I live 90 minutes from Asheville. My family loves it there, and we visit several times a year. This video is great. I like your focus on art and architecture.

Why not seem so bad? Is it getting more and more expensive.

Just visited Asheville this past June. Very nice city. I love the whole area. Not all Appalachia what MSM tries to paint it as.

Speaking of Asheville real estate prices, my family lived there 1972 to 1981 when I was a boy. My parents purchased a home with 1800 square feet plus a full basement for $45,000 in 1972. The house is near Beaver Lake in North Asheville. They sold the house in 1981 for $80,000 when a management change caused my father to lose his job. The house just sold in April 2024 for $800,000.

Lol when you mentioned the fella with the bricks and that it was weird… yep you’ll see a lot of weird things in Asheville. It never disappoints in the weird department. 😂 Everyone I know has a story and even I’ve got a few. People who live over here in Asheville area have mixed feelings. Some people love it and some people hate it. A lot of tagging everywhere you go around here, crime, drugs and homelessness is high here. Always full of tourists so it does get crowded on the streets. The area is nice but people sometimes aren’t. Yes it is expensive to live in this area. We got up to 96 yesterday and 94 the day before, it’s been hot. Hope you got to go up on the Blueridge parkway during your visit, that’s the nicest place around here. Inside that SW cafeteria btw are several restaurants inside, you should check it out , there’s some good food. I mentioned Kilwins Fudge shop in your Black Mountain video, we have a Kilwin’s here in Asheville also. Break Out is an Escape room, like a game you get locked into and you have to solve clues to find your way out. I do love all of the Art downtown and the sculptures and the murals. There’s a cool coffee shop that is inside a red double decker bus and that’s pretty neat to visit. There is a pinball museum downtown that’s pretty neat. Grove arcade is a building with different shops and restaurants in it. Almost all parking in Asheville btw is the paying type, you either pay a meter or have to pay a parking deck, and almost always have to walk a ways from where you park to get to your destination. Also try Barley’s taproom, it is a really cool spot to eat at. Down Patton Ave going towards west Asheville there are a lot more restaurants and fast food places and some cool shops, a couple vintage shops and album/record stores . The area there with the statues of the folks playing fiddle, that’s Harrah’s Theater or aka Thomas Wolfe Building where concerts and basketball games and graduations are held. They get some good entertainment there from time to time and affordable. The walking is nice depending where you walk to in Asheville and depending on the weather. On the other side of Asheville, the Biltmore Estate is a nice place to visit and walk around, lots of flowers and nature trails there. There’s also the Arboretum , it’s also nice and full of flowers and trails. Then there is the WNC Nature Center, that has all kinds of neat wild animals to go check out. That’s fun for the kiddos. They do have guided tours which I bet is what most tourists do when they come here. The Omni Grove Inn is not downtown unless that one is also named that, the one I know of is really fabulous and huge and farther from the downtown area, it’s fancy and they have a neat Gingerbread competition every Christmas season. That’s pretty much about it.

Thank you so much for the information. It will be useful to those who want to visit.
I thought I was getting the Omni Grove mixed up with the Grove Arcade. Thanks for clarifying.
I definitely want to come back. ❤️

That place was where the Vance Monument was a large obelisk. They took it down because he owned slaves. It was 75 feet tall.

It was early morning. People start moving about later in the day I suppose. I have been there in the afternoon and it was wall to wall people. But nothing like NYC. It is not that big.

Because here in the south, southern states in America unless you’re in Florida, most of us open buildings up between 8-10. A lot of places don’t get open until ten around here. A lot of places arnt even open on Sundays. Trust, there are tons of people downtown after 10 in the morning usually lunch time is the busiest.

@@ShesHereForTheMusic , Yep ya hit it right on the head.... Having traveled all over the US for work n living in NJ, NC n Florida in the south things go at a slower pace sidewalks roll up in most places early, banks close, Walgreens is even closed on Sundays.. Good thing we have a Dollar General open till 9pm. Only place open early is truck stops around by me... Florida is pretty much 24/7.... be well.
