Proud modern cowboy I may wear snap shirts but really appreciate you fellers keeping the cowboy as know alive
Cheers
Thank you. As you may have seen in some intros, I wear snap button cowboy shirts too, when I'm not doing the historical stuff. Keepin' it real!
Would love to see Santee doing a review of Cowboy Bebop
@Clayton Elijah no not really my bot brother
🤣🤣
Yeah that’s a no from me and probably everyone else
@@xXViper-9Xx yup
There used to be a band here in Toronto called the Bebop Cowboys. They played some great stuff!
Cowboys worked hard and also wanted to look sharp. What a cowboy wore mostly was functional. LOVE the channel. Thanks guys.
How interesting it is that despite the distance, our version of the cowboy here in Australia looked much the same. We tend to call our modern cowboys Jackaroos (or Jillaroos for females). Thanks for this videom
Very similar.
Could you guys do a video on cigars in the old west.
I did one on tobacco and touched on cigars...but would be happy to do one on just cigars.
We found him boys it's him
Can you do an episode on Mexican bandits, you know Pancho Villas boys?
This is really cool man, thank you for effort, energy, and historic accuracy
My pleasure!
A picture is worth a thousand words. I love the historical Old West pictures. Thumbs up on this one Santee.
It's interesting! The photos tell us so much.
When I drove truck, I always gave myself extra time to visit the Luchesse outlet in El Paso & all the other western shops in the U.S. I still have a dozen or so Wahmaker shirts & even a duster. I'm probably the only Bostonian that loves cowboy boots & the entire western culture that's so unique to our country. Always a big thank you to the Arizona Ghostriders for keeping that spirit alive & your special brand of humor.
Watching this so my Arthur can be as authentic as possible in RDR2 (I know, I know, I'm "that guy.")
The fact that you want him to be accurate means you have an interest in history. Bravo!
@@ArizonaGhostriders Hey! If you are takint more suggestions, a dressing the part video involving colors in clothing would be really cool and useful to see! What was popular/common or just outright not a thing or shunned upon. Did they share our modern thought of men not wearing much brighter colors?
“Yeah that’s KINDA Johns line.” 😂
🤠
Most cowboys would’ve worn vests pants and shirt and a standard jacket either an old cheap suit jacket or long coat to protect them in the heat. If they were near deserts
Correct!
Tired hungry thirsty ragged but brave as hell😅😅😅😅
Yup
This is quickly becoming my favorite CZcams channel. Keep up the outstanding content, partner!
Wow, thanks!
At 3:59 I swear that same Range Coat/Duster jacket is in Red Dead Redemption 2 this Buckaroo Bobbins is way too accurate lmao
Learned a lot in this video. Cowboys did want to look stylish. And clean. Thanks for sharing 🤠🌵
Our pleasure!
I watch everyday on tv Cheyenne and Have Gun Will Travel.....at 64 yo it brings me back to my childhood and a better time in this country
I'm glad you watch those shows. I love 'em too.
Quick note on pants. Rest asured that if you see a belt holding some pants, there must be (likely, manually added) loops for it to be able to work (just like period braces NEED buttons, which modern pants lack and we brace users need to sew in place). *Bottom line: if you INSIST in wearing belted pants with a cowboy outfit, you better have hand-sewn belt loops.*
Good point. Can't tell on the feller in the video. I have worn a belt to hold up my pants without loops and it works on a basic level. Gets the job done, as it were.
Great show as always, very educational and fun to boot (no pun intended).
HA! I appreciate your continued support.
Ordered a shirt from Buckaroo Bobbins just yesterday, I’m very excited
Cool!
Already went through most of your older work and didn't want to miss anything new, subbed.
Thanks again, enjoy the rest of your week.
Thank you too
Interesting and entertaining as always! Thank you!
Thank you!
SANTEE LET'S GET THIS STRAIGHT.
THAT STRING AROUND THE COWBOY HAT IS NOT A BONNET STRING,
IT'S CALLED A
STAMPEDE ROPE OR
"" "" "" "" " STRING!!!
