowly.
can we do this in unreal engine 5.3 ?
Motion design is a feature that starts with Unreal 5.4.

Thank you for the lesson! How to animate the camera?
Will make a video on basic tips of how I animate/keyframe cameras in Sequencer! For this it was really simple - either using an empty actor as a target, or just keyframing the camera and adjusting the timing using curves.
@@ali.3d Thank you! :)
