these summon materias are the best examples for how strong evil dudes get weak every time they are on good sides. The god damn Bahamut 1 shot me in boss fight, can not tickle the hell house
IKR?!?! Leviathan is practically a god when you don’t have the right strategy yet isn’t all that powerful when you have her as a summon.
Coz we have what we called "balance"
That’s bc Hellhouse is element specific. The elements rotate so you need to use Bahamian when it turns to ice.

Seriously one of the best games I’ve ever played, well worth the 20+ year wait. Combat is awesome, soundtrack is awesome, storyline and visuals too. Just hope part 2 doesn’t take 5 years to come out, and hopefully some way to transfer our characters will become available

Lord Trowa sorry let me clarify I’m on about when I purchased the PS1 version which came out in 1997, I know the remake was originally announced on PS3. Waiting to replay the game from my childhood realised to its full potential with realistic graphics etc.

Captain Caveman Oh I’m sorry that I have an opinion, how old are you 4? It’s a great game. I think that’s highly evident from the amount of praise it’s received across the board. Why would I want a game in 2020 with the mechanics of a game from 97?!? I played this on PS1 when it first came out, and seeing how far we’ve progressed technologically is amazing. They’ve handled the remake with the respect it deserves whilst providing a modern twist.
FYI, please don’t make assumptions it’s disrespectful and no I don’t like Star Wars full stop, even the old ones.

Don't forget you have to build an underground inbred Chocobo hatchling mill, too.
I remember in the original. The first time you cast Knights of the round you're like "Wow! This is badass".
Then after casting it dozens of times and use Quadruple and mimic you're like "Mum, I'm in the middle of a boss fight, can I help you with the laundry?"
Ahhhh good times.

And when you find them all, his summon will change and you will unlock his ultimate attack. That way players don’t go round getting to use the summon all the time.

I didn’t want any spoilers so I’ve stayed away from all ff7 remake videos. Until now. And I’m learning I missed a summon. Such a shame it’s easy to miss.

Carbuncle is extremely useful, especially in hard mode, I hardly used any other summon.
Best way I found to fight Bahamut without having to rush:
Get Barret to 9999 HP.
Spam ATB attacks with Cloud and Barret.
After the count reaches 1 and before 0, use Barret’s Steelskin, cast manaward on him, and make sure his health is 100% before the blast. He’ll survive it like a cockroach then cast Arise on Aertih.
Barret draws fire away from Aerith while she revives Cloud. Hack and slash a little longer and you got him!
i heard that Staggering him will delay his Countdown, giving you even more time to hurt him.

Final Fantasy 10 had the best summons mechanics because you actually fought with them rather than just give them commands.
They fight in their own. You can just choose to make them attack whenever you want

I still remember the Fat Chocobo when he randomly appears from the Chocobo Summon from the original FF7, my best memory was when I was fighting the Diamond Weapon and I got Fat Chocobo to arrive instead of the regular Chocbunkle attack. It looked funny as the Fat Chocobo took up the entire size of Diamon Weapon but Diamond's two head weapons were sticking out from the side of the Fat Chocobo's head.
This game is awesome!! Loving the battle system and the boss fights.

@@57tigey I bought the digital deluxe edition when Gamestop closed in California, I didnt think I was going to be able to pick up my physical copy, thats how I got Carbuncle.
EXACTLY. Carbuncle is the only support summon in the game and clutch in tough boss fights for the auto revive.
the chocobo chick has all the elementals as attacks. and it's ultimate is Choco Flare. it's super useful.
The summons in the remake are absolutely flawless, i cant wait for FF7R on pc! Imagine if knights of the round becomes added in the future parts?!

I literally just picked up my preorder from Best Buy and I'm waiting for the download disc to finish now. I got the Chocobo chic and Cactuar summons as part of my preorder so I can't wait to use those. I've waited so long for this and it's been a really shit couple of weeks for me so this is gonna be such a great distraction from life right now.

I was playomg Resident Evil 3R before I got my copy of FF7R but turns out, playong a game about a pandemic wrecking things up is not the ideal eacape from reality right now(who'd a thought right?) I've been startling various family membera by shoutimg the names of beloved characters whenever I see them again for the first time in years. Lol

I just want my gold and black chocobo. I hope pt 2 has that final attack material and Phoenix summon. The amount of times that saved me from a squad wipe is what made it an iconic combo.