I'M WATCHING YOU GUYS SANTEE,
LOVE YA GUYS!!
Santee, the hat you wear for “closing arguments” there is my ding-dang number one fave. Nice lid, pard.
Thanks!
Many Cowboys were missing fingers or parts of fingers. This happened when they took a dally around the pommel and got a finger in the way of the rope. The steer would hit the end of the rope and the rope would pop off the finger. Sometimes more than one.
That's interesting
Just discovered your channel and am really enjoying it. Keep up the good work!
Thank you, Matthew! Welcome.
Another great video! I love your video editing and effects. They are top shelf my friend!
Thank you Sandra!
I love it! This is perfect timing... I just saw a bib-front shirt that I like, but didn’t know if it was historically correct. Now I do! Thanks, Santee!
Wear it with pride, Winegar!
Thanks santee I love the knowledge and historical facts you provide the videos are just plain awesome
Thank you, Elvis!
Hey, a scene from "Rustler's Rhapsody"! My favorite Western!
One of them, at least.
It's up there with "Big Jake"...
Wonderful movie.
Man, you guys are informative and funny as all hell!
Really appreciate that! Thank you.
Witty, entertaining and informative. As usual.
Thanks Folks
Merry Christmas
Great show as always!!!
Thanks!
Great video as always Santee! How about dressing the part, the cowgirl?
You better hang on to your lines, seems everyone is quick to grab em from ya. 😜
Planning on it. Gonna find a reenactor lady who can tell us all the history and interview her!
Y’all make me smile. Keep it up.
OK!
Santee, I really enjoyed the video and found it very informative. Thank you.
Great informative episode. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks a bunch!
THE COWBOY EVERYBODY'S WANTTA BEE. THE AMERICAN IDOL. TOUGH AS NAILS,
RIDES HARD, SHOOTS STRAIGHT, AND ALWAYS GETS THE GIRL.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP???
A COWBOY OF COURSE!!!!!
THE AMERICAN
LEGEND!!!
YEEE HAAA
GETTY UP GO!!!!
Yessir!
Very useful for my upcoming cosplay level cowboy Halloween costume
Glad I could help!
I'm from the South of Mexico and i love the Old West, your videos are awesome!
Thank you!
Great video and looks like you had a ball as usual, hiding the great effort needed to produce ,Thanks Santee
Your welcome, Vic. Yeah...a lot of effort!
beautiful great info about all pocket watch and cowboys too
Thanks!
Another great episode Santee. Thanks for the infotainment Pard.
You got it, Jed!
Another great video! Thanks.
You're welcome!
Um I’m a kid and 9 years old and I used to be a cowboy and now I’m a mountain man but I’m sure not for long
Well, Andrew, if you want any historical info to help you, lemme know!
12 Gage well now I guess he’s 11
I’m nine too
@@ChapoChaos I guess he’s 13 now
What are you now 🤨
Personally I like to play a cowboy with a outfit that looks more thrown together. A burgundy bib shirt with a double breast canvas vest and a walnut duster with brown trousers, A blue pin stripe appaloosa shirt with navy striped suspenders and black trousers, etc. Mostly cause that my character. I see myself as this cowboy literally taking what he can get, rather it be buying or taking the stuff from someone I killed, and creating some semblance of a outfit.
Cool. Cowboys wouldn't kill folks and take their clothes, anyway. Those would be desperados.
That's my line LOL! Great history on the cowboy threads :)
Hehehe.
Man im way behind on vids lol really enjoyed this one thx santee 👍👍
Very nice! Thank you Santee!
You're welcome HP!
Another great video. When I do Western I use parts of my Reb uniform. I have also done Halloween costume with the tied down pistols over modern wranglers and shirt with my vest and slouch hat. Turned out good.
That can work. A lot of cowboys used parts of their Civil War outfits at first cause that's all they had!
Well done ! Santee
great vid, happen onto this channel while looking up other things
Thanks!
