Podcast is really growing fast, can't believe they got Jean Bureau. French hero and legendary commander.

We were lucky to find time to have him on during his HC training
Next Alpaca! 😄
4:00 Dave completely forgot to tell that he signed a blender(/mixer) at the NAC5 matchup and it was given away. So technically the blender giveaway was done there :)
true!
There was also a blender giveaway in Switzerland when Dave was casting at the HeroFest in October.
Dave's chat is the best thing on twitch, just getting to be dumb and having your sillyness encouraged is a kind of rare thing, I always have a good time with Dave.
7:55 "Our tournament structure is not 100% based around competitive integrity." 11 Dave gives no Fs. I love it.
i think you meant 17:55
and they both aknowledged that
I'm a simple man. I see Town Center and I click like.
I press H
My favourite episode so far.
Love that Dave spoke his mind, even if sometimes at the expense of others. Love that Viper spoke back.
Love that there was a discussion instead of everyone agreeing on everything.
Many interesting ideas, topics, viewpoints.
Excellent job guys.
The mod theory can be tested! Patch the game when the dlc drops, do not start it. Disconnect your device from the internet. Start the game. Old background? Jackpot!
Exactly! Waiting for the next menu background mod to drop to test it (hasnt been one since the DLC)
Great to have Dave in this episode, he is my favorite caster in the scene and a fantastic entertainer. News on AoM retold is definetly one of the things im hyped the most for this week
To add to Masmorra's point at 11:10 about teams being supported, the Taiwanese team TAG currently has sponsorship and multiple professional/fulltime players within the team trying to improve. I think Wayne Chang might be a solid interview candidate for upcoming episodes
Always a pleasure to listen to Dave, he's the most likeable dude in a scene full of likeable dudes :)
Interesting that while there’s this idea that HC can’t draw viewers with less familiarity with the game (because they won’t be invested in the hidden identities given that they don’t know many players anyway) the first tournament i ever watched and my introduction into the AOE competitive scene was HC4 and i was hooked immediately. The idea of hidden identities was just so interesting and unique to me and i wanted to see whether the big names such as viper or Hera that people were claiming would win or make it deep into the tournament, would actually win, or whether due to the seeding an underdog would win. Just the idea was amazing and hooked me, even though i had no idea who any player was, all i knew was that there are favourites and underdogs.
Just came here for Dave, never heard of this new guy called TheViper before.
Thanks for the episodes, had to move here since you stopped posting the podcasts on your main channel Masmorra, will follow you where you go!
The Podcast was never on Masmorras channel. His interviews are not the same format as this one.
It's hilarious how different the vibes are in Dave's chat compared to other aoe streamers peepoDegen
Love the format of these podcasts, with Viper and Masmorra as "regulars", plus a new guest each week. The insights, stories and jokes from Dave was great and really made me laugh. Can't wait for the next podcast.
Thanks!
Correction. At 15:00, dave mentions that seb lost to andy in quali 2 which is not the case. He beat andy in quali 1 and lost to situax in quali 2. seb has been the better player atm against andy (beat andy in hc5 quali)
There was an online radio show from the custom scenario lobby back in the msn zone days. Then you had limewire stuff too which was basically proto-podcasts. There was php-nuke websites which had audio widgets. This game always had a lot of people on the cutting edge, this is why we are still here today :)
I am so Happy that this community is so Friendly, God bless, feels like a gem!!
"What's hidden cup if viewers really aren't familiar with the players behind the hidden names". It's actually amazing for learning about the players and the scene. I first got into watching competitive age during hidden cup 3 and it was so much easier than getting into other esports. All the speculations teach you a lot about the players. Viper was the micro master, MBL was unconventional if a bit clumsy, daut was slower but incredibly respected...Also, if you tune into a random Starcraft tourney, all the Zergs seem to you. HC is all bout the differences between the players. So fun.
Viper is the quick wall master, liereyy is the micro.
He figured out the way to not have a heart attack like our parents or destructive mental issues like those younger than us is to be a self-declared lazy person who does just enough: Dave is the standard-bearer for us millennials
Great podcast! Keep it going.
Love the content fellas, awesome format keep em coming!
Insightful as usual. Keep up the great work!
Nelson’s questions are really well made and interesting! Keep it up guys, this is incredible quality
Really love that we get a better insight into the guest's perspectives and lives with the more personal questions. Very happy with the podcast! Keep it up!
Love the podcast. Really great to hear from Dave. Keep up the good work fellas!
Love all of this!
Many many thanks for another episode, like always really enjoyable :)
It really feels like you're watching on the computer screen, "like you're sitting at the table"Makes you really feel part of the community!!!
What a great podcast and wonderful episode, genuinely didn't want it to end. I could've watched these guys talk for hours. great vibes 🙂
Greag to hear you guys, as always!
The end of 3rd last topic is why i'd say dave is my favorite aoe2 caster. His casts have a great mix of talking about the game seriously while analyzing gameplay, talking about the game and going way too deep into celt tower creep or aztec xolotl rush and just messing around and having that "chill streamer who just dicks around" with moments like using a firestarter when you go do number 2 on your date's home
Previously there was a discussion about the lack of cohesion in planning tournaments particularly S tier tournaments. I'd like to hear a bit more about what could be done to help create a more cohesive S tier calendar. It's what the scene needs to take things forward and make everything better than it already is.
Amazing podcast. Love it.
Thanks gl for the podcast. The thoughts of the guests also the cast i rly interesring❤
Great podcast as always!
Great podcast as always! Also to think there could be potentially hundreds of thousands of people at least launching the game each month is awesome to hear. Hope it's true!
