You have really good videos!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate your support 😎 I got a lot more coming haha
You have really poor taste
Yeah? Where are they? This one: the camera is too far away and out of focus, the audio too low....so WHERE are the good videos?
Why are the lights out? Are you breaking into peoples houses at night and repairing their A/C units?!!!
Great, thanks. It's best to sand the pipes before you mount the piercing valve so as to ensure no dirt admitted while taking the pressure readings
great vid, helpful. About to tackle an RV self contained. Could not have done it without the vid
Thank you so much! Really appreciate your feedback🙂 I'm very glad you found this video helpful. Hope your project turns out good! Sending blessings your way from NYC!
Shoulda cleaned the pipe with a steel wool before fitting it !!!
Needs to be noted also that these aren’t meant to leave on these are meant to be temporary to recover the system until a permanent service port can be brazed in
Great point. Thank you! Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
Absolute Planet saving Genius!!!
Needed to see where to place the valves in more detail
I'm surprised you don't clean the pipes before installing the valve.
so a bullet piercing valve is used for adding refrigerant to a fridge that needs a refill, you just...tap into the line, add the fridgerant, and screw the cap back on?
Yup. Ostensibly the schrader valve would keep an indefinite seal but the cap provides a 2nd layer of security.
wouldn't it be better to attach the peircing valve to the filler pipe that they use at the factory if it's long enough, rather than tapping into the main lines?
Always need a few of those in the truck
100%
@@JumpermanTech Is it disposable or reusable? Thanks
@@UltraHydrophobiccoat You can defiently re use them. Circuits with no charging/service ports, we install these piercing valves to handle refrigerant. Usually to recover refrigerant then braze on a service/charging port to handle refrigerant. Always check for leaks because these things tend to leak. Not exactly a permanent installation so I take them back with me and use It for another system to recover. They are inexpensive and very useful for small units. Should always have some in the truck. Just make sure the gasket looks good and go right ahead and reuse them🙂 Thanks for watching & please subscribe if you havent already. I'm here to help and answer any questions. Hope you have a great weekend
Thank you so much for the explanation
@@UltraHydrophobiccoat anytime!
Attached Supco piercing valve using 5/16 sleeve that came in box however now stumped as thus far no pressure reading on gauge...not sure what to do next...this is n R-12 Fridge.
FYI: If you are using auto servicing equipment you do need adapters. Avoid putting the bpv around pipe bends. just not a god idea.
So that's how its done
Thanks for showing how to do this.
Cool video. I'm wondering how old that thing was and what refrigerant it had in it.
How do repair the hole once they are removed? Great vid, thanks!
Once the refrigerant is recovered or nitrogen is released, you can take off the piercing vave. From there you can expand the hole with a drill bill and slip in a permanent pressure port by brazing it in🙂 Thanks for watching & for the feedback. Subscribe for weekly uploads!
I wouldn't recommend using a drill bit to make the hole bigger unless you want metal shavings in your refrigeration system. You're better off cutting the line with a small tubing cutter and then brazing in a T with a service port on one end.
@@myersonline you don't have a link to such a t-fitting do you?
The fridge system could have had refrigerant gas, so it is best to connect quick connect fittings hoses with precharged hoses in both of the high and low pressure hoses
Great video. Would have liked to see the service. What was the complaint? What did you find and what repairs did you make? What refrigerant?
How about proper light and LESS background noise?? WTF
Hi does that part have a Schrader valve
Hey, no it doesn't. You use the hex key to open or close the refrigerant port🙂 Thanks for watching & stay tuned for new videos every week!
@@JumpermanTech thank you
Hellow...my question is does the valve have a stem on the service nipple...
can you leave the bullet piercing valve on forever? or does it need to be replaced with a service port?
No, it must be replaced with a permanent service port by EPA requirements.
@@andybutler7126 gotcha I hired someone to do it easy how he did it. thanks
In school they taught us to just leave it on there. We're working on the small window units. I understand they do eventually tend to leak a bit.
@@tmst2199 the fitting is not supposed to be permanent.
I would only ever use theses for diagnosing once you’ve done your checks you should recover the refrigerant replace the line tap with shredder valve
Now that you have holes in your high and low side lines, how do you seal the holes, with solder???
This is usually a temporary install just to recover the refrigerant though I have seen these hold the charge for years. Its a tiny hole that is pierced so you can just sand down the hole and cover it using a brazing rod/not solder👍 Thanks for watching!
We don't just cover the hole though, we braze in access ports for the future👍
@@JumpermanTech Thanks for the response !!!
@@griffmustard Ofcourse! I'm here to help. Thank you for your response as well. Stay tuned for new videos every week & stay safe out there!
Where do u purchase one of these from
What if the pressures tell me that I just need to top off the system with freon? Once the freon is added through the yellow hose, do I just re-tighten the center allen screw to plug the hole that it pierced into the low side line, remove the low side hose to the gauges and put the cap on where the hose was connected? Does that keep the system closed well enough? (do the same to the high side?). I really don't want to evacuate the entire system to put in a permanent service port in the case where the system just need topping off.
After recovering refrigerant and before charging the system again you remove that fitting and install a Schrader valve. Then you charge the system.
Kool 😅😅
Atleast read the instructions, they are specific about what size adapter to use on the pipe.
Also the pig tail sticking up in your way on the filter drier is where you want to put the piercing valve.
You should probably stick to doing
P/M's my friend
Student, here, working on my own 15k BTU R-22 wall unit. I was confounded by the two suction lines coming out of the evaporator. But the pig tail is there so I'll use it! There are also twin capillary tubes on the liquid line but I just found that pig tail as well. Thanks!
@@tmst2199 You should find a company that works on refrigeration so you can get some central ac.
Seriously tho, there are 100 AC techs for every 1 refrigeration tech.
Let me know if I can give you any advice as a Refrigeration Contractor.
Good luck buddy
👍👍👍
💪👍😎
thanks man
Hey! Great video, I'm trying to measure the condensing temperature, does it matter whether I put the pressure gauge in the discharge line vs the liquid line?
Liquid line comes out of the condenser.
If your trying to measure the subcool, subtract the condenser saturation temp(off your gauges) from the temp off the liquid line.
Condensing temp is liquid line temp downstream of the condenser. Discharge temp is significantly higher and is at comp. discharge line
Good day sir
Fully support your channel
Can asking sir that piercing valve sir, what is the general international name sir piercing valve
This kind leaks very fast!
Welding one is THE ONLY way to do this
Video needs serious audio work.
Does it? Lol
just wear headset
