This dawless piece consists of some unsynced phrases of different lengths being played on the Digitakt without the sequencer, allowing them to ebb and swell around each other creating new melodies each time. This was recorded directly onto the Nagra IV-L reel to reel and was purposely played at a higher tempo and pitch so that the Nagra could be knocked down to play at half speed. This then goes into Fairfield Circuitry's Shallow Water, Pigtronix's Echolution 3 and into Eventide's Blackhole.

Yeah, I’d actually recorded this on my table before noticing the sun on the floor, managed to chuck my equipment down there and record it again before the sun went behind a cloud! 🌥️🌥️🌥️

Very nice sound. Do you manage to avoid the click when looping a long sample on the Digitakt because of the lack of crossfader?

Hi there, thanks for the listen! yeah unfortunately this hasn’t been addressed in the updates yet (I wish they would!)
I usually run it through Izotope’s de-click before mastering 🙂

@@MatthewHyatt yes depending on the sample you can, trimming between waveforms should avoid it clicking, one problem I find though is if your looping drones (or more likely when I have sloppily chopped a sample in the middle of a waveform) and there is no break to trim too, as this is when it will start clicking.

Hi there, unfortunately not no, the Nagra IV-L is just mono, for stereo you would need the IV-S. 🙂
