That car commercial was so funny...I have such respect for your work ethic and what a great father and husband you are.
Haha the rust comment...earth friendly as it is recycling itself while driving! Ok the loaner car segment had me gut laughing! 😂😆
It was so funny
*whispers "Loaner"*
Same! 😂😂😂
Lol well you can see why it’s the loner that’s for sure lol 😂
Roflmao!! You're too funny, the car commentary had me rolling. The laundromat segment was so true....its so boring to wait. At least you can watch videos. When I was going....no internet no videos or cell phones. Had to bring a book. :)
Cathi FAM Journey dam a real book 📖 as most people just have kindles now days or like me iPads iPhone lol lol 😂
Seriously becoming my favourite channel! Intelligence and wit combined 😁
Rach Pickle and genuine kindness
😂😂Your faux “car commercial” for the “loaner” honestly made me laugh out loud. Thank you for the laughter. I needed it today.
I thought the bit with the loaned car was pretty funny. I'm really enjoying watching this channel since I stumbled across it a few days ago!!
Same!
Have you looked at starting an Etsy store as a second storefront? Vintage clothes sells like hotcakes on there.
Posh mark maybe too
Hydro Fire I thought the same thing but unfortunately Poshmark only caters to the US right now. 😞
He could even do mystery lots, like a box of 10 random items for a set price.
Depop is also very popular at the moment
Etsy is an excellent suggestion👍. Then you can just photograph them, and they wouldn’t necessarily have to be on display.🤔.
Honestly you really should consider selling your clothing internationally online on maybe an app or your website it would be worth the time it takes listing the pieces I think they would shift in no time. I think you have a wider audience than you realise and those clothes are 🔥 Love and blessings to you and your family from London Uk.
I agree I'm in UK and would be very thankful for that 😊
Fear and Clothing in Canada lol
😂😬
Linen da vi da loca.
Yes Jimmy JimJims. Yes. Yes. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
😂🤣
hahaha
I'm enjoying pointing out the irony here... in order to clean up and empty the Potter's House, YOUR house is starting to look like hers. :)
Ha ha I was thinking that too. He needs to hire someone to help him who knows about Ladies Clothes.
A concept. Once I received 18 bags of clothing years ago. My clothing budget went down. Still wearing and loving my blessing of free clothing. Not things I would ever have bought for myself. Now. My favorites.
Mortar & Ivy well it’s actually his shop I think not his house he sells antiques so I guess he will soon have repurposed everything and sold it off! Which is great someone else would have just made everything in that house landfill
Mortar & Ivy This made me laugh. How true.
He is constantly revolving the goods with auctions and such. Please watch more of his videos and you will see this...
How about contacting your nearest art and design college to see if they want to buy some of the clothing? Contact local amateur theatre groups for renting the clothing out to them from your upstairs? A theatre group I was a member of made a good income form doing this.
That is a good suggestion
I agree with these suggestions....as well as contacting local movie production companies to see if any would be of use to them. I wish I didn't live 24 hours away because I would be there in a heartbeat to buy some of those clothes.
Remember some of these clothe can be mailed to you too.
Martin S GREAT IDEA/SUGGESTION!!
Simone Broersma He will send u anything u want, but I agree with shoes and clothing, rummaging and trying on, is most of the fun!!
Hey there. I'm a shop owner, and I have a suggestion for you. Instead of using floor racks, just buy some wooden dowels and hang them from the ceiling. You can do as many layers as you want that way. Also, if you use thick-gauge wire, you can fasten it to loops bolted in the floor and then you can actually use it for shelving as well, since the wire becomes essentially a thin metal pole.
That loaner car segment tho! You absolutely could do comedy videos as well. Super funny :)
Wow..... A Real Man. And he does laundry too !!!!!
One in a zillion lol
@@n3wfie222 hahahhaah...I have been married 27 years and doing all the laundry the last 26 1/2 years of it.
Dixon Cider way to go :)
@@n3wfie222 guess I am one of those one in a zillion then...
@@dixoncider7256 does that mean the partner got you thinking they would do laundry the first six months? aha
Ah, wish I could rummage through these! 🤩
Rara Avis me too!! So wanted to help with the house clean out also..lol
I know, me too!!
Rara Avis I was going to say the same thing. The boho dress definitely caught my eye.
you can, take a road trip to beautiful Canada!
you could do like grandma and cut the good material from some of them as well as the buttons to sell as vintage quilt squares, and buttons. Vintage material sells for a mint on line and many people seek it, Ive often taken it from an old piece of clothing from the thriftshop, for my quilts. Grandma used velvets, cottons, satins, linens, old gingham, paisley, calico, floral prints and hounds tooth as well as old suit jackets for her patchwork quilts, they were exquisite, and beautifully unique.
