the second bit was hilarious. how a serious interview was turned into that brilliant piece of editing. of, course Stephen Fry & Hugh Laurie have appeared together numerous times. A Bit of Fry & Laurie, Jeeves & Wooster & Blackadder being 3 that i can think of off the top of my bonce!!
I was asked by a camera crew to give a street interview. I declined & then they tried to persuade me to do it. Again, I declined. Then they started begging me to do it, and I declined. Then I decided to walk away and they pursued me! I had to hide behind a pillar to finally get rid of them. That was in about '88/89.
My wife was with several friends after a night out and was stopped by the BBC who were doing interviews about drunk and disorderly behaviour. They asked if the ladies, they were all over 40, could wave their legs in the air for fun. BBC national news next morning with a picture of my wife, life size on the wall behind the newsreaders, singled out with editing, in a feature on drunks. We owned a pub at the time, my wife said nobody would notice it was her, the first customer through the door brought a DVD with the full interview.
I lived on an estate, and going out one day, a guy was crouching in the exit. I asked him what was up to, and he said 'filming for 'The Bill' You may never have heard of it, but it used Roundshaw as the 'badass' place. It was no worse than other place, but it looked bad
They did one called “Be Nice” where they played rappers. It’s hilarious. I won’t spoil it if you haven’t seen it. And of course, there’s Jeeves and Wooster, a classic.
Yeh, most older Brits know Hugh Laurie as a comedian first and foremost before House MD. Both Fry and Laurie both proved their respective talents early on as comedic skills first as did Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson too.
Check out a similar F&L clip where Hugh plays a F1 driver. Fry interviews and actually lands a real punch.👍🏻😂 Try Paxman interviewing Michael Howard. He asks him a question a dozen times without an answer. Felipe will laugh like a drain.🎤
This clip reminded me of the old street interview of "The Man from Strabane". Since you have an interest in UK accents, you might like this... czcams.com/video/Ij_5UGpjUsU/video.html

Stephen Fry admitted years later that he got immense enjoyment about hitting Hugh in many sketches :)
Look up 'Strabane man' - the fast-talking Irishman being interviewed by the BBC
"Will you go out with me?"
The girls in high school never answered correctly no matter how many times I asked.