Yes!!! I love your videos Santee... I watch them every saturday, when I take a bath!! Hardy har har... Keep making awesome videos and most importantly I'll see ya on down the trail sometime.
Thanks Morgan. I guess that means I have "clean" humor!
I meant That I watch them when its Saturday Night!! Which in the old west would be for bathing.
True. But probably only once a month...
Thank you for an informative video.
You're welcome!
Yes sir, YIPPEE YI AAYYYY!!!!!!!!! HHEEE. HHAAWWW!!!! More please, ✌️😊☺️🤠😉😉!!!
🤠 thanks!
Greetings from Ireland. Great video as always.
Much appreciated Bernard!
Would love to see a Dressing the Part: Telegraphers & Union Pacific employees. You know, those guys in the booth next to the train tracks in the old movies. Usually had a pocket watch and ran back into town to warn the sheriff about the scoundrels and outlaws coming from out yonder...
I just might do that.
Great share. See ya on down the trail. Thank you friend.
You're welcome Belle!
Arizona Ghostriders 💌📫👗
I enjoy all your top quality productions...you should do a cable channel show...I would watch.
Great video sir....
Much appreciated!
Forgot overalls were very popular and that the reason for vests popularity was that pants didn't always have pockets and the ones that did were shallow
I will do one on overalls, but I have yet to find photos or documentation about cowboys wearing them.
Thanks for researching Santee.
My pleasure!
I'm doing some research for a costume volunteer group; we don't have a lot of Marvel villains, so I was doing work to see how I could retool Mysterio since I found out that there was a Spider-Man in the Wild West.
This helped to give me some background for a bit of accuracy, but that fishbowl helmet will be the real challenge. Thanks much! 🤣
Whatever works.
so happy I found your channel I subbed before watching 5 secs of this video!
also when did Levi's make there debut?
@@seanslife8801 Thanks for subbing. 1873!
great vid this morning Cheese! What say we all chip in and get one of those "Back to the Future" outfits for Dirty Dan.... seeing him in red pants and a corn cob pipe would ABSOLUTLEY make my Saturday morning ha ha ha :-)
I tried, Joe. He won't do it. Damn!
These videos are super helpful im making a character and trying to make it as historically accurate as possible
Glad to hear it!
Very informative and entertaining
Thank you!
Wonderful!!!!
Much appreciated!
I wear a vest most of the time! Boots he’s, spurs no! Cool video
Cool!
You forgot jackets (fringe) my favorite, like my other obsessions got quite a few. But as always great job. Love my History.👍🏼🤠
I didn't mention jackets, true. I will in future episodes.
Arizona Ghostriders not complaining, love your vid’s, always do. You make Historical facts fun. (Bit of a History buff myself) like that someone makes it fun to learn, get he younger generation wanting to learn which is always good, keep it up 👍🏼👍🏼👌🏻🤠
Hey Santee, can you do a video on the Undertakers of the old west
Good stuff!
Thanks!
rdr2 just woke up my internal cb
Saaame
Ur editing is on point
Thanks...I have a good time doing it.
Adoro filmes dessa época!
Eu também!
@@ArizonaGhostriders aonde moro praticamente vivemos no estilo ceculo 19. Poucas coisas modernas. Roça mesmo! Interior afastado das capitais" aqui aonde moro tem 9 mil abtantes e só no começo do ano já mataram 4 pessoas aqui...
Great video
Great video. Lots of research must’ve went into it.
Over the years...a lot!
Just the video I was looking for to make my red dead redemption outfits
Cool!
I think all western movies and tv shows before the 1970s used modern cowboy threads to represent what was really worn. Even movies of the Silent Era. Never seen any Matt Dillon hats in photos from the 1870s. I didn't know about the "one size fits all" shirts! Explains the unkempt look we always see in the photos of the day.
Yeah, a lot of those background actors back in the 40s and 50s were actual cowboys.
Awesomw,Santee. Cowboy clothing first needed to be functional.
Absolutely.
