Kristina Hey, just wanted to make a quick recommendation. Right after this video came out I bought the CeraVe wash along with the moisturizer and I think it’s a perfect duo. The moisturizer is really light no matter how much I put on, effective and hasn’t clogged up my pores 💁🏻‍♀️

D Maria i don’t think they do at the moment 😕 I know they did come out with a fragrance free version of their classic cold cream so I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before they release their other products without fragrance! I wish brands would list the specific fragrances they used. I have sensitive skin too and the fragrance in this doesn’t irritate me, but fragrance in other products do. If we were given a list it would be so much easier for us to avoid those specific fragrances we know will irritate our own skin!

I’d love to see you compare the more “name brand” drugstore brands (ie cerave, aveeno, neutrogena, anything) with the equate (Walmart) or studio 35 (Walgreens) brand products that are supposedly dupes. It’d be interesting to see how similar those formulas really are 😊👍🏻

I have used both the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and their Foaming Cleanser. I like them both but prefer the texture of the Hydrating one. What I'd like your opinion on is the Equate version of the CeraVe Hydrating or Foaming one. Equate has a dupe for each. Would be great to hear your thoughts on them and the ingredient list comparison. Maybe even try it yourself for a while. This last bottle I bought was the Equate version and I do like it myself.

Hi Kenna, I love your videos and I like that you mentioned pH, but I have a question: you said that a lot of bar soaps tend to have very alkaline pH levels, but do you know of bar soaps any that are pH balanced to be better for the skin? I find it really difficult to balance my skincare needs but also consider my preference to buy bar soaps that don't come with packaging to be more environmentally friendly. I'm also a biochemist and I'm SO glad you talk about the actual scientific reasons that things tend to be irritating to the skin because it is relevant in each skincare product.

    • @KennaWhitnell

It is pretty tough to find bar soaps with a low enough pH. One way to try to counter act this is by following up right away with a pH balanced toner (pH of 3.5 to 5.5.) to wash the skin from the alkaline soap residues.

Hi Kenna. I love your videos. I live in Japan and a couple of days ago I did an at home botanical peel. They sell those at normal drugstores, but I couldn’t find a lot of info about the active ingredients. The manufacturer only says it’s an ingredient from marine sponge, the call it spongia or kaimen powder. After you massage the powder+gel mixture on your face, it feels like tiny, invisible to the naked eye, needles are pierced into your skin, and my face was red and hot like a sunburn. After 24 hours the needles sensation went away and the redness too. Now, after about 36 hours my skin is very dry and peeling.
Do you know anything about this active ingredient? It’s really safe? And it sounds better than a chemical peel, what do you think?
I thought maybe you could talk about it in a video since it’s something not many people know about apparently. I only saw something about something similar once, in a youtube video, and it was an at spa treatment, in the US. But I can’t find the video anymore.
If you want to know more about the actual product I use, I could send you pics on IG.
I’m really curious to know how this work.

    • @roootheee
      @roootheee Před 4 lety +4

Emily King there’s very little regulation on a company making these types of claims. I recommend checking a 3rd party site like Cruelty Free Kitty, Logical Harmony, or Leaping Bunny, to name a few. There are reasons companies can make those claims without it being completely true. Those 3rd party sites are kinda like unofficial auditors and do some deeper digging on the details. Especially if you live in the US where regulations on skincare and makeup are lax compared to Canada or many European countries. Also keep in mind that just because it’s vegan doesn’t mean it’s cruelty free and vice versa. Kinda counter-intuitive if you ask me, but it is what it is. I’m not an expert, this is based on my experience and knowledge I’ve acquired on my cruelty free journey. I hope this helps!

Hi Kenna! If i were to leave this, or the hydrating cleanser, on the skin for a couple minutes after i finished massaging into the skin, would it help the niancinamide and ceramides to work ?

Will have to switch. I have no idea why but an Olay product I was gifted for Christmas that has glycolic acid in it absolutely ruined my chin. I don't know if the product was expired or if my skin just reacts badly to the acid in it, but now I have horrible acne all over my chin and a big dry spot that flakes and doesn't seem to get better, even though I moisturize it with an oil free moisturizer like three times a day. Thank you so much for all of your videos! Edit: I'd love a moisturizer version of this video :) ❤

I have been using the sa version and loving it. Speaking of body odor, I would love to see your deodorant recommendations. I feel like I have not narrowed down what works and ones with baking soda irritate my underarms so bad. The struggle is real!
Love your videos though, cheers from Vancouver island!

I've used the CeraVe foaming face wash for over 10 years. It's amazing. Can't go back to anything else. Still have to try it for a body wash. How is it for the hair and scalp?

What’s you’re opinion on the neutrogena hydroboost exfoliating cleanser? I use it a lot bc of the glycolic and lactic acid

Hey Kenna, what is your experience of using the Ceravé body wash? Why not use that for your underarms?

  • @magdalenahernandez1562

👋🏻 hi! Do you think we should/need to use a wash every time we shower? Is that safe for the skin or necessary?

I just got the Sukin cream cleanser to try. It's weird trying a cream as a cleanser. So far so good. It doesn't strip my skin that's for sure. I'll get this cerave next time. I already use the cerave pm moisturiser for my face daily. Love it , it's light weight and sinks right into the skin