Did you go? I would if I lived there 😀
You do a really good job injecting humor into the situation.
Your review of the loaner car was hilarious! My dad and his friend work up in Alaska part of the year. The friend had a car he would let people borrow when he wasn't using it. The description he wrote on the key tag was "white Honda 4 door w/ moss and mold." Haha!
Salt makes many cars eco-friendly, sadly it also murders trees and plants. There is a reason that Norway maples are all over the place. They don't die from road salt..!
If you rotate the clothing every few weeks wouldn’t that keep customers coming back to check them out? They may pick up other things that catch the eye.
This is a good reminder to people that working for yourself can be so rewarding and a lot of hard work! It's the dream!
Ya need to open a Poshmark store. 🤣 I’m at home sick and the “loaner” bit had me rolling. We lived in Guantanamo bay Cuba (on the base) and all the lemon lot cars are called “GTMO Specials”- and they were all VERY SPECIAL! 👌🏼
I want to travel to Edmonton just to visit your shop!
Have you thought about a special event insta sale? A lot of the vintage clothing dealers I follow do that. They just list the size, price and shipping. I used to set up clothing stores in my past life and I’m so mad I don’t live closer to shop your great stash!
I’m sure the potter lady would love seeing her things all cleaned and organized! You should show her these videos and/or the shop
well, or grieve because she didn't make the decision to sell it all... it's entirely possible that this isn't her choice to sell any of this on. And if she did, then she will agree with you!
The house was an estate sale.
I think she is dead.
Jennifer K Thumbs WAYYYYY down to that.
I am so impressed with your work ethic and your tenacious attitude. "You got yourself into this mess and you have to get yourself out." Well, I feel strongly that you will be rewarded for all your hard work!!!! I am pushing 60 and I just think you have very good qualities on camera and the youtube part of your work, not to mention your speaking voice and singing. I also enjoyed your routine about the two tone car. Funny! Keep up the good work. God Bless.
There is a museum in NYC that has the worlds largest collection of vintage clothing that they loan out to broadwat shows, tv series and movies. You should contact them to see if theyd be interested in any of them. You should also contact any Theatre arts programs to see if theyd like any of the pieces if youre donating them. Lots of them dont have budgets for costumes.
Time consuming if it’s not to make some cash ! ... and transport will be costly. Shame, theatres could have been a good alternative 🙂
I'd love to sort, wash and hang up that clothing just for fun! What a life!
Omg the Corolla Loaner section cracked me up! I love your sense of humor!
I can't beleive the incredible range of clothing you found! Mary must have been so stylish!
The Loaner.. hilarious !
What a fab job u are doing. Thank u for showing respect towards the Lady & her belongings.
My suggestion would be to hire someone full time to list on eBay and someone full time to pack and ship. Start everything at .99 and auction away. You have so many people all over the world who would love to have the opportunity to buy! Myself included!
He will end up with hundreds of 99 cent sales you can't do it that way with everything.
Curiosity Inc. is now one of my favorite CZcams Channels. I have been binge watching The Potter’s House, fascinated by its transformation. It is a wonderful tribute to the Potter and I love the fact that Alex interviewed Mary, the artist. Alex is handsome, hardworking, funny and kind. Thanks for sharing your adventures of the Curiosity Inc world. Love it!
Ditto, I want more, he is a breath of fresh air.
There is also the musicians House the mechanics House and the ballerinas House to watch.
You definitely have a chore ahead of you. But it looks like the clothes wash up nicely. Best wishes.
I was wondering on the clothing, so much of it! Before taking to laundromat, sort. Labels, colors, textures, dry cleaners, etc. That way you can do them by the load, based on what they are, dresses, shirts, pants, etc. Check for damage, etc. Anything damaged, toss to the side and sell online auction by the box to quilters looking for scraps. I would dearly love to get my hands on old clothing for the scrap quilt I always wanted to make and never got done. BUTTONS, honestly, with anything damaged, take off any buttons you find, those can end up sometimes being worth more than the clothing itself. Not sure how well they will sell in the shop, but online you got one heck of a store stock! Wish I was closer, that's for sure, I'd love to help.
Yes, if it's not wearable, the fabric patterns are desirable! ❤️
You should make sure to sort the clothes by color, it's more attractive to the eye. White in the front, black in the back. You will need more hangers dear. And knitwear should not be on hangers, it deforms the clothing, so be careful.
Always fun🤷♂️😳❤️❤️❤️❤️
I SO wanted it to be sorted by colour. All my clothes are. So many multicoloured patterns though... always a difficult one!
