Hello! Could you make a video on pedals that helps us get vox type sound while playing in other amps? Because most of the the time I can't play on my amp on rehearsal with my band neither when i play live. I need an pre-amp/EQ type of pedal to help me get a similar sound. Thank You!
I love how there is a yourube channel dedicated entirely to my amp :)
Glad you found the channel!
Nah, In glad you made the channel, thanks for your work man!
@@eastyarch4714 My pleasure. Have you seen my tone hacks video yet?
How could i not have :)
Thanks for using my pedals in your videos! Always appreciated! Cheers!
You make stellar pedals, so naturally I want to use them.
Whomever says that it's difficult to find pedals that play nicely with the AC-15 needs to check out this channel.
Thanks Mark! That really is the point of the channel.
To say Vox amps are good with pedals is a stretch. That’s my only criticism. Pedals do work with AC style amps but you really have to find the correct ones.
Your channel is a blessing for a newborn AC15-fan! 🥇✌️🤩
Glad it’s helpful!
That was nice playing. Perfect style to demo those pedals and that AC15 was snarling.
Thanks Rick. I always try and play to what the pedal does best. I don't always pull it off, but I sure try. Cheers
Excellent video, straight to the point with helpful information. Well done and thank you.
My pleasure Bradley! Have you tried any of these pedals? If so, which did you prefer?
Every tone was awesome dude. I think the northern fx secret face was my favorite in this particular video.
𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞! 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥.
love all your vox vids. keep em coming!
More to come! Cheers
Very cool! loved the chords and lic you used to show the green rhino pedal, will have to try it out myself!
Please do! I'm sure you will dig it. Cheers
Isn’t it magic when you can just immediately recreate desirable tones
Great stuff. AC15 user always looking for inspiration. Thanks.
I have over 100 videos in this series, I hope you find it useful! Cheers
My two fave pedals for my AC-15 are the Way Huge Red Llama and the. jRockett Touch OD. The EHX Soul Food is great.
PS- if you want those OCD tones at a easier price point the EHX OD Glove. Fantastic pedal.
Love my Red Llama! Underrated pedal. I’ll have to check out the OD Glove again. Owned one many years ago but never gave it a chance.
I'm going to get shot at dawn for saying this, but the sweetest sound I heard there was direct into the top boost channel with no pedal.
That's a great sound too.
@@TheToneLounge That said Jonathan, you've made several videos demonstrating a wealth of good pedal options for the AC series. If its any help I've pointed several people to your channel on this subject, and Vox amps in general over the last year. I think it makes a huge difference when the guy doing the reviews genuinely believes in the product.
Thanks David! This means a lot. Cheers
Hot Cake, Timmy, Zen Drive, Katana boost. Any Blues Break style pedal and anything Strymon all work just fine.
There are a lot of great choices out there for pedals. I have some personal favorites that I may do a video on very soon.
Thanks for the nice recommendations and ditto demo. Always a joy to watch and listen.
Ha! A Tubescreamer. While many players dislike the TS for a Vox amp, I agree with you that you can use a TS for a bit more grit. I have my TS set at low gain level for my Vox. Works pretty good, imo.
In terms of light overdrives, I’m thinking about a Klon Centaur (clone) or a Timmy (clone). I like the OCD as well.
Thanks!
You should be able to find what you are looking for with this series:

@@TheToneLounge Awesome! Will check it out!
I'm doing a marathon watching your videos, I'm obsessed with good information.
I'm going to talk about my humble rig:
I have two electric guitars and one acoustic guitar.
two transistor amps (Fender Mini Twin 1W and Condor 15GR with fantastic real spring reverb)
one humble Vox nt15h with the original speaker
one little Vox pedalboard ToneLab ST, a Digitech Bad Monkey and a Boss RC3 Loop Station, that's it.
I promise not to make long comments after this one. :-)
Carlos, I love long comments! I read every single comments on this channel. If people weren’t writing on these videos I would feel like I am doing something wrong.
You have a solid rig my friend. You get to make music and enjoy your own creative output. If you look at an amazing drawing, you don’t ask yourself what brand of crayons the artist used, right? So, never feel like you have to diminish yourself as a musician because of the tools you can afford.
How are you liking your Vox amp and multi effect?
@@TheToneLounge Thanks for the reply, yes I am very satisfied with my pedals and my Vox.
I agree with you about the crayons...
The Tube Driver was gorgeous !
It’s a great pedal. Have you seen my other tube pedal demos?
Hey buddy! I really enjoyed your vid and your playing. Love VOX amps! Subbed 👊
Glad you found the channel! Were there any stand out pedals on this list?
@@TheToneLounge Do you know what, I love the tone you get out of the amp without any pedals, but I did like the OCD. Funny enough I owned an OCD before I had a VOX and it didn't do anything for me.
