  • You can order an M-4 Mango, Tree, or Budwood from www.tropicalac...
    Here is what their website has to say about the M-4 Mango
    This mango was a Keitt seedling from the breeding program of Gary Zill in Boynton Beach, FL. Gary was its likely pollen parent.
    The fruit has a strong delicious flavor belonging to the coconut group. It is round in shape, medium-sized with a light-colored, soft fiberless flesh. The seed is small and polyembryonic. The tree is a moderately vigorous, spreading grower.
    The original tree is a heavy producer for some years but has been an alternate bearer, and until recently there have been no other producing trees to observe. We have several producing trees now and while we love the flavor of the M-4, we have already observed that the fruit is at least somewhat prone to bacterial black spot and rot, perhaps signfiicantly so. We will continue to evaluate it going forward but are reluctant to add more of them to our program at the moment.
    It is a very late season, ripening from August through September.
    Flavor: Coconut
    Country: Florida - USA

    It's a good mango. But for the past four years my coconut cream mango trees have been producing excellent mangos. Just had one today.

    I just received (2) 3 gallon m-4s based on Alex's recommendation. My 12 year old coconut creme has been consistently producing mango since switching to homemade fish emulsion. I also put a tarp under the tree to deprive it of rain starting in late September. This approach seems to be working for me and I have set about 60 mangoes this year.

    most nurseries continue to sell the regular "boring" Mangoes instead of these newer varieties and big box stores like Lowes and Home Depot which used to carry a number of varieties, rarely carry Mangoes now. Makes no sense

    • @FruitfulTrees
      @FruitfulTrees  Před rokem +1

      agreed but i think in the future that may change. I think they will start selling the ones with the best names to try to get people to buy them.

      Home Depot and Lowes do not pay well for their plants. Plant materials are purchased through brokers. Mango trees 🌳 are in such high demand, growers aren't selling to those brokers.