I saw ‘Hostiles’ the other night. Decent western. Wish more high quality westerns were made nowadays. A lot of the old ones are great also. Have you guys ever done a video on what you and your posse’s favorite westerns are?
No we haven't. That's a stellar idea, Soylent. Hmmmm....lemme work on that.
In the Great Basin,,we also refer to them,as Strangle strings..Suspenders,,will get you hung up and in a wreck..
HAHA! Awesome info. Thanks.
Would be fun to see you do a story on how cowboys make coffee on the
And a different type of food that carry the Chuck wagon
And how they a different meals on the trail
Did one on coffee. Did one on the Chuckwagon. Will do one on meals for the future. Thanks.
I love dirty Dan awesome awesome video like always buddy much love Santee
Santee you do a video on dressing the part the hangman and what tools he used as a hangman
Yes. I am going to do a profile on George Maledon and will go into detail. In the meantime, have you seen this one? czcams.com/video/8dIccMVszsU/video.html
Love the pants
Cool!
@@ArizonaGhostriders love frontier classic work pants
Nice video but now I have a dad humor overdose. 😂😅
Glad we made you laugh.
I actually like and enjoy this here channel. Normally, I dress like the Hollywood Westerns mostly from the Golden Age (1950s and 1960s) as well as Italian Westerns from the mid-1960s right up to the early 1970s. Currently, I am enjoying the modern Westerns (the masterpieces, the stinkers and the underdogs) as I am currently working on a few characters reminiscent of the mythical and cinematic genre.
I have created several Western characters in the past and I can name a few; Jon Dunston, Randolph Newell, Brad Wade, Rocky Rhodes and two new characters I just came up - Jordan Cosgrove the Paranormal Gunslinger and Charlie Reaper the Purgatory Kid.
I live for the retro-nostalgic stuff as well as the historical period-accurate clothing. When I saw the highlight around the belt, I was amazed and I decided to incorporate it into my next character which is a secret for now. All the same, I still love your work and research into the Old West - keep it up, please do!
Thank you!
@@ArizonaGhostriders Your welcome, Sir.
I sure like your videos
Thank you!
I've Always Loved me Sundown.
OK!
showing some love...thumbs up! xoxo
I appreciate that!
I realized that I've only bought cowboy guns and now that I got my heritage rough Rider I really got inspired by "cowboys" and I'm planning to get a historically accurate legit costume
So cool. Congrats!
Hey Santee I noticed that when your modeling the bandana, you have an awesome blue and white striped long-sleeved shirt and was really wondering where I could get one just like it?? I just got my new old West trousers and suspenders in the mail from wwmerc and love them to death, even though they’re only a few days old. I love your videos and as always I’ll see you on down the trail, Morgan T.
Well the shirt in the sequence where I am modeling the bandana is actually a tan and black striped shirt from Scully. The one in the end of the video is a striped Frontier Classics bib shirt. From my knowledge they are both still made and available through WWMERC.com
Have you done a video on old west sodas?
Sully makes some nice era correct shirts.
Scully does. Kinda pricey, but well made.
I would like to star in one of your videos or skits!! Should be fun!!
You're welcome anytime!
I I shop at a store in Fort Worth Texas historical Stock Yards call Texas Legends they sell reenactment clothes and. Correct attire I recently bought a pair of black canvas pants with suspenders and a brown canvas vest
Do you know David McKnight and Pat Ira Neff?
No I don't well I might I'm not good with names I'm better with faces I know a couple of guys that do the daily cattle drive at 11:30 and 4 I haven't met any of the reenactors they do the gun fights on Saturdays but I'm better with names though
aw that's ok. They perform there. I would like to go one day and see their shows....then shop in that store you're talking about!
Great video!
Can you do women clothing in the old west like shirts, vest, skirts, pants and so on?
Yes I can
@@ArizonaGhostriders Hey Thanks!
What about the women of the west! I'm sure gudles and corsets helped with riding posture.
Yes. As soon as COVID is "over" I can meet up and interview a few ladies.