@@CastlesMadeOf... The OCD is considered a "go-to" for many Vox owners. have you checked this video out?
czcams.com/video/7VyhYZps1Bw/video.html
I love the Way Huge Saucy Box with mine.
I have the HC version, I still have to do a demo of it.
@@TheToneLounge You should do that! Mines just a normal I found in a GC used bin and it's become my absolute favorite pedal since, it's basically part of my AC15 anymore lol
I contacted Way Huge and they gave me a bit of history on both versions of the Saucy Box. No wonder they sound great, they are based on their other pedal (Pork Loin) which is based on a pair of Neve BA283 discrete opamp.
great sounds! Digging the tube driver! will there be some boss drive pedals in the future?
𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐁𝐎𝐒𝐒 𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐬. 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬.
@@TheToneLounge great!! please consider ds-1. I know people hate it but you can really work it if you use it as a boost :)
𝙄'𝙡𝙡 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙖 𝙜𝙤.
Love Vox but pedals no you really have to find the sweet spot between master volume gain and volume got rid of it very hard love that tone. Got me a Blackstar mkii 20 watts change out the speaker to a vintage 30 celestion I'm in heaven same tubes as Vox
It's all about what tone you are going for. I love the distortion out of some amps, but not others, in that case I favour pedals.
I can't seem to find Northern FX, their web site seems to be down, looks like some nice pedals, that Treble Booster sounds great. I bet it can do some Brian May or Rory Gallagher if you tweak it just right.
Sadly, Northern FX shut down their operations. Are you in Canada or the US?
@@TheToneLounge US here, pretty easy to get good gear here, locally or mail-order.
Good you mentioned Screaming bird about treble boosters. It really sucks. Hope people will avoid it. :)
Probably THE worse pedal I've ever tried. Not a usable tone in it.
Hey dude, great vid as always. How are you connecting the torpedo captor? Through the external speaker output? I want to use one live, not for silent recording, with my Vox AC10 C1 👍🏼
Yes. I use the external out and send it to the Captor. If I use the extension instead, I can also hear the amp. So for Live, you can use either extension or external as you need.
Awesome, cheers dude. Happy Xmas ✌🏽
@@spanishluis264 Same to you my friend. Cheers
Thanks for using the Fulltone OCD.The guy was exercising this thing called the First Amendment.Just like i am using right now.
People have their own way of seeing this, and it's their right. This is my channel and this is my gear, I make the videos I want. If someone disagrees with that, then there are plenty of other channels that can offer them what they want. I make this about gear, not politics. Cheers
@@TheToneLounge Well said.You are a VOX AC15 man too!Love the videos.Please keep them coming!
I'm a Vox man all around. Have you seen my AC15 series? That's been what I've been doing for the past 2 year, exclusive Vox content.
czcams.com/video/qRFBYM0r7R4/video.html
@@TheToneLounge I sure have!
Awesome. Was the info helpful?
Any fuzzface sounds pretty cool too
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐮𝐳𝐳 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐕𝐨𝐱.
I have a Nobels Odr 1. What drive pedals work well with it? I like the Rc booster and the Barbershop, any recomanations? I use a vox cleanish tone .
It depends on what you are aiming for. I've found the ODR-1 to be a bit bass heavy, so I tend to put a TS or Klon type pedal before it. A simple EQ pedal, like a BOSS GE-7 would also do.
@@TheToneLounge ok, thanks! I have a TS style pedal and it's not really my thing. I mainly play alt rock and alt metal (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Tool).
Will check out a Klone style pedal, not an original though :p
Thanks!!
Can you recommend good pedals( preferably less expensive) for the vox mini super beetle? Thought maybe I'd try the joyo ac tone. Thanks!
I intend to do this for a future video! I’ll keep you posted on that! Cheers
@@TheToneLounge thanks! I'll be looking forward to it.
So... basically you recommend put the Memory Boy for delay in the end of every pedal chain, right ?
Not really. I had just acquired that delay pedal and wanted to use it for this demo. You can do without a delay pedal. It's really down to a matter of preference.
What speaker is in your ac15 ? sounds great
Just the stock Greenback.
Crowther Hotcake
It slays with a Vox.
Caroline Olympia
If David Gilmour and Mick Ronson got together to make a Fuzz for an AC, it'd be this one.
I'm still wanting to buy a Hotcake, none ever pop up for sell in Belgium. I'll have to check out the Caroline Olympia, I've never heard of that one.
@@TheToneLounge
I'm a Kiwi. I can get a Hotcake easy. It comes with your New Zealand passport :P
The Olympia is discontinued. I'll never let go of mine. Björn at Gilmourish and Brett Kingman (formerly PGS) both have excellent demos of the Olympia.
