Thanks for the video. Replaced my torque sensor today and bike transformed back to its former glory
Where did you buy the sensor from? I have an m600 motor
Do you have a link?
Thank to your video, I could repair my G510. Thank you very much!
Excellent tutorial
Thank you!
Great video, I would’ve liked to have seen you redistribute some of that grease on the gears.
Great challenge
I didn't know the cause and replaced it with a new G510.
You can repair the old motor and sell it to somebody :)
thanks
Very good explanation of all steps in the process. I dislike my torque sensor, how can I turn off the torque sensor and install a cadence sensor instead? Is this possible?
There is no such a thing as pure cadence sensor for this motor model. Why would you want one? Everybody buy this motor for the torque sensor feature. You can install the throttle, if you don't want to pedal.
Hopefully you didn't forget to re-install the snap ring on to the bb axel on the non drive side.....Also a good grease to use is Corn Head grease if anyone ever takes theirs apart.
I didn't forget it. I had to take some shortcuts during recording of this movie to make it short enough. It's hard to compress couple of hours job to 10 minutes clip.
I would like to see how did you remove the biggest gear from the other side. When I open the motor, the biggest gear is always the other side and seems not easy to remove.
I think you mean stator, not gear. It's possible to buy a new stator, if you need one.
I have an old G510 made in 2016.
Nylon gear broke in half a year after I bought it.
The shop provided reinforced nylon gear.
I exchanged it myself.
My G510 was coated with black molybdenum grease.
The current G510 has changed to yellow lithium grease.
Do you not fill the G510 with a large amount of red mobile grease like everyone else?
I use grease that is available in my local shop. I have both black and yellow lithium grease versions. The difference between both them is very small. What I read on information stickers (that may differ between producers), the black one can tolerate slightly higher temperatures. What I mean slightly is around 20 C degrees difference. Not much.
Nice looking, compact Unit with all the essentials in the one module.I don't see any seals on the bearings, does the motor have an IP code?
You can check it on Bafang website. All electric motors for bikes are waterproof to certain degree. If they were not, you would not be able to ride outdoors.
@@LierskogenEbikes Will do. Thanks.
How do you think which engine is better or the quality to handle high power G510 or BBSHD
I'm a big fan of all motors with torque sensor, therefore Ultra is much better motor in my opinion.
Great video thank you much,
Just a thought is there no gasket that needs to be put in between the engine case when you are reinstalling ?
Just curious, literally
There is a gasket between motor blocks. You can see it in the movie.
Yep, the gasket can be seen here 12:59. Personally, I would have used gasket compound as well. It can have a tendency to be a bit messy but it works wonders in sealing the joint.
Yes I do see it now, it was just a question never to criticize because the video was great and it's nice to see the internals at that level, I got a new prescription going in next month, better eyes, thank you for the heads up and responds as well 👍
@@prostreet9149 Yep, I thought the video very informative. I have a Rize RX Pro on order so I have a vested interest in learning to strip this motor.
Great video. Had same issue with mine, despite being a 2021 model bought directly from Bafang itself and having done only 1,000 km with it and used for 6 months.
I am pretty sure this is the torque sensor as when connected via bluetooth to the bike and reading the various settings, the value displayed by the Torque sensor is "0" whereas it used to display a value even without any force applied to the pedal. Or maybe is it just a connection issue?
Anyway, How come these torque Sensors fail after so little use? Hey Bafang, what is going on???
Yep. Checking torque sensor readings in Bafang motor application is very good tool to identify problems with torque sensor. Something is wrong with design of the strain gauge on the axle.
Thanks, but then does it mean having a M620 implies buying a USD 100 torque sensor every 6 month or every 1000Km? This would be ridiculous and would show how bad Bafang reputation should be. I have reached out to Robin at Bafang (part of the sales team) and will let you know what his reply is to my email asking him what to do.
@@gvanrenterghem I don't think torque sensor brakes so frequently. It's just bad luck when it stop working. Strain gauges are very sensitive devices and they may loose their precision over time. You are lucky, if you can replace motor axle under warranty. No need to replace whole motor.
In run a tuned M600 and I want to Make my M600 Capable of Executing a Crank Flip by reducing the resistance on the back peddle. But Can't find anyone who knows which bearings to replace.
Kinda expected you to repair the sensor, not swap it out for a new one. Those things are expensive.
