- A LumaPro 50 watt HPS (high pressure sodium) outdoor wall light fixture, I believe the model is A0037. HPS fixtures of this low wattage are rather uncommon, the lowest common wattage seen is usually 70 watts.
I bought these fixtures with use on the deck in mind. While I do eventually want to install one or two street lights over the deck, I also want to have a little more subtle stage of lighting out there as well. The light output from these is quiet pleasant and not at all blinding. Should be perfect for the application. - Věda a technologie
I really like these fixtures. I need to get one (or a few) before they become more obscure.
I wish there were more of these available, there's several places I'd use one.
50-watt HPS is (was) a very common wattage. That plastic cover will eventually yellow (deteriorate) overtime depending on how much it is used.
It is press-fit onto the shaft, it just pulls off.
I have a couple of 35 watt HPS wall packs that are awesome!

Thanks for letting me know.

OK
5:11 nice and safe 😂
Just the way it should be.
@@JordanU agreed.
That ballast is a low power factor model that lacks a PF-correction capacitor. You could try replacing it with a high power factor version with a capacitor, but it might not fit in such a small fixture.
I doubt there are many other ballasts that would fit, perhaps the capacitor was excluded as there was nowhere to put it.
I'm converting a 50w hps hubbell fixture with a screw on jelly jar to 50w metal halide would this work at all anybody please let me know thanks !
10:27 Hot Restrike alert.
OK
I would probably prefer my new-old stock 13w cfl fixture over this. Mainly because of the ballast. I like HID in my yard lights more anyway.
OK
Turning a high-pressure sodium lamp on and off frequently significantly reduces the lifespan.
OK
