BOGAN BUS Is on its last legs... CAN WE FIX IT??
we found HUGE amounts of rust coming back through the Bogan Bus's roof while we where stripping it down.
theres only one way to fix rust, cut the sh*t out.. and thats exactly what we did!! We fully cut the roof of and inspected how bad it was. and we just got to save this thing in time!

I reckon you need to add some curves on the rear corners and join the sides to the rear👌🏼

Look awesome, I reckon just taper in the tube ends into the roof, will tie it in and make it look more factory. Mount the light bar to a roof rack because you’re just going to be playing with more rust in the future (drilling holes etc)

Love watching all the rust content. Not the biggest fan of the rear but it was definitely the only option. Maybe a hoop to connect the sides and rear and use as a roof rack or reverse light/rear awning mount?

Tight 90 or a 45 degree went to finish off the tube would look way better I reckon , would make the pipe look likes it’s running back into the cab

with the roof sliders I've heard spraying cavity wax helps prevent the inside from rusting

copper on the back side!
1. no burning through, as copper will take away the heat
2. you cannot burn MAG steel to copper
3. you end up with a nice flat welding spot.

Fill between the inner and outer roof skin with cavity wax, that goes a really long way to prevent corrosion from starting on the inside. Also use proper automotive grade seam sealer (polyurethane) not bathroom/roof silicone.
If your ever going to do this again I'll recommend 10mm or 20mm belt sander less heat then a grinder and more accurate

Isn't silicone a big no-no when it comes to painting? & couldn't you both put a piece between the sliders to join them
Looks great but i would Salami cut the end of the pipe and cap it to finish it off far nicer
I would of thought you would of gone and chopped off a other GQ roof and stitch it on Harry GQ . But this time how you welded it on you weld it through the pillars if you understand what I’m meaning

Cab swap would have been much easier! You should have used weld through primer and cavity wax. Seam sealer is designed to be used on the mating faces of the panels then spot welded through. Also silicone and paint should never go together! And why not get some bends fabbed up to join the rear door and side sill instead of capping?
Is the pipes inside diameter 1in round ?
Holesaw some disc's out for the rails and weld them in

Idk why bother with the tube at all. Delete sills all together so it can’t hold water 🤷♂️

If it was my car I would cut the pipe in half then weld it on just stops water siting on top
Dude get out of my head. First the 4jj1 gq from DCA, then cutting the roof off to fix the rust and replacing the gutters with tube. At least now i dont have to think too hard about how to do it. I was going to run tube down the B and C pillars and bolted to sliders and then rear corners were going to have similar things but bent in a way to protect the whole corner. Then running flat bar or square tube across the top of the roof. Reinforced roof racks. Light bar and solar panel up front, fuel to the rear.
The rear tube, are you going to join it with the side tubing? Would look cleaner, especially if youre doing the front.
Love it I would of done a safari roof swap.
Is it just me or is this a little dramatic never seen this done and the amount of gqs and gus that have rust in gutters is ridiculous
