- A coffee machine, that runs on batteries?! Yes please!! Here is my review of the Makita DCM501Z battery powered cordless coffee machine...plus you get a bonus review of the APD05 lxt battery USB adaptor to boot! The machine brews a hot cup of coffee (or tea) in about 4 minutes powered by the standard 18v LXT battery. It will also run off a CXT battery. I got four and a bit cups from a 5AH battery.
Great job Makita; well impressed with that one!
I don’t need either of these products, but I must have them!!!!!! 😂👍🏻
Agree 110%. I don’t have any money but I’m willing to work the corner for this.. lmfao.. But this is freaking amazing..
I understand fully
Good video. - The only video that shows that there are 2 versions of the filter thing, one for coffee / tea and one for coffie bags.
We are building a log house in Canada and have at the moment only access to a power socket from a friendly neighbors house.
I picked up a second hand Makita coffee maker in Switzerland for around 50$ and brought it with me for camping and the building site.
In my experience you can get two coffee mugs (160ml) out of one charge with a 4Ah battery -> depending of course also on the ambient temperature. It is more efficient to produce the second coffee cup right after the first one since the machine is already pre-warmed. Since I got plenty of 4Ah and 5Ah batteries the ease of producing coffee without a burner e.g. is a big plus in my opinion -> just prep the machine and let it run, come back later to a nice cuppa. I have to agree with James that the coffee is way too hot when it finishes the boiling though..
Coming from Europe I can attest that the Makita coffee maker produces coffee & espresso which is 10x times better than anything at Starbucks / Tim Hortons (I am going to get some Canadian hate for that one).
Get yourself some good coffee beans and grind them to a size suitable for French Press or Mocca - the Espresso grind size is too small and makes a mess during the pouring of the coffee.
During winter just throw the machine in your car and enjoy it in there. You can also use it to make yourself a cup of tea.
I made a short video of how to prepare it and it got quite some comments also from family members and friends.

Loved this review and your enthusiasm! What a wonderful idea by Makita as well. So cool.
Thank you for the nice comment!
I keep buying Makita 18V after I got a DTW1002Z and I love it. After that I bough also a vacuum cleaner and a fan.
Holding out for the Makita Nespresso machine...
Your van and Makita cordless coffee machine make me want to buy a van and a Makita coffee maker and take to the open road. Haha
Awesome video review. You sold me on buying one for camping! This is probably the only decent battery operated coffee maker available.
Check out the DCM 500,before you buy,
its smaler and works on home outlet to, its fast on outlet!
Thank you, I absolutely love your view. Straight to the point, informative, and useful. I love how you showed the many use cases within practical scenarios. I appreciate you so much, you did a great job...
great video wish you would do more!!! and have links to the adapter and the actual unit!!!! hope you do a bunch more
love how the ecosystem works
Needs a redesign to accept two LXT batteries. For 6 - 8 cups of coffee. Or 3 full-sized mugs. :)
And K-cups.
Bloody marvellous ...Got the camping lamp.heated waistcoat .Heated blanket plus loads of other makita gear .Becomes addictive .Is the water piping hot ? .Great vid by the way .Spot on.
Great video, just the right length and charming presentation!
This is great for RVs and camping, road trips. 👍
This is both mind blowing and confusing: On one hand it begs the question of, why even have an electric coffee maker?? Good instant coffees are actually decent. And you can also just use a french press.. in both cases you only need boiling water. On the other hand, if you actually want coffee that's brewed in the traditional way, then this is pretty cool... but still, a french press or pour over with boiling water will produce the same results. It's a cool thing that at first I was like "oh shit, gotta get this"... then started rethinking what coffee is and if I would need this thing. To be honest, my cafe bustello instant coffee tastes great. And doesn't taste burnt like a lot of coffee.
Did you buy one.?
probably easier to just take a thermos to work I think. I do like that usb adapter though. thanks
Hello mate one is for coffee the other caddy is for tea bags look on the side of the box , it telly you 👍
Great and very useful video! Thank you very much for this one video! ;)
I own a dcm 500 and it works on my 18volt battery's ,( take it slow mode )
and on 240 volt outlet !( the effing fast, I am in a hurry, need coffee now mode )
the battery holder is a separate part like the usb one,
and a separate cable for home outlet 240v
my coffee maker dus not work on battery's anymore but it stil dus work on 240volt
Been using it for years every day and I am looking for a replacement.
Best way of making coffee for work is to get a huge thermos, make a cafetiere coffee at home with a DECENT coffee like Teifi Coffee, and enjoy through the day.
This is amazing for motorcycle camping
Only draw back is I can only get 2 cups out of a fully charged battery 3amp
Wow that's crazy
Nice Guy, nice video, thanks a lot!
4 oz cup?
Nice review, got one ordered
Nice coffee and nice vehicle! 👋🏻
Like the coffee maker Iv got the battery pack but dewalt 👍🏻 ( and chainsaw) 😜😂
Would love to see a walk around of the van
I've actually been building a new one for the last eight months or so!
It's a good video. Thanks for explaining.
Please more videos Tom!!!!!
good review! thinking of getting one of these for the van!
A guy I worked with saw mine and said, you have to many tools,
This makes me wish I drank coffee...
You need the makita tv in the van
brilliant
Superb van
Go on amazon and there is a burgundy color option.
Only makes a half cup at a shot? No selection for amount? If you do a double shot, does it overflow the cup?
i know it defeats the purpose but i wish they would make this capable to charge batteries. i could see more people having this in their shops if you could charge a battery
Yeah! Just a mains power cord for it as well as the battery option would be great cos it is very power hungry!
@@tomchapman5761 how is your makita coffee maker holding up after a year of use?
