  • Hello everyone and welcome back
    In this video I am answering a question I get quite frequently - "Does liposomal Vitamin C help with collagen production?"
    I am also showing you how you can make your own liposomal vitamin c, very easily and cheaply.

    Sorry I talk a million miles an hour in this video! I get very excited when it comes to liposomal C ;)
    To make your own liposomal c, you need:
    176 g vitamin c powder
    217 g soy or sunflower lecithin granules
    100 g/ml vodka
    550 g/ml distilled water
    Here is the vitamin c powder I use
    www.amazon.com/Nutribiotic-So...
    Here is the soy lecithin
    www.amazon.com/Bluebonnet-Nut...
    I use a cheap Vodka, which is almost 40%
    This is the ultrasonic cleanser I use

      Yes, vitamin c is quite amazing, internally and externally. And the liposomal form just makes it easier to be absorbed and give greater bioavailability.

    I forgot to mention that I put my liposomal c in a hit of orange juice. It really helps disguise the taste :). It does however not interfere with absorption.
    I take it on the morning, after breakfast, but you can take it any time throughout the day.
    As I mentioned, I take 3 tbsp, which comes out to about 5 g of vitamin c
    In the study mentioned on liposomal C, participants took 3 sachets. I am assuming one sachet is 1 mg

    It’s amazing the amount of people I’ve come across in my work getting scurvy in this day and age....the culprit is they are eating the “keto diet” now of course you can put your body in ketosis and still get fruits and vegetables in enough amounts to prevent scurvy but so many people are doing this inappropriately and it’s almost unbelievable how hard it is to get scurvy it’s mind boggling....as usual a little education goes a long way....WFPB!!!!🌱💪🌎❤️

      Hello Claudia

I am not sure how liposomal it ended up being, but I actually did notice some benefits from it. Yours will be sufficient. The heat of the blender helps encapsulate the vitamin c into the lecithin. I am however always a bit doubtful of liposomal c in capsules, but if you feel it is working, then it is probably a great product.

      I would say blend it at least three times, 4 to 5 if you can, always putting it back in the fridge in between. When blending it, let your blender get a bit warm, for the encapsulation to happen. I hope this helps, let me know how it works out.

Also when you make it, would it be ok to freeze for a short while to bring the temperature down and then blend again instead of refrigerating to speed up the process? I read someone was blending for a minute and freezing for 2, to keep the temperature down, for a cumulative of 6 min of blending.

    Gruetzi Claudia,
    Thanks for this very informative video.
    Hope you will read my message and answer it. Thank you in advance.
    My questions:
    If I do not add the alcohol, would the total amount of liquid be: 550 ml or 650 ml? Should the 100 ml of alcohol be replaced by 100 ml of water?
    What kind of ultrasonic cleaner are you using? (label, etc.).
    I did not find the link...
    Last, I've been told that the tank should not be filled to its maximum capacity, but only up to 2/3 - and that the mixture in the glass should not exceed the level of water in the tank.
    What is your advice on these 2 points?
    Thanks a ton!

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  Před 2 lety

      Hi Maria, it is lovely to hear from you. Yes, if you would leave the alcohol away, it would then be 650 mL of water. However, in my opinion the alcohol is quite necessary, since it is an emulsifier. Just using water it’s not really going to work, so you would have to find a different emulsifier. However, I have done quite a bit of research on finding a different emulsifier, and have not been able to find anything
      So, unless you have a problem with alcohol, I would say it is definitely need it. The percentage is quite low, only 4%, versus in most store-bought brands it is 12%.
      I thought I linked the ultrasonic machine in the description box, please check again, and I will as well. If it’s not there I will link it right now.
      I have a she not food of not filling the ultrasonic machine to capacity, so unfortunately I don’t have an opinion on that. I feel mine are pretty full, and don’t worry about it.

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  Před 3 lety

      Hi, there might be slight oxidation, just from it coming in contact with air and light, but for the most part, other than when making it in the ultasonic machine, the mixture is in the fridge. Once done, I store it in the fridge. I do see some oxidation around the bottle cap, after it has been opened and closed numerous times, but the mixture itself does not seem to oxidise further and stays a consistent color. I hope this helps

      Hi, glad to hear you are also making your own liposomal c. I found a similar recipe a long time ago and then adjusted the measurements to work well for me. As far as Omega 6 and 3, it is def. important to find some balance. Most of us eat way too many Omega 6's and not enough Omega 3's. To add Omega 3 to this might work some, but I think it is more important to take a look at our diet and find a better balance there

    Hi,
    Is it necessary to the do the 3 rounds of frig/blender? Wondering if u can just mix it once ( the lecithin & the vitamin C, water, alcohol mixture). Why do you need to keep blending before it goes to the us machine? Then start the 1.5 hours of ultrasound machine.
    Also, I notice the glass beaker is only half submerged in the water in the us machine. Will the top half of the blended mixture still get encapsulated if it is above the water line?

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  Před 2 lety +1

      HI, the blending/frig rounds help with the emulsification and encapsulation, so the more you do, the better.
      The beaker sticking out of the machine might make the top a bit less encapsulated, but so far I have not had any problems. But you could get a bigger ultrasonic machine, or smaller beaker just to be on the safe side.

  • @DeesSelection
    @DeesSelection Před rokem

    I used the freezer between blending to cool it down faster. And I ran the blender on high. Can that damage the encapsulation? My mixture is a darker brown color. The melting of the vit C takes longer than 15 minutes & I have to stir it a bunch of times to get it to turn clear. I used the ultrasound machine to dissolve the Vit C.
    Next time I will use the lecithin granules. The powder is messy & gets on everything. They also put small silica packets that can easily go into the powder mixture that gets poured into the blender container. I had to use a metal strainer to capture all the silica preservative packets. I learned the hard way by discovering one of the ripped up packets in the blender container. Had to throw the whole batch out & start from the beginning.

    Hi there. Hope you can offer insight. I made my first batch. Before I made it, I had started coming down with a slight cold. I have been taking it 3x a day but it has had no impact on the cold whatsoever. I have had more results in the past with taking regular vitamin c when having a cold. What I believe happened, my machine says if you use more than 30 minutes, you need to give it a 20 minute break inbetween rounds as it will heat up too much. So I did that, but I realized that the water was still quite warm, I didnt change out the water, I just let the beaker sit in it during those 20 minutes. Then started again, and after that round it was quite warm and the water in the beaker. I know you stated in another video not to have it go above 96.8 f I believe. My silly thermometer is kinda wonky, so it was giving me different readings some below 96.8 and some much higher. But I think it was too high. When the temp goes too high, does that ruin the effectiveness? Should I after the first round of 30 minutes, let the beaker go in the fridge for 20 minutes and change the water on my machine? My machine says to use room temp, not too cold of water as that can damage the machine. Which I did (room temp) but I used the same water throughout the rounds. Its def NOT hot here so the ambient temp wouldnt have impacted it. Any advice?

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, I am sorry you are sick and hope you will feel better soon
      Yes, if the mixture gets too hot, it looses efficacy
      What I have to do, unless our apartment is really cold, is put the mixture in the fridge between the 30 min sessions
      I don’t change the water, but you could, to speed things up
      I would still use our batch, just take a bot more of it, and for the next batch do what I suggest

      So I poured some of the warm water out and replaced it with chilled water. I was able to finish the 3rd 30 minutes with the temp not exceeding 32 degrees. Without stopping to put the beaker in the frig.
