How to Get 80km on your ZERO 9 and ZERO 8

- We understand the need of our riders sometimes go beyond what our stock models can give. ZERO 8 or ZERO 9 with a standard 13Ah battery can give about 40km per charge. But thats not enough when the rider is on the heavy side and the journey consists of slopes, which typically cuts the range by a third. Or if the ZERO rider wants to take long beachside rides and have a peace of mind that there will be enough juice to return home.
The solution is a 26Ah battery cap, 13 Ah in the deck and 13 Ah outside. How does having a 80km or more range sound to you? Just about right.
Here's a tutorial on how to install the ZERO 8/9 13ah external battery. When you receive the 13ah battery pack, it comes with a waterproof bag that you can strap onto your scooter handlebars, a Y adapter, and the wire harness. This video will teach you how to connect everything together.
To charge, it is best to disconnect the Y adapter and connect the charger to the charging port of the external battery. The internal battery can be charged by itself. When charging, always charge BOTH internal and external batteries to full. That way, both batteries will be balanced without having to use a switch.
For more information on our ZERO External battery packs, please check out www.falconpev....
some says, it needs to match exact voltage on both batteries. otherwise, if it's not balanced, one battery will discharge first while other one still have juice on it. And if that continues, the lower voltage battery will start to damage as it will reach lower than the minimum voltage. The controller or the BMS i think most of them don't have low voltage protection .
Yes Exact or close voltage is best. It will not reach lower than minimum voltage as both batteries in parallel will have the same voltage. So the bms will shut both down once it reaches a certain voltage. Maybe the cheap bms won’t have the cutoff Low voltage protection but our battery packs do have that feature
Yes that will be needed during installation. If there are voltage differences between the 2 batteries, current will flow from higher voltage battery to the lower voltage battery. If the the voltage differences are high enough, it can melt the solder and the wires. But after some period of connecting those 2 batteries, the voltage will level out between them because it is parallel connection. So no need to worry about imbalance.
@@batman_uwu The charge cable on these batteries is separate from the 'battery voltage' cable, however I am not sure how the circuitry works. This vid indicates you need to charge each battery separately as charging one will not charge both batteries, or is this incorrect? It would be great to charge one and have both batteries charge up at the same time.
Thanks 🙏🏻 this is the way you show it us is amazingly organize easy & perfectly connected god bless 🙏🏻
What about extra motors if you made a 3 wheeler do they have a motor controller for that or would the 2 motor controller run more than 2?
For 3 wheeler, if you do rear wheel drive, use a axle drive motor instead of a dual hub.
Can you make video on how zero 8 battery replaced? Zero 9 and 8 are different deck and cable placement.tia
When not using the scooter for over a week so I leave fully charged or at 60% charged,.. I have been told both 🧐🧐
Where do you buy that external battery from and how much?
How does this system guarantee that the one battery doesn't flow into the other when there is a voltage difference between the two battery packs?
in our instruction manual, we always recommend them to be used together at full charge
Where can i get one for the zero 10?
I won't one too...
Mee too
So no switching between batteries ?
13mAh 48v for zero 8 is the only one you have, any larger ones perhaps? Also, I live in EU area and 90€ for shipping when i want to buy it is too much for me, do you have EU distributors with lower shippment cost?
We can do the shipping for about 60 euros
Doesn't having the battery so high on the stem affect steering?
Cy Cyril the battery is very compact and light in this case, so it wouldn’t but you are right if the battery is heavier.
could you make a video on how to install an external battery that has a switch? instead of running the batteries parallel
once you order, you will get that video.
Does it matter if i use 12awg or 14awg? Or mixed?
so the external battery is as same as the original battery?
I have a 2019 Mercane Wide Wheel with 13s6p battery, I’m assuming this kit I can also use for my scooter? Does the extended battery connect via the charge port, and where the original battery is charging/drawing from the external battery?
