  • One of the questions we get asked often is 'What varieties of mango are best for small spaces?' There are a number of dwarf and semi-dwarf mango varieties! In this video, Chris highlights her 12 mango variety recommendations for small spaces.
    We have made mango variety videos for eight of the twelve mentioned in this video. The links follow:

    Wow! Glad i found your channel. My name is John and I'm a born and raised conch from marathon. And i love mangos! I used to have guava, avacados, sugar apples, key lime, sour oranges, bananas, and one mango trees! Have no idea what kind of mango tree it was my dad planted it. And it was his favorite. He passed away in 2013. And now after this hurricane all my trees are gone! So now i have to start from scratch so I'm going to dedicate the new garden to him so nothing but mangos and i want variety! I think your vids are going to help me alot! Thanks! Maybe I'll plant some key lime too

Plz tell me space required between dwarf mango tree

    • @TrulyTropical
      @TrulyTropical  Před 5 lety +2

      Spacing will depend on how much you prune them. If you prune often, you can space as close as 2 meters. Often people want the trees to grow bigger, so they plant them further apart. It seems that you could have all your plants in one row.

    My Mallika was doing well in its pot through the winter here in Kentucky.
    When the weather was warm enough I set it outside. Over a few weeks it dropped all of its leaves. The leaves turned dark and slowly dropped off.
    The bottom below the first branching seems alive but above it appears dead.
    Should I cut it back at the branching site and hope it puts out more leaves or is there anything I can do to save it?

    Ur doing a great job, could u plz tell me spacing between 2 Kent mango tree grafted on standard root stock, is 5 metre spacing is ok,

    • @TrulyTropical
      @TrulyTropical  Před 5 lety +2

      Spacing depends on how large you will let the Kent mango trees get. There are people (and groves) that do ultra high density planting with mango trees spaced 2 meters apart. But to do that, you would have to trim your trees early and often to keep them small. 'Kent' is one of the larger varieties of mango trees.
      The mango trees in our grove are spaced about 6-7 meters apart. We keep our trees about 3-4.5 meters tall.

      Best fruit producing mango trees need pruning. They respond to pruning. Most mango trees get large with age. Even those described as "small" can become 30+ ft trees with time. Julie does stay small in Florida, grows to 30 ft in Jamaica 🇯🇲
