    11:43 Biggest Mistake - Final Thoughts
    I recently explored the stunning Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, and let me tell you, it's a must-see. But here are some common mistakes people make, and how you can avoid them.
    Firstly, remember that Sagrada Familia is still under construction. Don't be surprised by cranes and scaffolding; it started in 1882, and they're aiming to finish around 2026. Plan accordingly.
    Booking online is crucial. Forget about walk-up tickets; those days are gone. I made the mistake of assuming I could get one on the spot - big error. So, book your tickets online well in advance.
    Download the app before your visit. It's got audio tours, and trust me, you'll want it. I regret not bringing my AirPods for a better audio experience.
    When you first arrive, don't rush inside. Take a moment to appreciate the Nativity facade; the details are incredible, and it's where architect Anthony Gaudí personally worked.
    The interior is breathtaking. The columns resemble a forest reaching to the sky. Check out the stained glass windows, soak in the atmosphere, and don't rush through.
    The controversial part - the tower tour. It's an extra cost, and honestly, it didn't blow me away. You get a glimpse of the city, but it's not a 360-degree view. Passion Tower is slightly better, but manage your expectations.
    Exiting the building, don't miss the museum. It's worth spending some time there, with cool exhibits and 3D models showing the cathedral's design evolution.
    Visit the bookstore; you might find high-quality items. It's a hidden gem. And don't expect Sagrada Familia to light up like the Eiffel Tower at night; it's not quite as spectacular.
    Explore the neighborhood; there are great shops and restaurants. I recommend a pedestrian walkway north of Sagrada Familia for a lovely dinner view.
    Lastly, the biggest mistake is not visiting Sagrada Familia when in Barcelona. Don't be like those guys who bailed for the bar scene. It's truly one of the most beautiful buildings on the planet. Plan at least half a day for this spectacular experience.

    I've been watching the development of this building, probably the most interesting architectural project of all time. The decoration exquisite beyond belief..
    Gaudi's immagination was sublime and unrestrained
    Thanks for an interesting narrative which was strong enough to not need music ;)

    Just on the tower tour - I skipped this the last time I was there 8 years ago but the next time I visit I would like to go up and see one of the newer towers like the tower of Mary (under construction during my visit) or the tower of Christ . . . these larger towers have much more impressive atriums / viewing platforms but just wondering when they plan to open these up to the public?

    • @pizzaipinya2442
      @pizzaipinya2442 Před 4 měsíci

      Mary tower and the 4 evangelists towers are already built! As far as I know though, these have no observation deck (there are statues on top of those towers). Jesus tower is planned to be finished between 2026 and 2028, as soon as possible, and this one will have and obseevstion deck :)

    We have to bring our own ear plugs in order to use the audioguide? I recall reading somewhere that you collect one once you get past security and inside the basilica

    • @bradball
      @bradball  Před 6 měsíci

      I believe the audio tour is included on the app. There may be headphones available but it probably works best if you just have your own headphones that connect with your phone.

    • @pizzaipinya2442
      @pizzaipinya2442 Před 4 měsíci +2

      Before Covid most audioguides given by the orginazation were the norm.
      But since 2021, most museums (at least in Catalonia) have replaced physical audioguides with QR codes you can read with your phone using your own headphones.
      The advantage is that now most audioguides are free!!! For guided tours I belive they still give you headphones to listen more clearly what the guide is explaining :)

    Is that carbonara? If so from where it looks delicious. We are visiting Barcelona soon and would love to have lunch there.

    • @taladrocule
      @taladrocule Před 5 měsíci

      Es carbonara a la española 😂 me explico aquí se realiza con crema de leche y jamón ibérico para los tacos en lugar del guanciale italiano (aunque es un buen sustituto no es el original). Esta delicioso sin duda! Pero la verdadera Carbonara solo lleva el huevo y el parmesano, que es otra cosa que suele sustituirse incluso con parmesano algunas veces, pero no rallado directamente del queso de taco.
      Que se apunte que soy español, pero al Cesar lo que es del Cesar 😂

      A Cathedral is the where the bishop is HQ’ed.
      A Church is usually a place of worship where priests are based, usually covering a certain area of a diocese.
      I’m not sure what the state of Sagrada Familia is as I don’t even know if it’s been properly consecrated nor do they say Mass there.
      It certainly looks very sacred from the outside but very secular on the inside.
