  • Crossrope is the top jump rope brand right now. They have brought jumping rope to the forefront and created a huge jump rope community with their high-end product. They provide a strong app to help beginners and their build quality is stellar, but what if you just don't want to spend that kind of money? What if the crossropes just don't provide you with the same excitement they once did when you first were adding jumping rope to your workout routine? What are some solid alternatives?

As I was uploading this video I looked up the current pricing for Crossrope and I must make a correction. When I purchased my Get Strong set two years ago I paid $120-$130 and I also bough a Get Lean set for $80. It seems that the price has gone up and the Get Strong set now retails for $150 and the Get Lean set is $100. I wanted to be sure to share that correction as I quote the price as $120 in the video.

Elite Jumps (formerly Elite SRS) is the rope you want to get in the USA. They have 4/5/6mm pvc rope. I recommend the 6mm. Their PVC is soft and flexible vs the cheaper ropes.

Back in the day, if you wanted to jump rope for either boxing conditioning or Double Dutch you’d ask your mom or grandmother for some of her plastic clothesline that she magically always had. Today, you can get 100ft of it for $20 US dollars on Amazon. That being said, the Money Rope and CrossRope both have a place in your training regimen. For fitness, strength training, max calorie burn, & learning CrossRope is the answer. The handles provide the best turnover and the various weighted ropes boosts total calories burned over time and incorporates forearm, shoulder and mid back muscles.
The Money Rope is perfect for Travel, jumping w/o a mat, tricks, and general foot work.

you just saved my money. I was about to buy the crossrope but the price made me thinking not twice but 10 times. Then I came across with RA moneyrope and though it's still considered expensive due to currency change, it's significantly cheaper than crossrope. So after watching this video, I bought the moneyrope & loving it so much. I did try my friend's crossrope. Though the handles feel good, like you said moneyrope feels much better. I guess it's called moneyrope coz it's worth the money

I just got 3 more of the new money performance ropes and they're a lot of fun as well. I'd say that the money ropes are my favorite ropes. I can knock out double unders, double under crosses, and just go crazy with the money ropes. Like they're just smooth and awesome.

But I can tell for a fact it's not for that and I'm glad I'm not the only one getting my knuckles destroyed by these things. Waiting on a couple new ropes to come in including RA "Money" rope to give them a whirl excited to see how far I can push those vs the crossropes

You said you can't use the crossrope outside or without a mat??? That's the point of the crossrope, to use the outdoor on rough surfaces!!! They don't last forever, but much more than the others. I have both of them.. and I break the money rope when I do doubles or I jump in a park. Even the legacy rope wears off quicker than the crossropes

  • @lisapacarynuk9316

I use both! In fact, I don’t think it has to be either/or - it can be both/and! They serve different purposes. I love the RA because it goes everywhere with me and I can do cardio and basic boxing tricks. I use Crossrope’s for HIIT and other kinds of weight workouts. The weighted ropes are marketed as a more complete workout, burning more calories, including more muscles, etc. I’m surprised Dave Hunt referred to it only as a beginner, because many people use only the weighted ropes - just get different weights. The 1/4 lb or the Speed set are great. Agree that there is a big price difference, though, but they do serve a different purpose. Glad I found your channel!

I couldn't agree with you more. I started off with Crossrope back in 2017, and picked up a Money Rope a few months later. As you said, the Crossrope is great for feedback when you are just getting started, but you can't really do tricks with them beyond a simple criss-cross. Try and do some one arm swings with them and the handles and all that hardware will deny you every time. As soon as you said something about that damn hardware popping you in the knuckles, I could feel it as soon as you said it.
I will say that the new Crossrope Freestyle LE rope is pretty good when compared with the Money Rope. The handles of the CR are triangle shaped as opposed to the tube handles of the Money Rope and are significantly more rugged. Aside from the PVC cord wearing out, the MR handles will break at the bell end at some point. The CR FS LE also uses a 5mm PVC cord like the MR.
I recently picked up a new jump rope called the Rhythm Rope, but haven't tried it out yet.

I’m getting so sick and tired of people comparing the Crossrope which is pretty much a weighted rope to the money rope which is strictly a speed rope. Comparing apples to oranges. Crossrope does not promote their rope as a speed rope or freestyle rope. It’s is promoted as a cardio weight loss tool. If your goal is to skip rope for weight loss or muscle building then Crossrope will do it for you. If you want to be a freestyle skipper doing double unders, cross overs, etc then yes the money rope is perfect for you. They are 2 different ropes used for 2 different styles of skipping. Now if you compare the money rope or icon rope to the Crossrope bolt set then that would be a better comparison since those 3 fall under a speed/freestyle rope. Keep up the good work.

I bought a weighted rope out of curiosity for Crossrope as I've never come across a weighted rope I liked. Initially I liked the Crossrope and even bought another set. I used them for a year, but as I got better on jump ropes I learned I prefer the plastic style jump rope after trying the Rush Athletics rope. I'm saying it's better, to me, because I like training with it more than a $150 Crossrope at the time of the video. This is my overall opinion which Crossrope founder Dave Hunt discussed with me in my previous video comments. We discussed how the heavy crossrope is a good starting rope, but some people move on to regular plastic jump rope once they become comfortable jumping rope. Then I was made aware of the Crossrope Freestyle LE Limited Edition jump rope which I bought and have been training with and recently completed a video on.
I wish I was paid for my content, but sadly, I have not been offered any paid promotions or sponsorships. Maybe someday.