Carol dos Santos that's hilarious he doesn't want clothes. I can't imagine a lady in my closet muwahaha it everything everywhere
My closet is a mess XD, but I was telling him about the way a clothe store would sort their clothes, to better attract costumers.
Have you watched Tidying up with Marie Kondo? She is great, and I am trying to summon courage to follow her method and sort my closet.
I doubt there will BE any white since he didn't separate for color.
I would LOVE to go through the 1950 and 1960 bags of clothes! ❤❤
Oh my gosh, I would have washed all those on the hand wash cycle and been extra careful....I was dying watching them being washed in those large commercial washers....those machines can damage old vintage clothing.
Nahhh..it's agitators that tear up fabric.
I was yelling "don't put them in the dryer!"
Holymotherofgod I was too! I remember seeing my daughter's 400$ black gabardine suit in the washer/dryer and just seeing the silk lining fall apart....
Etsy. SRSLY.I wish I was closer. I've done (among a myriad of other things) store merchandising. There's an art to it. It's not nearly as easy as people would think.
Nothing is as easy as people think it is.😉
I love your energy, your family, and your integrity. And your stuff...love your stuff!!
Bet I could find something I've worn lol. Love the car promo. Enjoyed this short vid with a good morning coffee. Love the channel!
I love how everything is being saved and nothing is going to waste in this house. It warms my heart to see someone being so respectful to the prior owner and her family as well as to the unique and amazing items that would of otherwise been overlooked and probably thrown out. 💜
That's really nice clothing you have there. Looks practically new. Like only worn a few times.
I've been to vintage clothing shops in New York City, (US) and haven't seen anything as nice.
Came out really clean too. So important that used clothes be sold clean. Otherwise smells up the entire store.
I love your channel. You have such a calming presence and voice.
Its nice to see that you are not afraid of some hard work to make a successful business! Those clothes are much nicer than I imagined… great day to you!
‘Recycling while its still on the road!!” Love it lol
"But it does feature rotating wheels!.... so that's a good thing." HAHA~! so funny...
You need The Way We Wore in Los Angeles. They have a show on Smithsonian channel. They have a massive archive of vintage. I bet she would like to backstroke through your finds.
Same people also run Voguely Familiar. Everything $99.00 and below. The other site has high end designer.
That loaner car segment with the vintage 50's-60's music backing it - that was genius. Brilliantly funny. You need your own radio show - except that there's no money in it. :D ... and YES to what others have said about Etsy! Take pictures of your finds and post them. 60's and 70's clothing is HOT!!
The loaner 😂😂😂😂😂 best of both worlds.
Gotta say, I'm an antique dealer and interior designer and I am addicted to your show! It's the best thing around
This show reminds me of Survivor, fun to watch, but makes me thankful I'm not involved.
lol!
Contact a movie company. They’re always looking for period stuff. Old tins, clothing, fixtures, etc.
Or your local community theatre company. They never have enough money and might be able to use some of those pieces. :D
renee allen Most movie companies rent from Prop rental businesses. There are quite a few out there and they are able to purchase in bulk.
There are also specialist buyers for vintage clothes.
Probably to late but broom handles and chain. Don't forget changing room xx
was thinking a folding screen would do. shifts out of the way when not needed.
Ah, I love the smell of newly laundered clothes, I wish your store is near so I can walk in and go thru those vintage clothes...
You should put some of the clothes on ebay so people from other countries can buy those clothes
He said he does sell on eBay but not much because they charge a percentage but he said he does sell on other sites but I don't know if he said which ones.
Same! I'm in Florida and would love to buy some of these
Tamia Brown - Yes, they do charge a fee, but you can make sure to retrieve it, calculated into the price. Would be great with a Buy-it-Now button as well as a bid option for those who want a bidding war... ☺️
Why not get it all washed then hire a hall somewhere and the advertise it everywhere you can think of and try to get as much sold like that. You could contact theatre groups, drama studios, your local paper, or even your local television channel see if they’ll do a piece on the house and then all the clothes. You could contact your local colleges fashion department and even get some of the students to do a catwalk segment during your sale. Hope this may be a viable idea for you, hope you have success. Best wishes to you and your family. X
What a great idea!!
I think this is really the best idea.
By the time you spend all the time and money renting a hall and paying for publicity and ads you’ll better hope people turn up en masse and you make your money back or make a profit. Too risky!
Yes but true devotees would travel big miles to attend so lot's of online info too. Would make it even more special if for every $100 spent, $10 went to a woman's refuge or domestic violence centre. As a woman I always look for those sort of sales and it would endear him into the community more.
