  • I've upped my half dollar boxes per bank to two boxes per bank per week and GOOD THING I DID! So - I picked up 2 boxes of half dollars from my first bank, and let me tell you... One of these half dollar boxes was EPIC! It contained some serious silver and made for one of the best boxes I have ever hunted or seen for that matter!
In this video, I will share all of my finds with you including all of the Silvers, the NIFC's the proof coins - YOU NAME IT!
I managed to fill ROLLS of silver, as well as... well, just watch the video to see what I found!
I decided to set up the camera and record each and every roll this hunt since it had so many enders! Plus, I needed to save time on editing so I could get this video out to you all in less than 40 minutes... I hope you don't mind the video length and still share in my excitement as we found SILVER, roll after roll after roll!
    Half Dollar Coin Tubes: amzn.to/2FG6e0M
Do you only search for silver or do you also check for proofs, errors and low mintage years?
How many silver half dollars do you average in a box? Do you mostly see 40% silver or 90% silver? What's your BEST find in a box of halves?
I hope you enjoyed the video - if you did, please subscribe!
I plan on posting new ones weekly so please subscribe if you wish to see more: goo.gl/7jX6g5

D She Here's the reality of searching coins. You go down to your bank and ask for 2 rolls of half dollars, no problem. That was so much fun that you ask for 5 rolls, when you return the first two. Right about then your bank reminds you that they are doing you a customer service and please don't try and return these 5 rolls. Or when you try to get ANY rolls of half dollars you're told you MUST order them by the $500.00 box, but please DO NOT return the box. You see someone has to re-count and re-roll those coins before they're credited in your account and the banks don't want that responsibility. You can pickup and drop off at different locations, but that doesn't last long either. Ultimately, you'll end up trying to pay for all your expenses with half dollars to get them back in circulation. Then you discover Coinstar and pay their 9% fee to play your game, BUT you must find SOME silver to be able to pay your 9% fee to break even. When you start losing money, you'll stop playing. Now that's for the common guy, how RobFindsTreasure does it, I don't know.

Hi, just clarifying some coin hunt lingo:
Ender=a coin on the end on the coin roll(visible when the box is opened)
Obverse=the face of the coin, contains the date the coin was minted and a few other things
Reverse=the back of the coin(the side of the coin that isn't the obverse/face
Mint=when the coin was made and formed out of metal
Silver coin= a coin that is made of silver. These are worth more and much more rare than common coins.
Proof coin=a coin meant for collectors that you CAN spend but is very shiny and doesn't wear out much
I hope this helps, reply if you have any more questions! (:

The wife helped me and what a box. 2’64 Kennedy’s, a ‘53 Franklin and a ‘42 Walker. All were in great shape. And we found 13 40% coins and a couple dozen proofs and uncirculated Kennedies.
Monday bought the second box. ‘40 Walker and a ‘46 Walker which appears uncirculated. Another 11 40% coins and 26 uncirculated and 2 proofs. Also 5 errors including 2 no FGs.

Just a little rundown for those curious
    1964 90% silver approx value $10
1965-70 40% silver approx value (depending on quality) .50 to $25
NIFC means not intended for circulation, this is for any half dollar produced after 2001.
From 1992 to 2018 San Francisco has produced 90% silver coins so there are silvers beyond 64-70
The bicentennial can also be silver (40%)
2019 has a 99.9% silver coin and also the first reverse proof (shiny and matte parts of the coin are reversed)
Proof coins are to test a die, design, can be treated with chemicals to make designs/errors more noticeable or double stamped.
Nothing is stopping anyone from getting a few boxes of coins and doing this yourself. This guy took 70 of the approx 1.1 billion (64-70) silver coins minted. These aren't rare, they aren't ruining your hobby.

For just regular circulated 90% halfs you're looking at about spot prices which is $6 and change if you find some key date walking Liberty's or Barbers then yes there is more to it. 40 percenters are going to be worth at least their spot in silver. Which is about $2.60 at the moment. I will buy 40% for $0.50 a piece all day long by the thousands of dollars bring them to me. To the guy that replied yes 1970 is 40% silver that is the last year they did it. They did not make them for circulation though so if you did find one it came out of a mint set.

They were the key date coins for the 40% silver Kennedy half dollars due to the limited production amount. They were intended for collectors only and not released for the general circulation. Cool?

It was a single box with 18 enders and I pulled a total of 187 40% silvers (almost 20% of box) from that one box and not a single 90% silver. The only reasonable explanation I came up with is someone passed and their family members saw these piles of halves and probably thought "if they aren't before 64 their only worth face" and they returned all the 40s to a coin machine not knowing they contained silver. Not many people know there are silver coins out there and even fewer know that halves from 65-70 where 40% silver they only know that pre-64 contain silver. Crazy hunt! Congrats man!

This is extremely RARE for a person to find this many silver coins in 2000 half dollars. He even says 21 finds was his best ever. Some will say he "salted" the rolls, but from my 50 years experience, I believe he was truthful. It CAN and DOES happen, we just saw it. Now comes the part that I HATE. I was traveling once and was coin roll hunting for halves in every town I came across. One little town in utah had only one bank. I asked if the had some half dollars and the lady who was leaning on her hand said "Silver ones?" And I said "Sure, Why not" so the lady retrieved about 60 of those plastic tubes you had your halves in and said she had more and did I want them. I said I will take all the halves she had and any other coins from whoever brought in the halves. I ended up leaving with almost 100 tubes of 64 and earlier halves. I had rolls of silver dimes, quarters, and about 20 morgan dollars, all 1921. I was shaking for an hour but I was disappointed because I only had enough money to buy a few rolls of halves at a time.

      @jasonpatterson8091 Před 5 lety +2

If you look at the sheer numbers of coins that were minted, there are very few American coins from the 20th century that are worth much more than face value. For example, at least 10 million (and for some dates/mint marks, more than 100M) half dollar coins were produced each year through 2002, and they aren't really even used in daily life. For something like a penny, the numbers are in the 100's of millions to billions per mint mark per year.
Of course the older coins in great condition go for more, but most of the ones in this video have value solely because of their 40% silver content. There are others that are valuable because they have some sort of mistake or happen to come from an unusual time/place.