Can I charge these batteries both external and Internal at the same Charging port?
if the batteries are connected electrically then the charger doesnt care if it's "external" or "internal"
@@Blox117 Thanks for the answer bro.
Where do I purchase this Zero 9 external battery and how much does it cost?
you can get it here: www.falconpev.com.sg/products/external-zero-10x-52v-23-8ah-battery
Will this work on my 11x
Hello, whats the specs of two connectors on the battery? XCT60 or XCT30?
Do you guys have a UK version of the charger and charging port?
The 3 pin? Yes
Hey there! I recently got a second hand Zero 8 (48v - 13Ah) version. What external battery do I need to get? I can see in the video you are using a zero 10x battery pack with the same V-Ah specification. Would it be possible to use this? What other choices do I have for external battery packs for my zero 8?
For zero 8, you have to get the 48V 13Ah external battery
Very informative video from you guys and the demonstration was on point. Please my question is, can this external thing be done to all eléctric scooters or only some of them. Because I got a scooter as a gift and I am planning on doubling the range and i was wondering if it can be done to all scooters or not. Because I see videos of only made on Xiaomi scooters and nothing different. thanks very much and I will welcome reply from anyone who has experience on my question.👍👍👍👍
this can be done on any scooter. Most scooters are pretty much the same in terms of wiring.
@@FalconpevSg thanks very much for the reply I really appreciate it. More videos like this will be welcome all the time
Hi I have Apollo Explore (Zero 10) scooter use cells manufactured by Dynavolt 52V 18.2aH. Does your LG battery work with it without problems?
Yes shouldn’t be an issue
Okay thanks. I have some questions about pouch and wiring. Does it come with the battery and can you send it to Canada?
@@mrbcvan4955 comes with everything and yes we do.
Can you tell me the dimensions of the internal battery?
Sounds like uncle Roger 😂
No it auntie roger
its uncle rogers cousin uncle ben
its uncle rogers cousin uncle ben
how do I know if the external battery is full?
The charger led will turn green
Hello. What if I have an older external battery (both same voltage) but not sure if the cells or BMS are the same, can I still plug them in parallel as you did in this video ? Thank you for your reply 🙏🏻
No, the Voltage must be the same. aH doesn’t matter
Zero 10?
Jalaluden Rakim same step
Hi! Nice video! I am thinking about connecting a solar panel with a voltage regulation to 54V instead of an external battery. Do you think it's a good idea? Thanks!
You mean for charging while riding or not riding?
Thanks, for the fast answer. Thought about both riding and parking. Very few watts panel fixed permanently.
@@davidkuthi2140 it’s not good for the lifespan of the battery to charge and discharge at the same time.
@@FalconpevSg
Ok, thank you very much!
will this battery setup be suitable for zero 10?
Sol-antes Mario cemaro yes suitable too just change the battery bag because the battery is bigger.
So this setup would make it a 48v 26ah right and a 1250watt machine..
Lez Mac 26Ah yes. 1250Wh
hi sir , is it possible for not zero’s Brand? thank you...
100 % Pro I hope the zero brand doesn’t bother you
Falcon PEV no it wasn’t ,, hoping it will use even if not zero brand?
100 % Pro it will work for any brand
Falcon PEV superb🍺
Hey FalconPEV is it possible to “bypass” the external battery? Say that I have the battery installed already but I want to have it disconnect/removed for a couple of trips, then connect it again - without having to go through the trouble of all that cabling. Is this possible?
Robin Barlis hi! Yes it’s plug and play so you only plug it in when you need it
Wow thanks for the fast reply. And great! That’s perfect. So I’ll just need to stow away the batt connector when I won’t use it yeah? A round trip to and from work is just about 10km but with lots of varying slopes so I don’t have much problem with the battery life now. But I would like to go on longer cross-country rides so the external battery seems perfect for this.