Online Media is nowhere as expesive as traditional advertising and then there's worth of mouth. A few posts on social media in the right spots and it could grow quite quickly.
LOL love you Loaner commercial!! Impress your girl, impress your parents... Hysterical!
Make a rack out of pvc and spray paint. Inexpensive and easy to store when you don't need it.
If there is anything I can do to help - I live in Edmonton and have free time. Could do the laundry and hang it up. I am a bored retiree.
Hi Julie get over there quick, we subs and friends of this channel need YOU. Bless him, he is out of his depth with all this washing and sorting of ladies clothing. He is struggling with all these beautiful clothes. Much love from me and 1,000's of subscribers.
Go to his shop and talk to Alex.
Hi Julie! How wonderful you are local for Alex, and could help out!I think you'd need to call the shop, or stop in, for them to know you're volunteering your services. I heard his wife say on one of the live feeds that between here, Facebook, etc., they have approximately 1,000 messages per day, so they can't keep up reading and replying to them all. Good luck, and have fun!!
Julie, do go help.:-) If I wasn't so far away, I would love to help. So much fun plus the bonus walk down memory lane. I envy you right now.:-)
Get over there before he throws cashmere in the dryer! Sweet Lord old clothes weren't all meant for today's washers and most definitely not the dryers. Save him from himself!
That car commercial was amazing. I'm sure you could sell it, if it were for sale. It really doesn't matter what a car looks like, just as long as it runs and is dependable. That's a valuable car, if it gets you to work and back. Been there, done that. Can't beat a car that is eco-friendly and turning to dust as you drive it. I love it.
Got to say, those Toyota Corollas lasted well. My aunt had one and it's had three owners in our family, all learners. Hilarious review of your loaner - looks like it met a Lot of careless drivers.
I’m reliving my high school years as you go through those fashions! I had a very similar top to the striped tube top with sleeves, but mine wasn’t striped, it was electric green! Ahhhh the memories of doing the bump and the hustle at the disco. Thanks for the memories!
I have an insane urge to fly to Canada to go shopping... I love the colourful dresses!
See if there is an empty storefront locally and do a pop up shop for a 3 day weekend. Contact local used fixture dealers and see if you can rent racks rather than buying more.
Don't worry, that Corolla will run for the next 10K years mate !
Yeah, huh? They run FOREVER.👍
Joe Saltzman Alex is knowledgeable and a Jack of all trades!
Mines a 2005 and people still want to buy it at the garage I go to.
@@paulanull8731 - I believe it. I've got a 2000 that is 100% reliable and still runs like a clock !!! :-)
Just need to take care of it. All the oil changes etc. the things that cost a bit but pay off in the long run. Now I have an age to aim for... grand old lady Toyota.
How funny - I find myself hanging out to see the next moment of this adventure. Nice work!
So wish I lived near you guys, I so love old vintage clothes! ❤️
Well if the vintage store thing doesnt work out. I think you really have a chance at being a great used car salesman!! LoL. Loved the car bit... and looks like she was a pretty stylish lady!!
You're LOATHING the CLOTHING....
and I'm just enjoying your humor.
Need to employ someone to take pictures and descriptions and sell online. Shipping reasonable, per pound
Lots of great stuff in your store. Thanks for the tour
Hehehe !"the loaner." You sir...have a great and interesting job/hobby. Thanks for the great channel! :)
Loved the car commercial you stuck in there. Great skills haha
I thought you had someone who was interested in vintage clothing and would take all that off your hands. Geez, that's a lot of work but I'm impressed with how nice the pieces look after being piled in the house. Hope they move along quickly!
They were probably all talk and backed out of the deal. He lives in a smaller city, so maybe there aren't many vintage clothing resellers there. In a major city, though, that hoard would be gone in a few days.
Poor Alex, what a job! Loooooove that vintage clothing!!! Loved the laundromat wait, so funny.
In this world of superficial glam and duplicitous money-making your channel is a breath of fresh air. You work hard (some may say too hard), do what you love and reap the reasonable benefits. More youngsters need to see this is how its done! *looks around incredulously, "Frak! I've become my mother!!"*
Just find a consignment shop and wait for the checks to come in the mail. Seriously!
OTOH, most of us have really good experiences with consignment shops. The checks show up even months later.
Great idea since there are so many bags of clothes.
@thatpat1 wow! how are they not responsible for that?
Great video today. Everyone at work is wondering what I am laughing at 😂
Picking Treasures . Wow 🤣 ... u watch ur vids at work ??
I can't wait to see the next installment. Your little loaner car was a hoot!
Fantastic story teller and wit! Love watching these videos!
