    For me, VAR isnt an issue. VAR has merely acted as a magnifying glass for the true contentious issue which is the rules of the game themselves. Football has always had built into its rules with the degree of subjectivity to the referee. That hasnt changed by adding VAR. There is no mathematical proof to give a foul or not. And with respect to offside, they're just applying the offside rule as it's written and they're applying it the same to all teams. Once again though, there are subjective offsides which nothing can prove definitively.

    He's speaking truthfully from his point of view about the effects of VAR on the game. It's called the beautiful game for a reason, the game flows and allows for the free expression of natural skill with two feet. People don't seem to realise comparing it to rugby and American football or others sports makes little sense, these sports have always had pauses and resets in play. Football is a free flowing game, eventually the introduction of referees on mic explaining decisions on the pitch will slowly diminish the beauty of the game and its appeal.

  • @87togabito
    @87togabito Před 24 dny

    And why is that a problem? You are there to ensure that players STICK to the rules. If you cannot give completely machine like accuracy, then step aside and let a machine do it.
    We only had referees in the past because we didn’t have a better alternative. Now, we have VAR, so your job is just to be a on site person to direct the game via the analysis made by VAR.
