I totally believe in this , they force you to learn their name , places they belong to , want you to send them requests on social media , once one of them shouted cause i wished Good morning at 12:00 pm instead of good afternoon , they have soo much ego and even college staff supports them when you complain about all those hostel seens !

+ usually such people avoid woman but can also target them . By electronics or social media .
+ To make sure you are hurting no good person u can always give a warning .
+ You can talk to your dean , higher officials or even police if you fail to make any changes .

+ In my college they had grouped up and stayed with him and wasn't letting the victim contact his family . But he finally got out and the day he was out , such intense action was taken against the bullies that only god knows .

I always believed this that the ragging/oppression happens because we tend to give in for it at some or the other level due to fear,pear pressure etc. If we stand for ourselves and take strong measures against such acts then such things can always be avoided. Thank you for the reconfirmation dude !

I'm a newbie and i was going through random youtube videos on ragging. I was taken aback when a lot of medical students promoted ragging calling it as "personality development programs". I felt heartbroken seeing them lose their sense of maturity. But, now i feel healed again seeing that beautiful souls like "you" also exist on our planet. You're such a sweetheart. Di,same here,I wholeheartedly applaud you for the stand that you took so bravely.This will encourage other people to stand for themselves as well. I was seriously shocked as to how similar these incidents are. There is a lot more bullshit that goes around from forcefully following all seniors in social media,to memorising everyone's name and being able to recognise them,and what happens in the hostel rooms is separate thing. I ultimately left the hostel to do away with this toxicity as seriously all attempts to change the scenario in such an ecosystem is absolutely useless. The message that you have delivered is really so needed. I pray to Shiva that people like you excel,reach the highest peak and most importantly stay happy in their life.

Every course is designed so that you don't need any help from your seniors. The seniors are also just students and know nothing about actually working in the field.

1 suspended for 2 years, 1 for 1 year and rest 2 student for a month in Narendra Modi Medical college Gujarat for ragging 4 junior resident doctor last week, parents and students must complain ragging !!

Didi i would like to appreciate your efforts. Students should be aware about these things and they shouldn't take such bullshit from shitty people .
Students have the fear that they will not be able to pass the sems without them. Such misconceptions are needed to be cleared out to create a good environment for the new comers.
I will explain you the concept behind ragging:
Basically no one is born to rag or hurt any of his juniors.
Its just that it becomes a chain from seniors to freshers.
The senior who is ragging his junior, has himself faced ragging while he once was a junior.
But he couldn't do anything about it because there are 2nd years,3rd years,4th years above him who will threaten him if he complains to the college dean.
Seniors also threaten him to leave hostel if he doesn't like ragging.
Its very difficult situation for a 18yr old middle class boy who is just into mbbs and had no idea as everything is new for him.
And once this junior becomes a senior he psychologically feels superior and simply can't handle his newly joined junior not getting abused or ragged.
He vents out his old frustration on junior.
Its human psychology right?How will you stay calm when you are being ragged and your juniors shouldn't be ragged.
Now tell me what should one do??
If u still want clarification just wait and watch you fellow male batchmates once they become seniors will rag their new juniors.
Agree totally. It takes a lot of mental courage to not fall for the trap and break the chain. There are people who do that. If you're frustrated that someone wronged you, the best revenge is to try correcting the system, not to carry ut through :)

1. This culture is not very cool. I understand but, people who normally join mbbs are between the age group of 17-20 yrs , which I believe is a very fragile age group. You stood up for urself . Thats good because you could identify the threat in that interaction and you clearly tackled it very maturely.
But a student who is not as mature/confident as you are since you have had your experience in dealing with people , right. They fall for it and thats it the person is scarred and he is on the road of becoming worse. This is a case with 50 percent of people. But its not like that every time.
2. Let me tell you What i have learned from my mbbs experience. Seniors throw shit. A lot of shit. I know. I have faced a hell lot more than this, but few of my seniors also showed us the kindness and care we deserved and that is the part bullies miss. They don’t make up for it. They just go overboard with it. Thats not how it should be. Because we obeyed their orders and gave ourselves away, is this the reason for their kindness? I guess, No.
This kind of interaction shows a lot about you. how u deal with uncertainties, insults, and all the shit you can imagine. This profession is not a fairy tale. What about those senior doctors/consultants/ professors who would question your competence, skills, behaviour in a very derogatory way which u cant even imagine of. They will not care about it. You will have immense sense of incompetence. And You wont be able to say even a single word of self defence to him/her. You cant deny this fact that these people exist. They do and this does not mean they are bad. Im not saying become like them but ất least learn to tolerate to a certain extent.
Thats when this habit of taking shit comes into play because you know that Dr is just like a senior you had in your med school.
3. Im not saying i support extreme bullying or extreme ragging but the culture of intolerance is just not going to help everybody. People like you can easily deal with it and will continue to deal with it because again you had your experience. And some have the intrinsic ability to do it. Thats great.
Let kids oppose unjust things but don’t make them intolerant. It would harm their future.
I have literally seen few of my colleagues going into depression post mbbs because they don’t feel like they know how to deal with this toxicity. This toxicity is unfortunately inevitable. At least make yourself strong. And so strong that you can identify what are the limits of your tolerance. And when you have to go against it.
This profession demands grit and perseverance. There is long academic career ahead of you. Good luck for that.