Favorite episode so far!! Such likable dudes. 😊
just on the success of hidden cup. its not just unique to AOE2, its unique to esports as a whole, and thats interesting even to people who arent AOE2 fans. that has alot of reach. there will definatley be drawbacks, but at the same time its so unique its something that should be cherished
Awesome content-thank you!!
Dave, after T90. Let me rephrase that... along with T90, is why I watch this game. The reason they're so good together is that T90 gives every shit, and Dave gives none.
And if we ever lost Dave, it would be worse than losing Nili. I love Nili, but Dave brings that everyman perspective and just has FUN.
@@jeremykothe2847Dave and T90 are almost interchangeable. Nili is a completely different flavour (I prefer him tbh). Miss that dry wit. It barely exists now with Nili gone.
Dave is good fun. Was a good town center today. Cheers
Actually want to see these 7 videos of Dave and the Viper getting Dave's record back!
So Great! Looking forward to the next episode 🫶
Love this episode so much. Agree, that we need some more creativity on the ladder, in streams and tournaments. Also agree on the masteridea, needed just to be structure launched by microsoft with a small pricepool generated by their income. Easy win für alle und kind of a academy for rookies 🤔
Great podcast!
dave is such a chad. great episode
man, i just love dave. definetly check out his stream. you could even win a blender
Viper showing off his winter beard. Looking good!
Fun fact, first thing he said when he came into the house was that he needs to shave.
Great podcast with "bell" ❤
as always, excelent podcast
Really great episode.
1:01:01 Congratz Dave For the Good ruN!!!!
On the topic of monthly active users and why there are so many more offline players: AoE2 is one of the few online games where your own experience depends on the hardware and internet connection of other players. This is in my opinion a major technical flaw that most high-level players only rarely experience, because they primarily play each other. But casual players will regularly run into massive FPS drops and lags, despite excellent hardware and internet connection. Also the performance test on ladder doesn't seem to change much there.
Also how much would it really cost MS to give some love to the "custom game" lobbies? There's so much untapped potential in the less competitive ways of playing Age of Empires, particularly for casual players. Think of all the community game modes that streamers like to host and what could be done with a lobby system that embraces these concepts. The entire community could benefit so much from that.
I think 1mio active players could be right. I also spotted in the mod centre the most downloaded mods were the backgrounds from the expansions, with 1.2mio dls. I would be surprised if there were much less active players, in fact.
Making me love Dave even more ❤
Love the podcast. Looking forward to HC5
I love this show.
The reason why I like to watch Dave stream is exactly because he is not forcing himself and he enjoys the streams. That is what makes his silly streams fun and the best.
Love this bald guy!!
Best of luck Dave❤
Love your podcast. Keep your good work. Gg
Good moderation :)
The blender and Toaster cup were hosted by StreamingInTheYears(ex aoe streamer) a few years back! Dont know if this is linked to it too :)
i like this podcast
I would love a co-op campaign DLC!
45:08 Increased Sales of Red Bull in little places like Blanchardville, WI
53:40 I have bought 3 copies. 1 for me and 1 each for my children.
JK but for real I switched from Monster to yellow Red Bull because of their sponsorship.
5:10 Love it!!!
new gl podcast drops, i click
1:11:53 Yeah we Take for Granted all the time that the casters for us, but it IS really an achievement to cast for 8 hours straight without taking a break
CZcams matters because it doesn't lag and skip, and Twitch does.
3:57 well said Silver boy
Sebastian will be the next legend
Of course we have to hit the bell! It's a Town Center! Ring that bell people!
Back to work!
it's true that he is so different when he's casting a big event than in his own stream on whatever day😅
cool to hear from dave, hope he does another WWC or that he can manage to do something more ambitious!
amazing episode!
A question: Would it be possible to upload the episodes faster to spotify?
Thank you! Atm after 48 hours is the earliest we can do, since the upload to Spotify is mostly for listener convenience. Might change in the future though!
Finally!!!
1:21:21 SUch Hard Work man!!! COngratz!!!

Prostagma!
SoTL in the next podcast?
Trying hard for it!
@@GLAgeOfEmpiresKeep trying!
39:50 Although I love t90 and his casts, I have to say it's not the same without Dave. That duo is what got me interested in the pro scene, many years ago at this point.
1:04:37 The Dave Culture" 😂😂
Age of Mythology Retold!!!!!!!
hahahaha !blender - it came originallly from comedian and former Irish aoe streamer "streaming in the years". He held a Blender tournament
People who play single player will totally drop money on *good* campaigns. If they can replicate campaigns with the feel of the OG campaigns (especially with power fun civs like Mongols or Franks) they will sell if they're reasonably priced (like 3 campaigns for 10$ initially). Give me another full Mongol campaign and I'll give you money.
Dave's viewer are there for rehab from real life 😂
Prostagma, Prostagma
(AOM),
Only Legends understand it
commenting at min 2 for support ❤
Love dave
My ❤ to Dave 💋💋💋
I doubt 75k peak will get reached. How long was that for anyway, in HC4/RBW? A few seconds when it hit front page Twitch?
51:05 yes it does.
Source: I've won with civs / almost all of them.
Dave ... what a vicious marauder.. (11)
Im probably just misinterpriting what you guys actually mean by active/live player counts but you can get a healthy stat from the steam charts for peaks per month, all time peaks etc
wouldnt count Xbox app purchased users but its a number
Yeah so Steam charts only show how many people are playing at any given time.
We were talking about "unique monthly users", so that's people that play at least one game of AoE 2 per month.
Interestingly enough, I recently got confirmation event mods (like main menu background) are only downloaded once you start the game, so the 1 million guess is probably close enough!