Hi I cannot find a video with this setup on my scooter and I am wondering if you could give me advice on if it would work.. I have a kaabo wolf and I have a spare battery so am thinkin of makin good use of it.. proble is internal is 60volts 35amp samsung cells and my extra battery is 60volts 26ah chinese cells.. Will their be a problem setting this up? Also my battery has more than 1 wire and also I think their is 2 controller box inside the deck.. last thing that is different is that their is 2 charge ports on my scooter. Any help would be appreciated cheers..
Hi, thank you for your note. We only do zero scooters with our batteries.
Is there a way to program your zero 9 to not adjust max speed and acceleration undependent of how much energy is left in the battery? Ive noticed my zero 9 loose its power too fast even though the battery is pretty full. I'm ok with less mileage as long as the scooter maintains speed and acceleration
greveeen you need a more powerful battery to maintain a more sustained high line. This external battery will be able to do that for you.
can you teach.me how to connect the y connector i dont get it pls help me how many female or male were i connect the single and were i connect the double connector
Sure email us at sales@falconpev.com.sg
im here in uae i think this is expensive shipping but my electric scooter no same in the video my unit is e10 or mober s10 can you teach me on for y connector
There are so many different cables there and non of them is labeled. Can you provide me the cable diagram for the zero 10x 52v with each cable what is it connected to, PDF or doc please?
You are the manufacturer, so you should have it
Yes! please do email us or whatsapp us for the information. We will provide it to buyers of this item
@@FalconpevSg I did emailed you, asking for the wire diagram for all cables of the z10x 52v, I've been told that you can not provide it, even though you are the manufacturer
@@holidaycountdown496 They are not the manufacturing this scooter. They only putting their brand on it.
Can I do this for the turbo wheel swift? They seem to have the same voltage
OhWhale yes any 48V system
Could this work for the 2022 apollo ghost???
It’s universal
Just have to make sure the connectors are the same
Why does he sound like my trini uncle 🤔
Funny thing, but yesterday i did 58km on 48V 13Ah Zero 9 on one charge, and after some short charges with 5A charger, total mileage per day was 93km.
Kirill Gorodiski wow that’s crazy...I don’t think that’s possible
@@FalconpevSg i had some rides of about 50-54 km before, in hot weather. But this time, despite many hills and offroad (even with a little dirt), the ride was perfectly slow and smooth (15-30 km/h), temperature around 25-30C, my weight around 67kg
Bro, it will not over heat the motor since there are two batteries?
2 batteries will only overheat but not to the extend it will damage the components!
Because the batteries are setup in parallel config and not serial, its the mah that doubles and not the power. Motors still get only 52v of max power, but instead of having a 18mah pack that will last lets say 40 miles, you have 36mah of charge to double the run time.

is this also applicable to zero8 v2?
Nairda Rausa-Mag yes works as well
Works with x10 ?
Yes there is the 10X version too
You have a wrong title,Zero 8 is different.
You can use it for any scooter it’s univeral
How much for the external battery?
Charlie Osy which one
For zero 8
Zero 10x 48V 13AH in this video can be installed on zero 8? And how much?
Charlie Osy yes it can. About sgd 450
Why on the Zero10x you put a switch between the 2 batteries and on these you just run them in parallel?
Looking for a battery upgrade for my 10x like this, would love to run dual batteries on my X but that switch setup sucks.
Marc Bibeau we removed the switches on both the zero 9 and zero 10X ext batteries so now they are all parallel.
Falcon PEV is it possible to purchase the wiring only? You site says you can’t ship battery kits by themselves and I already have an Apollo Pro (zero10x) 52v, but I’d like to set this up on my scooter.
Marc Bibeau we can ship whole battery kits now:)
Falcon PEV ordered a kit.
Just a idea here, but could you run the charging wires from one of the 2 charge ports to the external battery ? This way you can just plug in both charger into stock positions instead of using another charge port?
Anyone for 10X??
Cucumber Water yes we do
naah just make different design or models... with good specs.
why all this wiring and bag, just buy 30ah battery and fit it in there and get better range than this 2 batterys