@@mattgilbert7347 I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Hotcake for the last three years. I just want to make a proper video on it and include it in the VFP series once and for all.
Maybe 2022 will be my lucky year?!
@@TheToneLounge
Maybe! I'd sell you mine but it's the only one I have!
They are very common, down here in Australia & NZ. Then again, we get gouged on most everything else:(
Hope you find one.
a nice alternative to the OCD (for folks who like the tone but don't like the man), there's the malaise forever blm drive. they're only available in small batches though and to be honest, I haven't used one (yet, at least) but the builder is a solid dude.
The EHX OD Glove is another great choice.
Dude doesn’t appreciate a hate group smashing up stores and looting so we avoid his stuff? What’s your address bro? I’m “angry” and want a tv
Have you tried the jhs morning glory as a light overdrive? I'm hesitant between it or the lightspeed 🤔🤔🤔
I have not, sorry. My understanding is the the Morning Glory is more of a Bluesbreaker type of sound, while the Lightspeed is more of a "transparent" low gain. If you ask folks on forums or Facebook groups you may find some guidance there.
@@TheToneLounge thanks a lot for answering! I don't know a lot of bluesbreaker overdrives. I tried the soul food and I didn't like it 🤔 but I believe the lightspeed it's not a klon type, isn't it?
Yes, the problem with these really lite neo soul worship type barely overdrives with this amp is this amp has a sound that you have to aggressively counteract a bit to get a good overdrive blues or soft rock tone or to gey different ones at least. The Hot Cake is EQ'd perfectly for this amp. Yea the lightspeed with this amp is trash imho it's more something you'd play into a solid state amp to get a "Neo Soul" tone. You need at the very least a Timmy - don't bother with the hipster barely even overdrive pedals into this amp - its pointless the sound 9d the actual amp is way stronger and will just over power those weak pedals.
With the morning glory it's possible if stacked but its one of the softer blues breaker style pedals. Lightspeed forget it imho unless your stacking 3 overdrives?
@@daigoHR98 For Blues Breakers the Vic Audio Mount Pleasant stacks well into the AC15C1 it has an option to roll off the top end so you don't get chime boost and it stacks well with the Timmy or Hot Cake. This would actually be god like with this amp.
Hi I have the ac15vr would your recommendations be good with this amp or do you have different suggestions cheers
Absolutely! They will all work great with your amp.
@@TheToneLounge cheers my friend I'm a bit of a beginner took up playing last year so not really up to speed with what pedals do what 🎸🎸
That's awesome. Guitar is a fun journey and if you are open to learning new things but never being an expert at any of it, then you've found a great new discipline. If you have any questions, just let me know and I'll do my best to help you out. Cheers
@@TheToneLounge that's great thank you I'm really enjoying learning, I'll give you a shout if I get stuck lol 🎸🎸
Would a big muff go through a Vox nicely?
It depends which version of the BM you are referring too. I have the Way Huge Swollen Pickle and Northern FX Radioactive fuzz, both different takes on two different versions of the BM circuit, and they both sound great. I've heard complaints that the standard EHX Big Muff Pi is not a good fit. I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure.
Sorry for German auto correcture
No worries. I understood what you meant! Cheers
I like Vox but honestly if you're going to use your amp mostly as a pedal slave then I would without a doubt suggest that you buy a Fender Tube Amp whereas Vox compresses drives more than they should be, a Fender Hot Rod gives you the sound of the pedal as it was built. Why do you think that Brian Wampler almost always uses a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe to show you how certain pedals sound. Sometimes he uses his own Wampler amp which is built in a similar fashion to the Fender Hot Rod. If your thing is Plug and Play and you're only going to use delay and a treble Booster then I would go with Vox all the way, but if you have a plethora of overdrives and you want an amp that will deliver the precise sound of your overdrives then go with a Fender Hot Rod without a doubt. That's my 2 cents.
I understand your point of view. Most Fenders are mid scooped, and Vox tend to be mid heavy. The trick is understanding how to get your pedals to work with the amp you have. Using the Normal channel on a Vox and cranking the master volume gets rid of that "compression" issue. They are both great companies and all you need to make either work for you, is just tweaking the knobs on the amp to get it to work with your pedals.
Every Pedal sounds good in my ac15, but i think its brcause you have the oder Version that doesnt have the ability to use every Pedal.
My AC15 is from 2017. We probably have the same amp, unless yours is older?
@@TheToneLounge same year haha!
Same for ac10 ?
Absolutely!
KILLER fuzz tones
Who said vox don’t take fuzz too good
Mby just a wrong fuzz
It's a matter of taste. The Vox makes fuzz sound different than other amps. Personally, I love fuzz with a Vox amp.
@@TheToneLounge without being too shy i’d like to say vox fuzz sounds better then many others
Green Rhino sounds a tad like Stranglehold
