    I'm actually in the market for a new head unit to replace my stock unit which lacks Bluetooth. I wasn't considering Pioneer, but your review shows me I might have to reconsider. I also spend a lot of time in my vehicle (beverage sales), and Wireless Android Auto would be so useful!

      Completely agree. Really wish the prices were lower as well. I imagine that they will offer variants without the CD/DVD player in the future which will be a few hundred bucks cheaper.

    What you reviewers never mention is that these Pioneer head unit's wireless function DOES NOT work with the latest Samsung Galaxy phones. I just spent an hour with Pioneer technical support only to have the guy give me the last minute news...'Oh yeah, you won't be able to use phone call audio with a Samsung phone unless you use the USB cord, and the Maestro feature will sometimes make the entire system buggy"...
    Nowhere does Pioneer mention that Galaxy phones won't work wirelessly with these.

    And I think it's pretty obvious that the car audio industry is purposely slow rolling out the technology to make money. That's Pioneers "flagship" head unit"? Flagship? Really? Look at those buttons! They haven't changed since the 90s! I have a Note 10+ . It's 1/20th the size with 2000x the capability. What have they been doing for the past 20 years?? My phone can Make 3d images, can be turned into a credit card, IS a mobile film studio, has a pen that can control the screen, I can talk to people face to face live, check my heart rate, measure distances, store 10,000 songs, it's a calculator, it's a television, it's a camcorder, it has countless gps services and music players, AND it can get me laid.
    And the radio is like "I've got gps for those hard to reach places" and by the time it loads up I can order a pizza, hooker, and a tomahawk missle strike.....
    So again I ask- just what in the absolute mother bleeping bleep are you car stereo people doing? Besides nothing..

  • @tredfxman
    @tredfxman Před 6 lety +22

    Its weird how slow the development on this seems.. How come a device for 1200 USD lags? Is it poor hardware or just bad optimizations, or both? But yeah in the future when price drops & it gets more effective it will be interesting. Now though? No thanks, to early to invest in...

    • @Hightechtraveler
      @Hightechtraveler  Před 6 lety +4

      Car entertainment units are notoriously laggy. It's been that way for a decade. But honestly, it's not really that big of an issue since it's not a system that you're constantly interacting with like a smartphone. You ask for directions, start your Playlist and then maybe skip a few songs every ten minutes or so.

    • @joecalabro7929
      @joecalabro7929 Před 6 lety +2

    Price difference is absurd. You could buy a good phone with the better maps built in for the price difference. Being resistive as well as not being low resolution (relative to every other screen you can buy from even the cheapest tablets) just seems strange. Seems like it should be more expensive to use these low rest resistive screens given the scale of higher definition capacitive screen.
