And the Very respectable Maithreyan, self admittedly a" non- scientist" is giving us " his own take" on the current scientific knowledge and its implications . On this particular subject, I have to say that Vaishakan's views carry more " weight " than those of the very respectable Maithreyan 's !
I think Maitreyan has the valid point out there. You need to understand what he is saying. All measurements and laws of Physics is a kind of calculations made from the observable Universe which may change any moment.

In my opinion, one thing Maitreyan fails to see in this conversation is that the universe is, in a sense, fine-tuned to have everything we observe in it, be it nuclear fusion or life. Just because a universe exists infinitely in time, in one from or another, doesn't necessarily mean that it'll have the right conditions for life in some period of time. Physicists don't have a good answer (I think) for why the universe is so good for life. This is one area where multiverse theories make some sense. Just like there are different planets with different temperature ranges, atmospheric compositions, etc, there could be different universes with different values for physical constants and just like we find ourselves in a planet which is compatible with life, we find our universe to have the necessary conditions for life. This concept of multiverse isn't entirely analogous to biological evolution by natural selection where the organisms which are bitter fit to survive in the environment are more likely to pass on it's genes. Here a universe may not necessarily be "fitter" than another. Just that life only forms in a universe which has physical laws and constants which can lead to the formation of life. So we, unfortunately can only observe this universe compatible with life even though other universes incompatible with life maybe coexisting.

I like this topic very much. If zero is the starting time point of this universe, then before zero, infinite negative values are there.After zero infinite positive values are there. I agree with Mythreyan. ' UNIVERSE IS WHAT EXISTS'. Energy and matter is infinity, Space is infinity, Time is infinity. Matter and space is visible, but time is not visible. But we can understand it. Without, mathematics, there is no time. It doesn't mean time is maths. Can we see 1,2,3 numbers. We can understand it. Nothing is started. Universe is what is existing. Universe does not have a starting point. If universe is finite, there may be many thing which are infinite. Example:- infinite amount of universe.

I think the objective of this discussion was to analyze/balance the philosophical (Maitreyan) and scientific (Vaisakhan) views about the universe. Vaisakhan's views were clear and convincing but felt Maitreyan struggled to express his thoughts through the right set of words (articulation was not to the mark). Also evident was the struggle between ego (keep convincing space for philosophy and person speaking about it) and inferiority complex (that he will be challenged with details) in a typical philosophy scholar. The takeaway at least from this episode is that there are more unknown things that need to be explained through our scientific thought and we resort to philosophy to express such unknowns. The holes in philosophy are quite evident in this discussion and felt it is more of a romantic view about the universe that varies from person to person. Overall it was a very good thought exercise and kudos to biju mohan for organizing this.

Matter/ Energy or Nature was in its primordial or elementary form and restricted to a point compared to the infinite expanse of Ishwar. Then Ishwar created the impulse that transformed the Nature into the spatial world that we observe through His omnipotence.

In my opinion, one thing Maitreyan fails to see in this conversation is that the universe is, in a sense, fine-tuned to have everything we observe in it, be it nuclear fusion or life. Just because a universe exists infinitely in time, in one from or another, doesn't necessarily mean that it'll have the right conditions for life in some period of time. Physicists don't have a good answer (I think) for why the universe is so good for life. This is one area where multiverse theories make some sense. Just like there are different planets with different temperature ranges, atmospheric compositions, etc, there could be different universes with different values for physical constants and just like we find ourselves in a planet which is compatible with life, we find our universe to have the necessary conditions for life.
This concept of multiverse isn't entirely analogous to biological evolution by natural selection where the organisms which are bitter fit to survive in the environment are more likely to pass on it's genes. Here a universe may not necessarily be "fitter" than another. Just that life only forms in a universe which has physical laws and constants which can lead to the formation of life. So we, unfortunately can only observe this universe compatible with life even though other universes incompatible with life maybe coexisting.

I think the objective of this discussion was to analyze/balance the philosophical (Maitreyan) and scientific (Vaisakhan) views about the universe. Vaisakhan's views were clear and convincing but felt Maitreyan struggled to express his thoughts through the right set of words (articulation was not to the mark). Also evident was the struggle between ego (keep convincing space for philosophy and person speaking about it) and inferiority complex (that he will be challenged with details) in a typical philosophy scholar. The takeaway at least from this episode is that there are more unknown things that need to be explained through our scientific thought and we resort to philosophy to express such unknowns. The holes in philosophy are quite evident in this discussion and felt it is more of a romantic view about the universe that varies from person to person. Overall it was a very good thought exercise and kudos to biju mohan for organizing this.