Hi there. Recently I have fitted brand new m620, during the test ride motor cuts out the power intermittent at about 10-15mph, checked with new battery, harness wire, disconnect all sensors, changed the settings but the fault still exist. Do you think is the torque sensor? Regards
Hi. With faulty torque sensor, motor will not work at all, not just intermittent problems. You can connect gas throttle to test motor behaviour, if you have 4 leads cable. If you don't have it, it's easy to buy them from Internet ebike shops. Check how big amperage have your battery BMS. If it's below 30A, than you will have intermittent power cuts.
Thanks for your reply. The motor performance fine on the throttle only the problem is just the PAS, if this isn't the torque sensor probably is the controller. Never have had this problem on the brand new motor. Regards
@@ProEbike2 Than the problem is with torque sensor or motor controller (my bet is controller fault). Replace the motor with new one on warranty, if possible.
Supplier / Bafang has promised to send me a new motor without any evidence, just my description of fault cosed, really happy with that solution. I'm still planning to fix the motor anyway. Do you know where I can get a replacement parts as torque sensor or controller?
@@ProEbike2GreenBikeKit shop have all spare parts. www.greenbikekit.com/bafang-8fun-spare-parts.html
I have also intermitting motor support. After every 2 seconds the motor support cuts out for the blink of an eye. All the exterior sensors and cables seem to be alright. Have tested it with a second motor. I have fried my controller because of voltage peak. Is it possible that a voltage peak have fried my torque sensor too?
Most probably yes. I fried once ASI controller by trying to integrate stopping lights signal with brakes signal. All components (except display) connected to controller were fried as well.
@@LierskogenEbikes I have solved the issue! I had sliced the insulation one of the motor cables. The naked wire touched the motor housing inside. After insulating the cable the issue was gone!
Great video !! Do you know what kind signal make this torque sensor?
No idea, sorry.
@@LierskogenEbikes could you check it?
I have an m600 motor and I think the torque sensor has gone bad. Where did you get the replacement part for your motor?
You can try with Aliexpress or www.greenbikekit.com/
Hi. How the torque sensor works compared to CYC stealth?
It all depends how you will set the sensitivity and many other parameters. You can tune yourself torque sensor behaviour, if you have Ultra with UART interface system.
i have a bafang ultra g510/m620 motor here , the issue i am having is it will not spin. it makes a humming noise for a second or two before a clicking noise is heard and the humming stops. i've taken the motor completely apart, tested it while apart, and the motor output gear(little angled one) just vibrates a little instead of spinning. my guess is bad controller. what do you think?
Could be controller or Hall sensors. I bet Hall sensors are faulty.
@@LierskogenEbikes The issue appeared to be caused by grease on the magnetic pickup on the controller opposite of the motor output gear. the issue i am facing now is the motor will only turn in reverse, freewheeling the one way bearing and not turning the chainring. ever heard of that?
@@bmxscape Sounds like phase wires are not connected in correct order.
@@LierskogenEbikes They are indeed
I think I have the same issue. Do you know where I could get this part in the UK?
I ordered this axle from Hong Kong. Look for GreenBikeKit shop.
@@LierskogenEbikes thanks. I’m hoping I’ll get mine sorted under warranty but otherwise I’ll be following your video tutorial!
i have problem with Bafang M620 it is new 20 kms i went on a ride all of a sudden no more pedal its like what make wheel turn when pedaling in motor is disconnected could it be clutch ? Thank you for your help
If the chainring do not rotate together with pedals, than your clutch inside the motor is broken. Most probably teeths are broken. Happens often with rear wheel cassette clutch, it's identical mechanism.
@@LierskogenEbikes Chainring rotates with pedals i think now is rear freehub because when i turn wheel no clicking . When i try to turn cassette counterclockwise does not turn . Do you think it is that? rear wheel clutch ? is that fixable sometimes? or need new wheel .Tnank you
Hmm, interesting how all those cables just mash with all those cogs.
Hello friend, where do you understand the piece?
Hi, I don't understand your question.
@@LierskogenEbikes Where you bought the piece, it is very difficult to find, I would like to know where you found or bought the sensor
@@danteaguilarmunoz7955 www.greenbikekit.com/bafang-8fun-spare-parts/ultra-g510-mid-motor-parts/bafang-ultra-motor-torque-sensor-m620.html
How did it become broken?
Sensor somehow stopped working all together. But I noticed earlier that motor was having delayed reaction for pedalling. Purely electronics problem, there is no visible mechanical damage anywhere.
@@LierskogenEbikes same for me
where is the motor temp sensor?
There might be a temp sensor built in controller, but you can't get any information about it on the display.
You failed to show the viewer how to transfer the gears to the other side of the case and install the clutch. This is critical and you cut it out because you didn’t know what you were doing. Viewers who relying on this video will be lost.
