  • Were you thinking about cheap living in Mexico, or living in Mexico, or moving to Mexico? This video is all about Cheap cities in Mexico for retirement, or if you are young and working on line, then this is about living cheap in Mexico.
People ask me all of the time about cheap cities in Mexico for retirement. People ask me, “Can I live cheap in Mexico?” Right after that they ask me, “Where can I live cheap in Mexico?”
So if you you are thinking about saving money in Mexico, or if you want to live cheap in Mexico, in the video you will see places that nobody ever talks about.
Sure, many people wonder how to retire in Mexico, and they want to retire cheap in Mexico. They want to know about cheap places to retire in Mexico. They come right out and ask me, “Hey, Bill the Geek, can I retire cheap moving to Mexico?'
But many people that watch our videos are not at retirement age, they are younger and they want to know about renting cheap in Mexico.
So you can retire cheap living in Mexico, or you can just live cheap by moving to Mexico if you are working on line. Many Expats tell their friends in the US and in Canada, “Retire in Mexico Now!”
Oh, I am Bill the Geek and this is the Bill Dallas Lewis Channel. We make videos about the joys of living in Mexico.

I am 81, and moved to Queretaro in 2021. I was 20, when I first came to Mexico, and fell in love with Acapulco for over 61 years. I have visited around the world, and all 50 USA states on my own dime. Earthquakes were the deal breakers for retiring in Acapulco. I have been speaking Spanish since age 14 as a second language.

Certainly, Acapulco was amazing back in the day, but today not so much so anymore. Back then, I visited Puerto Vallarta when it was still a very small village. I loved the tropical climate around P.V. - it is where the jungle begins!!!
Acapulco lost much of it's charm, but even today P.V. has still is charming.

I am heading there, too! Keep hearing about how bad the food is (and I experienced it myself when I visited the first time), which makes me consider Guadalajara, too. I have a friend from Guadalajara.

We were there in Acapulco for the big earthquake there 2 years ago - and it was 120 seconds of sheer terror! But, I have to say, that the recent hurricane sounded tons worse! I will do a video on the hurricane there soon. One woman I am speaking to had her refrigerator go flying out the window of her 7th floor apartment in the hurricane while her apartment fell apart around her; she is so lucky that both she and her dog lived through it. The hurricane lasted for about 7 hours and the people sounded totally traumatised from it!

My wife and I relocated to Morelia, Michoacan two years ago. We rented a beautiful 3brm/3ba home in a very nice neighborhood, for 8000 pesos ($400 USD) per month. If you're not infatuated, or demanding beach front property, Mexico is very affordable. There's a lot more to Mexico, than laying on the beach. Due to the elevation, and mild climate, we don't need home heating or A/C.
Morelia population is around 750K. Best move ever!

Hi Bill, good video! I think Guanajuato has gone up in price now. When we passed through there a couple of months ago - there was nothing below about $9,000 -$10,000 pesos ($500-$580 US) for a furnished 2 bedroom apartment for something decent place - and they were scarce! Have you ever been to Aguascalientes or Puebla? Puebla in particular sounds nice and I think these places are less expensive also.

    Dont waste your time.
    Prices have doubled.
My best advice to you is take what ever city you WERE thinking about and find the next two or three smaller towns around them and you might have a year or two at these prices before those areas are blown out also.
Dont listen to anyone quoting prices from two years ago!!
Get real. Youll be lucky if 6mo old information is still current by the time you get there. Just keeping it real, saving you time and expenses ✌🏼😎

Costco? Walmart & Costco are a must for me. I am sure it is for many US expats.
Does Durango have Walmart & Costco?
I haven't been in a Sears for decades, never my thing. It's a housewife with good credit kinda thing. A last century kinda thing before eBay and Amazon. No pharmacy, tools, toiletries, automotive, or food. No, I walked through a Sears in Ensenada last year. Designer and fine products, not cheap.
Can one get items delivered to Walmart & Costco from their online store? That would be great!

    • @BillDallasLewis
      @BillDallasLewis  Před 2 dny

Yes, they do have Costco and Walmart in Durango, here is the address for Costco with the phone number.
Blvd. de la Juventud 414, Col. del Maestro 34240 Durango Mexico. +52 618 810 4386.
I was surprised. We have lots of Walmarts here in Mazatlan, but no Costco. PV has Costco and GDL, but not here and they deliver food right to where you live. Many of my neighbors use this service.
      Best,

Some locations outside of PV were actually priced higher, so in PV there's competition, so maybe the prices are high during high season, but you can get local pricing not far from the ocean and of season prices are half off everywhere - you can expect that. Still, there's so many nice places in Mexico - you can find outstanding prices everywhere only it can be true during high season prices can be higher.

Did you watch the Durango Video. I like it. It does get chilly at night in the winter, but in the day it goes up to 72. I liked it very much, and very affordable.

Hi Bill, I love your video I'm looking to retire in 2yrs. I'm looking for a very nice quaint place. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths. I would like to come visit next year to get an even better visual and ideal place to live. Can you tell me who I should contact for a tour once there.

      Hi Adrien,
That would be a great question for Mariana Lange, I have a link to her services at the very bottom of the video. She can provide tours to most cities in Mexico. Her service, access to the tours is about $45 US per month. Give that a try.
      Best and good luck,
      Bill

How does durango compare to san luis potosi for cost of living and quality of life?

I would think that Durango would be a bit cheaper than SLP, as far as quality of life, I guess that depends on what you value in your life. Both places have a lot to offer.
