Say a little thanks to Gudy Gaskell whose hard work, determination and persistence brought the Colorado Trail to life. It was her dream. I hiked those years that she was lobbing for trail funds, pestering politicianss and government officals to make her dream come true. She is smiling down on you guys taking in the wonders of the trail. It is a spiritual experience.
"Group of guys, group of co-workers, group of friends, very lucky for that" Yes you are! Great video!
That one dude’s backpack 😂. Great work guys, really nice storytelling.
Haha yea it was intense to see that dude's bag for sure! Thanks Jeff!
Northville Placid Trail, Adirondacks - in the great state of New York!
Out here in SC everyone talks about how great the low country is. Let me tell you….i miss the high country! So beautiful!
Yes
Gonna need a name for those indestructible sunglasses Tyler has
Yes!
Same
The message to your parents is inspiring. My wife and I are welcoming our first child in July and its a boy. I'm head over heals about it and can't wait to get out there with him.
Awesome video! Looking forward to the section 2 video next year!
My favorite OV tribe video so far!
Well done! Thank you, guys, for this challenge. It's what I needed this year.
What a great, fun video. Thanks for the beautiful views of those mountains!!
Another fantastic trip !
35:00 EXACTLY why we go through Type I, Type II AND Type III fun all at once........
Agreed
Never thought I’d see a backpacking hype movie but this was awesome. Can’t wait to get out for this year’s 100 mile challenge
One of my favorite parts of the Colorado Trail. I did that part a couple of years ago when wildflowers were in full bloom above tree line.
Great video love it thanks guys
Looked like fun!!
This was such a memorable trip!
Boobs?? Did anyone else see them? I'm confused maybe?😮😢
This looks just outstanding! What a beautiful and unique place! Outstanding cinematography guys!
Hi OV Team! This is one of my favorites videos of the CT! I'm going to hike there a week this Summer. Love that Brigham said it made him feel connected to his Maker! Thanks for sharing!
Good luck this summer!!
@@TaysonWhittaker thank you!
Great video! I climbed several of the Colorado 14,000' high peaks back in the early '80s. I'm from near the Adirondacks, but I loved the views and scenery out west!
What an AMAZING experience!!
Yes it was.
Great Video! I’ll be starting from Denver this year.
The big pack part was crazy but that was definitely me for a few years in my hiking career! Now, I cut almost everything I don't use. I try to get rid of cases and put stuff into lighter bags. I even downgraded from a huge camera to a GoPro to cut weight. The GoPro does more than the big camera did anyways. Great video! Lot's of fun!
Thanks for sharing!!
Great video guys! I hiked the CT in 2022. From Denver to Durango took me 21 days with a 4 day break in Salida for my dad's 80th. It rained on me almost every day which kept the temperature much more comfortable for me. Good luck next year on your second section.
I love seeing this I live in Colorado and my and my husbands family hike for hunting and this is the feeling we have lol feeling like you about to get to the top and it just never ends
Bless of you a healthy and long lifieee
I definitely could relate to Tayson cramping up after coming up the Big Step out of Durango. Goodness, that is a LONG uphill. 🙂
Incredible trail! It was great meeting you during the Zion Ultra. I look forward to completing this trail along with the Highline trail over the next two summers.
This is awesome!
Keep Hiking 💪
Thanks
What an awesome adventure! Looks so cool. If you ever need a 5th man, count me in! I just live up the road from you in SLC. You should do another video breaking down your gear and food loadouts.
Inspiring video. You guys are so lucky to have such amazing back country to explore. Natures cathedrals to heal your soul. Reminds me why I do it, must dust off my gear and get walking.
We agree!
Packs that size/weight weren't uncommon up the 90's! Don't miss those low tech days at all.
Ate some craisins out in Moab a few years back and spent the whole night on the can. Totally brutal experience. Great video!
well don't do that again and FYI don't eat more than 2-3 big medjool dates
12:43 I was hiking down this in 1998 when I was passed by a mountain biker. I asked him if he ever worried about going off the trail and falling down the scree slope. He replied "Not until you asked."
Really enjoy your team adventures and narrative. Can’t wait to get back out on the PCT where I had to get off due to Bell’s Palsy. Still not 100% but good to get out there again the end of this month around Julian. Did you guys use the Far Out app and maps?
We didn't, but I would recommend farout!
Yes for those long trails it is a Godsend. The social aspect of it is great when you are wondering about water sources and people post what it’s like recently. Also, the elevation views are helpful, but sometimes discouraging. A far cry from the old green maps we used to use.
Just a note to try LMNT in your water. I think it is the best to help with those cramps. Nice video!
Thanks for the tip!
What app did you use for navigation?
Gonna be hiking about 70 miles of the CT Sobo from Silverton this summer, looking forward to it!
What was the date range you all went? Trying to gauge the snow situation when I'll be there in late July
We were there towards the end of July...I imagine this year there will be significantly less snow so all of July you should be fine imo
@@TaysonWhittaker thank you!
Great vid guys. 2 questions, how much did your packs weigh? And, what were those hoody shirts you guys were wearing?
Thanks! Pack base weight was around 10-12 lbs plus food and and water. So day 1 most of us were about 18-20 lbs and the last day closer to 10-12. The shirts/ hoodies are the OV altitude sun shirts!
Tayson…what backpacks were you guys using??
I have your CS40 these look bigger. Thanks!
We were all just using the CS40!
@@TaysonWhittaker awesome! I love that backpack! Going to have to dial down my gear to make it fit better👍🏻🤗
What is hoodie you guys are wearing on the hike?

That was a wolverine you saw on day 5!
I thought so, too!
Colorado has not had a wolverine population in a long time. I think it was just a marmot
I want to work at Outdoor Vitals! Lol

@TaysonWhittaker Thanks! For shitz and gigz, I had already looked. Someday soon, you'll expand and need a few more and I'll be watching for the listing! Lol. Got OV followed on indeed baby! Ha
The "lite" series of tents from Z Packs just doesn't make any sense to me. Barely any weight savings for a less durable tent floor. Definitely not an upgrade IMO.
Derek’s hair… how is it always so… GQ?
Good Genetics
Those "axolotls" were juvenile tiger salamanders. There is no plan to release axolotls into Colorado alpine lakes
take cardiac salt with you, the potassium is a quick cramp relief.
zzzzz
Good vid but too much talking, need more scenery and quiet time. Just sayin.
Dudes you blast past the people that keep those trails open and say I get paid too….then continue and make fun of dude who’s handling it with huge pack. and continue to talk about your anguish instead of cool plants and shit…
