  • #PostalPleasures Presents: German Stamps Part 3 - Mostly German Empire Late German Empire (Deutsches Reich #Briefmarken) 1930s though 1940s - From Goodwill Haul Bag 1
In this, the 3rd installment, of the #German #Stamps found in the huge stamp collection I bought at #Goodwill we find many stamps from the 1930s and 1940s which encompasses wartime Germany.
My favorite stamp from this video is the green eagle in oval Deutsche #Feldpost stamp. Germany issued 4 field post stamps this being the last of them. I had never seen this stamp before so It is a welcome addition to my collection.
I also love the two stunning semi-postal stamps featuring airplanes. They are Amazing period designs.
    Highlights:
    0:00 - Introduction
1:51 - First Stamp (American & British Allied Zone)
    3:17 - Famous Germans
5:20 - The Berlin Bear (Soviet Zone Berlin)
5:44 - Paul von Hindenburg medallion stamps
8:55 - Exciting issues from the late 30s early 40s
    15:53 - Deutshe Feldpost
20:01 - German Occupation of Ukraine
20:26 - Stamp Set Slide Show
I love to hear from you, please tell me your favorite stamp from the lot and let me know if there are any topics you would like me to cover in the future. Thanks for watching!

This makes my day better after a hard day.
The question you asked, do it how you do it. I like to see your reaction, and to see all of them taken out one at a time. It gives a feeling of surprise when we don't know what is next.

Thanks for the feedback, that seems to be the consensus.

I think either way would be enjoyable. Although I have been collecting stamps for 40 years, it is only recently that I begun learning about what I have. The time you take to talk about the stamps with no assumptions about your audience's expertise is so helpful and enjoyable.

Hi, I really love your videos, i find them both relaxing and interesting. About your question, you could do an episod at the end of a series where you can show the sets you found, give final thoughs about it. Something like that. Anyway keep going!!

Hi there my American buddy!!! I have sent you a grab bag of 150+ stamps and a couple of covers. I hope you enjoy them. If you cannot find a similar number of pre -1965 Brit Commonwealth stuff to send back to me, do not panic at all. I love your channel, enthusiasm and knowledge. If you have any British Zone German Occupation stamps I would love them and have never before thought of them as from the 'British Sphere' of stamps. keep up the super work. Cheers from Australia. Jason//

You can not only differenciate the famous germans by their watermark, but also with the cancelation date. Cancels before 1952/3 have to be from the Soviet zone! Also the papers are different. When you have them sorted by date, I would start comparing the watermarks and learn how the papers look. Soviet zone has a more brown and thinner paper. Also nice Cancel "EMDEN" on the 5Rpf Hindenburg. Thats the city I currently live in :D

Thanks for the tip about the paper differences. As my German is poor at best, I have to spend a lot of time on google translate with with my Michel catalogs to learn those finer details. The Emden cancel is bold and clear. I looked up Emden on google maps and it looks like a nice city which is quickly consuming the farm land surrounding it. I have been to Düsseldorf, Munich and Friedrichshafen, but never that far north.

Hi again. I did not grasp that you also like coins!!! I would also be more than willing to send you a small number of Australian pre-decimal silver coins in exchange for some similar Yank ones. Cheers J//

Do you have a large Upper Volta collection? I keep my Upper Volta collection listed under Burkina Faso. I just checked and I have a whopping total of 7 Stamps. I may have a couple of more in my old worldwide album from when I was younger. I used to send away for a 1000 world wide Stamps offer from the Kenmore stamp company in New Hampshire using a coupon found on match books in the 1980s. It just cost a couple of dollars and they would send approvals as well.
