Toyota Celica TA22 2TG episode 24 50$ rear coilovers. DIY rear coilover conversion starts. episode 1

Ok, We jump off the deep end and try to get some janky old used coilovers fitted up and rebuild to suit the otherwise hard to coilover ta22 celica.
Well not hard... But expensive... let´s change that!
I´ll be doing a full how to video at some point. this is only the progress video on the 71´ celica build.

I bought AVOs for my AE86 but thought they might fir my TA28. Not so sure now after watching this. I converted AE86 BC front coilovers using T3 top mounts and they look like a good job. No idea how they feel as the engine is not yet in the car. I am trying to stick to period performance also and have an 18rg to go in. I sometimes wonder if I will ever finish the thing!

Hi David… I also read that the ae stuff Would work on the celica’s but so far, not really in the back. The height and mounting is the same for shocks… but springs, not so much.
This did the trick for me, I will be getting softer springs, it’s a really hard ride right now.. but hey.. 50 bucks coilovers.
And sure you will… make it a priority..

Are you going to convert the brakes to disc ?

Right now it’s “just” the suspension and paint…
I might look into brakes later on