Great video, except that you glossed over the main point of info for Carbuncle entirely. ;p
What does that barrier do? Is it just a stronger version of the basic spell that reduces magic damage? Or does it actually bounce spells off like in the older games? I really want to know because, if it bounces spells off, then that could mean some new strategies, like maybe a quicker kill against Eligor by entering the battle with red health, pulling the Carbuncle summon ASAP, then bouncing Curaga (including one with Magnify, maybe?).
Barrier reduces Physical damage by 1/2.
Manaward reduces Magic damage by 1/2.
Manawall is both.
Honestly I found Cacutar and chocobo chick the most useful summons as you can use them in small fights

I wish they would bring in tonberry the little green guys as a summon. The kids drew him on the chalkboard in the slums and there’s actual blood near him showing how dangerous he is. But in my opinion having him as a summon would be epic
WTF, I’ve played the game up to Seph so far and I’ve only found 3 Of them so far. And I’ve been looking behind almost every nook and doorway to look for everything and Coliseum battles.

I have all three of the extra summons since preordering the First Class Edition (which for me was totally worth it!) I do find it ridiculous though that Carbuncle is the only support summon available for the game, and it is locked behind a preorder code. He's come in clutch and saved my ass a bunch of times so far; it stinks that people will be missing out on the experience if he doesn't become available as dlc (which should be free IMO). Locking aspects of a game behind a pay wall/preorders is a despicable practice, and I don't think people should feel like they're lacking the complete game experience if an element of the game is left out due to some conditional exclusivity.

I missed the Chocobo summon. I’m still playing through the story though so I’ll try to get it at the end or second playthrough.

The only one I found really useful was Carbuncle, I replaced the others very quickly.
Carbuncle is still with me, and I am in Chapter 14.
carbuncle is good to have through out the game imo. the cactuar is a cool summon but its damage is disappointing, the chocobo chick summon imo sucks
Chocobo chick does fire, ice, lightning, or wind damage. depending on which attack you pick. Chocoflare is the last move it uses.
Use the targeting single bad guy to hit accurately with with fat chocobo

I had Barret with Magnify on manawall. Then kept steelskin and Lifesaver up the whole time. I also had Carbuncle and before he counted down to zero, if I thought I'd have trouble keeping everyone alive I'd call him in. He will rez and full heal the party when he leaves. I had Barret Tank most of the attacks and kept Tifa and Cloud for concentrating on burst dmg. Try only switching to them once Bahamut targets Barret and switch back to him so he keeps the focus for a majority of the time.
I believe the kids say, get good. Lol This game is too easy, so I can't give advice, I just keep attacking.
There weren't many bosses that could survive my Stagger, Cross Clash, Infinity's end, Maximum Fury, Ifrit Hellfire combo. I unlocked 3 summons in total, but Ifrit just prooved himself too useful to be ditched.

Carbuncle is not that greatly design but it is really useful whether early game or late game.
idk how i feel about getting bahamut so early in the midgar part , same for Leviathan . Is cool u get to fight the summons tho .
There were 3 bahamuts in the original. Makes sense you can already get one of them.

It's only obtainable as a pre-order bonus, you claim it through the menu > system > DLC
Bahamut is tough but you can get him first time through I got him before I went up to the plate. The trick is to have revive earrings on all of your guys. At least one person has to survive the megaflare attack. It will most assuredly kill you at this level. The earrings will auto revive you afterward. Don't let him do it a second time.

Chocobo Chick does more than thunder damage. It actually has all of the elemental spells available as ChocoFire, ChocoBlizzard, ChocoThunder, ect. All for one ATB cost. ChocoFlare is its ultimate and it is non-elemental damage.

Do the summons come up in random? I equipped summon to each character but a lot of the time its the chocobo that came out? Is there a way to select which summon to use?
I lt depends on who is the battle leader. You have to go to battle settings and choose your leader. So anything you encounter an enemy not only will the selected character lead in battle, but the selected summon will be under your control as well.
It is random for the most part. But at times all summons are avaliable and you pick which one you want to come out. Has nothing to do with party leader
In the original Final Fantasy 7 we didn't get Leviathan or Bahamut till much later in the story.
Bahamut was obtained by defeating the red dragon at the Cetra Shrine and Leviathan was obtained by defeating Godo in Wutai. Both happen well after leaving midgar.

Shiva was a struggle at first, but then I put ice and elemental on my armour and it was a cake walk.
I soloed her with cloud pretty easily on the first try. Fought her for kicks with a full part and she whooped my ass
I just linked Fire and Elemental on Cloud's Buster Sword, and went ham. Carbunkle saved me a lot tho, so I could survive the Diamond Dust.
Can you get it in hard mode playthrough?

Pass this on if anyone had this same problem. I Pre-Ordered the dsigital delux edition but played the whole game and didn't get a DLC summon. I went back and found out that the Pre-Download only did the original game as well as the Music and Picture book. I had to go back to PS Store and still DL the Digital Delux Add-on manually. The very next time I opened the game it told me I had DLC to approve. Poof!
