- On Today’s episode of the John Wayne Gritcast, we are joined by John Wayne’s personal Doctor and very close family friend, Dr. Bob Egan.
Bob was very close with the Wayne family, he even had Michael Wayne as his best man in his wedding! Ethan Wayne and Bob reminisce on life with Duke, including how Dr. Egan found out John Wayne’s Akita was giving everyone in the house strep throat, visiting Duke on set in Durango, and John Wayne’s journey with cancer.

Nick Adams was in the series ‘Johnny Yuma’ and in this series ‘Johnny Yuma’ he wore a confederate type of ball cap. It was about a man after the civil war living experiences. Some 65 years ago. Didn’t one of you who wear a cap like that in one of your movies with your dad? Was that you who rode the motorcycle? Or was that you who got kidnapped?
The movie, the one where “Palladian” kidnaps your little & brother?
I watched Nick Adams a lot in this series he was and is likened him
But your Dad was and still is #1 in my book probably across this USA. There are so many people who shed tears just thinking about your dad, we wish he was still alive and healthy and making memories with you. We loved, and still love him.❤
There will be no one ever beloved as he was and is ever again.
Good to hear these stories from your dads doctor now the public knows that he got good care his adult life. Not all famous people had doctors that really care about them, take Elvis for example. I don’t know if his doctors could have saved him. This doctor helped to keep your dad healthy as long as he could.

Really good guest......Question from Coos Bay, Oregon.....Did Mr.Wayne have a home on the Rogue River?
Dr John kappler who bob Egan mentions in that book was diagnosed with mental illness and treated by a variety of psychiatric hospitals during his career. The man he killed with his car in 1990 was himself a psychiatrist, plus he tried to murder various patients over the years. He was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Great interview. Ethan’s rather charismatic and patient. Wouldn’t trust this Eagan guy as far as I could throw him particularly with my life but great storyteller non the less. Has no idea y dad had 2 cancers. “Environmentally?” Ethan runs a cancer research deal for how many decades now? And own father dies of not one but 2 cancers? At a rather early age. Great guy to get ur barbs refilled though. Sry for neg com but call it as I see it. Elites hiding the cures.