@@-UPGRADE- still good to be honest! I'm only using it occasionally these days but it's been 100% reliable. I suspect my batteries aren't as good as they were, perhaps I'll do an updated run time/battery life vid
Yeah I want one
Such a tiny amount of coffee in the cup though. Can you put in any more water to make a bigger cup, or do you have to brew a second cup? Thanks.
I have questions! What is the temperature of the water as it lands into the brew basket? Can it be adjusted? What does the shower screen look like?
4 mins, so it'll take 8 mins to actually make a full cup?
Men i need that in my life:)
It’s like opening and playing with toys but as an adult
can it also run off mains? cheers for the vid
I wanna get the millwaukee adapter and use my 12 amp plugs on it
Very good
good video! thanks
how's it going, is the machine still working? Nice van BTW!
Yes still going great thanks!
ya, ya...
Great video, but where can I get one of those little metal ones that you said you needed gas for?
It's just one of the little espresso type ones you have to put on the hob or a gas stove...but instead of a pot at the top it's got a pipe that goes straight into a cup! Think I got it in the middle of nowhere in Canada!
Great video man!!
I’ve been having an eye on it for a while, so I bought 2 pairs (packs) of LXT 18v batteries, they’re 3.0amp/hr.
One batter I’ll use it for my Makita inflator, and the other 3 will give it to the coffee machine, I’m sure she’ll be happy to have 3 batteries swiped a lot. Lol
I love a Hot coffee and a Hot tea ☕️ 🍵
I only use 6Ah as it goes longer and price ratio per Ah is cheaper.
@@nihonkokusai Actually price per AH for batteries is cheapest, 99% of the time, is 5 Ah as those are the most prevalent out there and if you look on places on eBay, Craigslist, and such, you can get them for as low as $60 each. I understand why folks would want 6 Ah for sure, but they are hard to find, are priced crazy high for the extra Ah, and don't come with any tools or deals like the 5 Ah batteries do.
You lied as I can see a row of extension outlets under your cabinet! Stick with the 230😂
Is there a way to charge the the battery from the coffee maker to the wall outlet?
No it's battery only, there's no corded connection for the coffee machine
Will this take tassimo capsules
just wandering what would happen if you already add boiling water into the container? would that make the battery last longer? thinking using it for camping specially if there is a few people around ,just a thought
Not sure tbh, it probably would help the battery... But if you've already got boiling water a French press is probably the way to go!
@@tomchapman5761 being looking at this . czcams.com/video/j2kn-BVMfb0/video.html
@@elite-of5mn that looks cool! I've got a similar one but it doesn't have a heater so you have to add boiling water. Mines got a manual pump on the side to build the pressure too but it makes a goos espresso!
Yes, adding boiling water would save the battery. I've done that when using an automatic drip coffee maker in an 18-wheeler truck. There is no time spent heating water. If you pour in boiling water, as soon as you turn on the device it starts dripping water on the coffee grounds.
there's a fucking plug socket right there! 0:58
Excellent machine thanks for the review. Just a question. Do the Makita mug come with it?
yes!
How hot is it? Can you add a dash of cold milk and it's still hot ( not just luke warm).
Yeah its hot hot straight out the machine, well impressed, definietly not luke warm! Think youd be fine with a bit of milk! Ill try and get a thermometer in it if i can find one!
Wow love this where can I buy and how much does it cost👍
Screwfix and amazon. Screwfix is cheaper just now. I got mine for 107 euro inc vat. Without the battery. Roughly 90 pounds
Does it come with a battery?
Does the makita thermal mug come included?
Yes
Is this also available in S.A I need it
Why is makita always a different color... Sometimes really blue and sometimes green blue
How does it work
🙏✝️🙏amen🙏✝️🙏
WOT! No milk frother?
1 batterij for 1 cup of coffee
Only boils half a mug??????, hope not I just ordered this
David Steven He didn’t measure the water, He just put some in there, If he had filled the tank up it would have filled the cup up
Yeah it boils everything in the tank!
Thanks for the info, happy again 👍
How long does it take to make a full cup?
Does it work for tea ok
Is that a Renault?
With left side driving?
Yep, a master
Hi mate can you just put coffee granules out of a jar in the machine?
You could do I guess, just boil it through to a mug of hot water and add instant.
Do you use coarse ground coffee or fine?? I tried to use mine and it spilt everywhere.
yeah coarser the better i find and clean it out well inbetween!
You said 4.5 cups of coffee per 5.0ah battery?
When I test it i get a little more than 2 cups with 5Ah
🌹👏🏽🌹👏🏽🌹👏🏽
Hello. Can i use it only plugged into the wall?
No, only with Lxt and cxt battery
You have 6 plug mains in your van...
It doesn't have an inverter tho so if it's not parked and hooked up to electric they don't work unfortunately!
You paid what for that??? 75 what?? Did you say pounds?
On Amazon, it’s going for $165 USD! Is that about right?
Is that half a cup of coffee though lol
J'adore ton camion
Moi aussi ! 😊
Great review. But I would not buy it anyway.
I. Want. Removal. Battery. For. Change.
So how long did it take to cook up
When I test it in my video for one cup it takes about 6min and 15 secounds.
@@howtodisassemble7185 czcams.com/video/RP91jCgaQBg/video.html
Sweeet !!!
3.53mins! ‘Look at that’! What, half a cup of coffee? I think this falls into the same bracket as the kettle! It’s a bit gimmicky!
Needs a milk heater 😭😭😭
why heat milk its made for construction places not hotels
Does it keep the mug of coffee warm as well?
no.
It half fills one tiny mug. No thanks.
First ever comment on CZcams,
This man is a FREAK
cosumes a whole battery for 1 fucking cup not worth it