I am proud of this channel, I subscribed when they had only around 500 subs, now look at them!!
One of the first! Glad you stuck with us :)
@@CuriosityIncorporated your content is really coming along. i must say.
I've been flipping vintage clothes since the 60's. I take them into the vintage clothing shops, they pick out the crowd pleasers. Leather and lace are your best bet. Vintage bark cloth curtain too.
You can also approach your local dry cleaners for a bulk rate on the better items.
If you find a flaw don't waste your time and space. People want their vintage clothes to look new.
Seems your seriously considering the clothes so you are going to need a fitting room unless you stick to clothes they can pull on like jackets and coats. Don't forget the full length mirror that takes 10 pounds off.
Yay! Thanks for posting! I watched the entire series of you cleaning out the house you bought and I am very invested in this story of yours. Thanks again!
Oh my goodness, the "loaner" segment was awesome!! Impress your gal when you pull up and the parents as you drive away. 😅
To make the most of your rack space you should pick up the slim hangers from Costco, you would be surprised at how much more hanging space you will have by getting rid of those big hangers
Higgybee I had the thick plastic hangers given me. I just got rid of the last of the nasty, breaking, space eaters and am back to sturdy metal hangers!
Another trick is to put a shower curtain ring around the top of each hanger and you can attach another hanger through the hoop. Saves a lot of space.
@@renewedhope9177 Good one!
You could start a mini-franchise by working with a local consignment shop and setting up a Curiosity Inc clothing rack section.
Yeah this. Maybe easy to grab out the nicer dresses just as a category. But consignments charge a lot of space rent.
Great job keeping a ton of useful things out of a landfill, and good luck!
Wow I had no idea there was so much clothing. I love that you saved it!!
Alex, enjoyed the video!! I read most of the comments below and saw some great ideas for selling the vintage clothes. I've recently watched some You Tube videos where people buy mystery boxes from EBay.. You list how many pieces are in the box, general sizes, men's or women's and let people bid on them. People are intrigued and some buy anything. Just an idea😀. Judy
Great idea!
Use the pipes on the ceiling and use a long pole with a hook to get them off the ceiling if someone wants to see it? Lol
If the pipes are for fire suppression, you DON'T want to do that, as it could set the system off. Just FYI from someone who's seen the mess that occurs after that happens.
As long as the pipes are firmly secured. If not it could be a problem. I live in old building with radiator heat. There's pipes running all over the ceiling in apartments. I use mine to hang dry my laundry.
I love that era , the clothes were cool and everybody was nice to one another. Simpler times with pattern's and very colorful . No one stood out and no one would poke fun at the other. FASHION CITY FOLK'S !
Sometimes the best thing is to wholesale or consign the items you don't normally carry (vintage clothing) to someone who specializes in that. I once cleaned out a huge home some years back in California but it was a home for "special needs" people so virtually all of it was trash. I could have filled your trailer 4 times with recycled metal items alone. Hauled out 52 box springs and mattresses. What a job! Looks like you earned far more than the cost of the property plus enough to restore it as well. Great buy! I'm so jealous.
Oh man I would have so much fun going through and organizing all those clothes! (Too many years in fashion lol) or just to shop it all!
Love the loaner sales pitch...LOL💞😂💞😂
Love your sense of humor with the car. Looking forward to see what comes of this part of the venture.
I love your delightful description of the car!
This reminds me, I'm in N.C, and when you drop off piles of clothes in bags , you can get a really good deal at dry cleaners, so I was going to suggest that, but I guess I'm a day late, and a dollar short !! I don't know if it's the same way in Canada. I know dry cleaning is expensive, but if you bring in bulk they usually give you a really good price, like 25c per item. Much love, Daria ❤
If you decide to donate, please consider the local High Schools Theater Departments. Limited funds cause parents to spend much more on costumes and supplies. Your donation could set them up for YEARS to come!
You are amazing, fun, hard working, honest. Really your videos are great just to see what’s next! Much gratitude, and appreciation, thank you so much.
I would love to look at all those clothes, etc. And Ha, about your comments on the lovely rental! I laughed so hard over all the fun you had with it!! You truly are a gem. Loving your videos!!
Yes it can be done. I think you can do anything you put your mind to. You have already done so much work the last few weeks, this will also be all right. love the car advertising.
Do I wish I could go through those clothes! I love your channel so much. You are such a enterprising young man, and I wish you much success at all you do.
Greetings from Costa Rica! Wish I was closer, I'd love to buy bags and bags of fun clothing.
Love the loathing title. I'm loathing it with you! Great commentary on the car, lmmfao. Thanks for the update. ♥️
