HA!!! Your "Road rage here in Laurens South Carolina" line had me cracking up. That was funny. Classic! Nice quiet stroll and somebody drives by and leans on the horn. Good video brother.

So sad that these once nice little towns have gotten to the point of just hanging on, but I'm afraid that Bethune is about getting to the bottom of their curve. Like many of these towns you have taken us to, a combination of time, pass-by roads, plus big box stores and malls has made this town a "hanger on". Reminds me of your visit of Rocky Mount NC, where Main Street was booming in the 60's and is now a shell of empty stores on both sides of the track. That said, I do love your positive attitude as you tour these small towns, and your optimistic attitude. Looking forward to the next town Timothy.

Looks like the town changed over the years. I was here late 90's and it was thriving but different era we live in now closes businesses down. Just different way of life coming soon. All new homes and if you need anything just push a few computer buttons and it shows up at your doorstep.

Let's hope and pray that Bethune, SC, will be able to return its town center to its former glory/heyday levels in the immediate future. They certainly need to pressure wash all of their filthy sidewalks. FYI, there is/was an annual festival held in Bethune, SC's town center called The Bethune Chicken Strut. This two day event is normally held the second weekend in September. The festival is very family-friendly and includes a variety of entertainment options such as: a parade down Main Street; a classic car show; carnival rides; live music; various vendors; street dances; equine events; a beauty pageant; 5K race; poker run; and, a championship rodeo. The Bethune Chicken Strut began in the early 1970s and has been known to draw thousands of people to Bethune, which has a population of 321+ residents.

Thank you for showcasing our beautiful town! I live in clover and it’s not much, but it’s all we need to run a good town.

I saw the plaque in the little park near the water tower.

The block with all the empty stores is waIting for funding to restore the Empire Hotel into condos and store fronts. Brick buildings came with the railroad, bigger than Charlotte at the time. Thats why the Confederate prison was located here and many union soldiers died here as they could not feed 10,000. That building on the corner, brick 3 story was considered the first brick highrise in the state. The other side of the street (tall one) was the first steel highrise in the state. You missed many historical houses on Fulton. And its shotsbury... Democrat majority.

I love Greenville! It's a beautiful city and it has one of the best downtowns anywhere. It's clean and it doesn't have a homeless problem. The natural waterfalls downtown are arguably the city's best feature. Yes, Greenville has traffic problems (especially along Woodruff Road) but the pros of the city far outweigh the cons IMO.

I grew up in on the outskirts of Coats on 27. Went to the old school in my elementary years and still remember when that heating and air place was the train depot.

Fayetteville Road and also Roberts Avenue are the busiest parts of the town.

Lucky Pickens hasn’t been invaded by people from India,New York,and New Jersey Like Fort Mill and Charolette has.

The buliding that you called a grocery store was the original clasons hosiery mill before it was moved between star and biscoe and closed in the 2000s

I grew up in Belwood. My father took care of the community center most of my life. Until his passing. He prayed with many of people on the benches of that playground.

I like our little town but I am more of a Sampson county girl Clinton,NC. My family and I live at Bay Tree Lakes which is across the river. People are identified by living in town or across the river…a little nonverbal riff you might say! It would have been great if you could have a local person to give you a grand tour and educate you on some of the history.

Mr. French, top of the day to you! That four-lane, noisy highway that runs through the heart of McBee's town center has destroyed the town as that road is more a throughway for commuter traffic, hence the two Exxon gas stations located on the opposite sides of the highway at that major intersection. Timothy, since you are a former firefighter, I thought you would like to know that McBee, SC, boasts one of the largest fire districts in Chesterfield County, SC. The Alligator Fire District is home to five fully operating stations spread all over the district. Oh, and Timothy, please know that I thank you for the firefighting services you provided to the city of Charlotte, NC, during your tenure there as one of their esteemed firemen. GOD bless!

The building between the depot and the USPS is an apartment building. Also the taqueria restaurant by the gas station is the best. You should definitely stop by and give them a try.

As I go with you on your walks thru this, and many towns, I get a little melancholy thinking about a time gone by. That said, my dad was a life long railroader, and I know he would have enjoyed seeing the old McBee RR depot. Actually seeing anything having to do with railroads would make his day.

100 years from now, someone is going to find out their ancesters lived in McBee and will find this video. They will say "I'm sure glad Timothy filmed this" 😊
